TAfirehawk, solo play is ending......?
Not entirely, but the way it is now will most certainly be ending....there is no way a Carbineer/CH as myself should be able to solo a Canyon Krayt or Giant Dune Kimo....
Of course the key word in your question is PLAY....nobody has played the CU yet, but it is coming to TC shortly for all to play at once.

TA- from what i've read, or at least, from what i think i've read in the various links you've posted, it seems like it would be possible for a carbineer to master bounty hunter and then get access to new carbineer specials they wouldn't otherwise have access to.
is this correct?
i think somewhere in one of the links, TH posted that additional specials will arise from the combination of professions. i think.
are there also carbineer/smuggler meta specials? carbineer/commando meta specials? and so on?

Don't think so, at least nothing I saw.....BH/Carbineer will be combined just like it is now (new trees or course), not some elite-elite type specials you are talking of.

i guess i was probably just reading too much into the following:
Commando
Primary Role: Heavy Weapon Specialist
Secondary Role: Medium Range Damage Specialist
Offense: Very Strong (5)
Defense: Moderate (3)
Crowd Control: Minimal (1)
The Commando is the specialist of Heavy Weapons. An entire line of unique heavy weapons are available in the Commando's arsenal. The Commando also receives many bonuses making them more proficient with standard weapons when combined with other profession skills. Whatever the damage dealing requirement is for a situation, the Commando has the answer.
Profession Mixing Tip: Commandos are intended to be the weapon specialists and are the final heavy damage dealing profession along with Rifleman and Swordsman. Commandos focus on their potent damage dealing capability rather than having a varied utility or strong defensive ability. Adding additional ranged profession skills to a Commando creates a very potent damage specialist because instead of having a few special abilities for a specific set of weapons, they can now stack their profession with other professions to gain a wide variety of special abilities. Alternatively Commandos may decide to increase their tactical flexibility by learning skills from other professions.

You are most certainly reading too much into it, a Prof will have Abilities but no meta-abilities when combined with another prof.
A BH/Carbineer will not have any more Abilities than one person with BH and another with Carbineer....except the skill mods stack better now but as far as Abilities go, 1+1=2, not 3 ![]()
Of course they are trying to make specials not dependent on the weapon used, so some interesting things happen in a Carbineer/Rifleman mix for instance.....but we all have to wait on TC to see ![]()

specials not dependant on which weapon is used could be a really cool thing for those hybrid professions like smuggler, commando, bounty hunter, etc.
but are you suggesting it might be possible to do an advanced headshot with a carbine? i mean, it makes sense, but its a giant leap in terms of the SWG combat system.
The "distinction specials" will be weapon specific

Yeah we can still hit A and M for debuffing purposes only, correct?
Not from the revision of the Docs I have.....but they are a number of weeks old....so we shall see later today on TC.
The plan is to have the CU on TC today if the hotfix testing goes ok right now, per Tiggs.

If I can keep it down in numbers I might open up my TS server as the best way to stay together while on TC with thousands of other folks.
