Thread: will carbineers be good in pvp?

I think many underestimate the power of a pure carbineer. Sure we won't kill any uber pvp templates but we hold our own against most proffesions. A friend of mine just got master rifleman a few days ago and we've been dueling alot since that, when we are both armored/bufffed I win 2 out of 3. Granted being a weaponsmith I got some very nice carbines for myself while my friend is using a typical jawa rifle. Just takes some tactics and a bit of luck and we can win against most proffesions.

Some of you obviously dont play on Bloodfin "The unofficial PVP server". 75% of the daily PvPers either stack or they have very good enhanced clothing/armor. Some have both and lets not forget about weapons that have nice DOT's. My point is, I speak only from experience on Bloodfin. Ill go as far as saying that Bloodfin BY FAR is the most challenging PvP server this game has to offer, I have characters on Eclipse and Ahazi. You and your guild tired of owning noobs...I invite you to Bloodfin, we got enough for everybody. Some of our more dominant players got so bored of not being able to find enough competition that they decided to leave for Lineage 2, at least you can pk when you get bored

actually carbineer combined with swordsman gives you a massive stack of counterattack... an unblockable status reflecting attack to your attacker... but since the dev's feel the urge to nerf it, i'm sure some things will change with my current template... but a smart PvP'er can make any proffesion work in PvP (and i do mean a combat proffesion)

counter attack is broke and is nothing more than another form of dodge.

Care to share those tatics? I took up carbine and am currently at 3323. I'll be grinding hard core to master by Friday. Now my my counter profession is heavy sword. I honestly tried the rifleman / HS combo and it was just too hard on my mind pool and the effective range of the rifle -vs- the need to pull them in for the sword was really effective.

Though I have to say during the PvP test with the rifle it was fun to watch the Yo-Yo effect.

Right now I'm looking at: KD, bleed (should I bother?), blind, stun, cripple. At this point I can either charge with the sword or hammer or if they charge me I can pull out the sword or the mind disease Axe.

Thoughts guys? I've got an RP/PvP event coming up this Friday and I'd like to give some of this a try.

I don't think that Carbineers will ever be an uber 1 vs. 1 PvP class. However, once the specials are fixed, I think we're going to see a lot higher demand for us in mass battle PvP, and that's the way I like it. I picked up carbineer to compliment my Fencer skills. 1 vs. 1, a smart master fencer can be a real powerhouse, but I found that in a large battle, I was little more than an annoyance unless I really used the terrain to my advantage. I think after the patch, Carbineers are going to be an even better crowd control/group support class than before, and that's cool with me. We're the agitators. We sit back and unleash a barrage of state effects (and soon dizzy/KD) to the key opposition so that the TK's/Rifleman/what have you can clean 'em up.

Carbineer may not become a 1v1 pvp class but with aoe kd/dizzy they will be the best support you can have. They won't become as uber FOTM as rifleman because of the lack of speed. But anyone who stacks master carbineer and bounty carbine 4 after publish 7 will be, well uber. 3 damage types may sound bad but TKM still owns against most people with 80 kinetic. Im betting Cabineer/Doc will be big as well. But it will be balanced, but not overpowered again because of the lack of speed and a master attack comparable to advanced strafe or unarmed hit3. I'm glad carbineers are getting fixed we need more variety in pvp its boring owning Rifleman who think they are hot stuff. /wears Stun helm and Imperial Stun PSG

HAHA. You carbineer guys think you are so much better than everyone. I see how it is... when you pick a profession that is almost completely broken, you are automatically better/more experienced than other professions? Tell me how? To be such a crappy profession you guys sure do think pretty highly of yourselves. Learn to not be such arrogant pricks and maybe the DEVS would fix your profession. "Only experienced players are carbineers". rofl. I'll take any of you carbineers on anyday of the week with any other combat profession and beat your face in. Give me a break.

Since when did spamming chargeshot make you an experienced player? Oh I'm sorry, chargeshot/cripplingshot, chargeshot/chargeshot/chargeshot/cripplingshot. Wow that must take ALOT of skill and experience.

hitman all i have to say is ROFLMAO

You have no idea how to pvp as a carbineer if you think spamming those shots is how its done.

I dont think you will find a carbineer that will say hes godly or unbeatable. But i gurrentee i can beat any class any build at least some of the time. And sevral builds almost all the time. Its people that spam one or two specials all the time that let me say this. You read a forum and someone ses X special is best and this class with these skills is uber. So you go do that and yes you can kill prety good naturaly. But you dont have any idea why its good or wen to do it or what to do or wen to see that its not the best. You keep beating people that did the same thing as you and dont know what they are doing either...but you think your sooo smart. You cant be uber with a cookiee cutter build unless you actualy learn how it works.
