Thread: will carbineers be good in pvp?

The answer is yes. They already are.

To answer your real question: they arent going to go toe-to-toe with a tkm/rifleman or fencer/pistol combo and take them down reliably time after time. Maybe in a patch or two more they might.

For a start, we cant target the mind. Our attacks do good damage but it's states where our true strength comes into play.

I am MCarb / MDoc. Carbines is to support my group when the doc skills arent immediately necessary. In PvP this means I tend to go for /wildshot2, or /chargeshot or aid another player 2:1 by adding states they cant. I do spend most of my time dragging and curing.

Yeh i agree, carbineer will NEVER be fotm. Its the experienced players prof, and id recommend people trying other profs before this one. I did some PvP last nite, as some imps attacked Anchorhead, and although still only 2 specials worked in PvP (Crippleshot and ScatterShot) i managed to get a couple of kills, but i could have really done with some state changes.

Stun didnt work, no bleeds, no KD's, no posture changes and of course no dizzies, so i was reliant on merely knocking down the enemies health in the traditional way, and using my doc skills to best effect. Lets hope this patch does as advertised.

if you want to be the l33t d3wd killing everyone one after another like a rifleman w/ an ion rifle...or a CM throwing loot-enhanced poison/disease to keep an army at bay...then no, carbineers will not do what you want. even w/ publish7 you will not be able to kill a fully buffed/armored player....period, not just fast...at all.

that being said, CMs aside, there will be no more effective crowd control class than a carbineer spewing forth his blind/stun/dizzy/kd upon his enemies, leaving the rest of your group able to pummel on them.

play things smart and you'll be "effective"...but if you define "good" as what a rifleman or tkm or cm is now...then nope, not us, not from publish7 at least.

I killed a Novice BH and a Master CM yesterday and I am only 1010 Carbineer and 0012 CM. I was fully buffed though.

Hmm, Im MDoc / MCM atm (as you can see hehe), but the lack of a combat profession is driving me nuts. I was instantly gonna go with MCM Carbineer... but I can see a surprising number of MD / Carbineers... I'm unsure. I have my own reasons for choosing not to drop combat medic and doctor anyway - our guild is short on doc, but im getting very good at the CM crafting now.

I've been wanting to try out carbineer for a while now, it seems like I would have a lot of fun with this profession in Solo PvP, especialy with the new fixes.

i loved BH carbines wheni was a BH but dropped it because 4 shots of underhand and my HAM was gone. that was in the days where you couldn't find any kind of buffs besides spice which doesn't help HAM cost. giving carbineer a try till they fix BH and make it actually worth something combat-wise

Carbineer will still suck in PvP... why? You cant target the mind pool, and carbineer defenses suck. Unless your a BH stacker will you be somewhat decent in PvP and even then, until CM's are fixed a Riflelman/CM is gonna win just about everytime. b

As it stands for now, Carbineers suck in PVP. Yes they suck, with only 3 different damage type carbines that do not exceed past 310+ damage and only I believe 1 carbine that has Medium armor pierceing, Carbineers are NOT the greatest PvP class. Their Scatter blast is probably the most effecive skill to have next to Charge Shot 1. If they fixed Charge shot 2 and upgrade Full auto attacks, then carbineers would have more of a chance
Believe me I know, the only other pvper's a carbineer could kill EFFECTIVELY would be noob ones. Our weapons and broken skills gimp us.

Hi Mate

thats strange!??? Even with all specials not fixed I manage to stick in stun, KD, confusion, dizzy and even bleed. I dont know why it works for me and not for you maybe because I use often my BH confusion shot to open up. After that most other Carbineer specials stick. I get a nice bleed nearly each time with Actionshot2 on a single target. The BH underhand shot works often nicely if Chargeshot 1 doesnt bite in. Never the less guys I still suck in PVP but I believe it has to do that I have bad armor, no attachments, are often not buffed and have no defences stacked. And pretty often i am on a Pixie downer...lol well. I love carbines and have hight hopes to rock the imp boat in the near future in PVP

With a good set of buffs and the right equipment, I can take down pretty much anyone in PvP... except the rifleman defense stackers of course. The only ones who give me problems are the ones who heal themselves.... heh, since like someone mentioned, we can't target the mind pool.

I'm a master carbineer, and I don't have any BH skills or doc skills of my own, and I win 3/4 of the fights I've been in so far. It's all about how you use your skills and what weapons you choose. Blind and stun are your friends... usually after the first two or three shots, my opponents are both blind and stunned and it prolongs the fight long enough so that I can do some serious damage.

Unbuffed... forget it... three specials and I'm on my back.

I've noticed (on creatures mind you) that if i spam action shot or action shot 2 enough it accually slows the target.. it acts kinda like a snare (after the root/posture change ends)
