I remember reading a while back that the way it should work is that there are 3 hits, and there are different rolls for each hit as to what pool it will hit. For example, all 3 hits may hit 1 pool, or one hit on each of the 3 pools, or 2 hits to one pool and 1 hit to another, etc. Obviously, you have confirmed that if one is stopped, they are all stopped, but I'm still wondering about the way the damage is spread around if the attack is successfull.

Alll attacks leak to other pools....80% damage to the pool hit, 10% to each of the other pools...This happens with both random and non-random attacks...

Nice work TAFirehawk.

Curious how you did the damage multiplier calculations? What I do these days is fire endlessly and then go with the highest number I get and do the math based on the max damage of the weapon. That would imply that scatter has a 7.65x multiplier. Could it be so?

I took the average of about 100 shots.......and got somewhere between 7.0X and 7.5X

And you way makes a lot of sense to me.....but the damage modifier was not my main goal......all the other rumors were

Very nice, TAFirehawk. You are definitely one of the bigger contributers to the carbineer forums (if not the forums in general). So the carbineers (or a single one at least) figure this out after 2 weeks of discussion, whereas the fencers have been talking about this in rumor for the better part of 3 months now (I think)?

Two things which are PvP dependent to test which were not though. The first is if you have a 40 use synthsteak, and get hit with 10 scatter shot 2's (taking 30blocks of damage), will the synthsteak have 40 hits left, 30 hits left, 10 hits left, or 0 hits left. (40 if ignores synthsteak entirely, 30 if each shot counts as a hit despite mitigating 0 damage, and 10 if each block of damage does 1 hit, and 0 if each block of damage and the initial hit counts as a hit).

The other question is if synthsteak is ignored, or just rounds down the damage mitigation (from that 1 point of damage we are hypothesizing it is trying to mitigate). The easy way to test this would be to use some flameout (170% damage reduction) rather than synthsteak. This question is more academic than practical though.

I can tell you I had Synthsteak still active after taking at least 20 shots.....

I don't have any Flameout.....

And thank you, I would have tested it sooner but was taking a break and hadn't gotten my second Carbineer to ScatterShot2 until this weekend

That is only true for single pool attacks and random pool attacks, not for multi pool attacks such as scatter shot/hit, unarmed combo, etc. Scatter Shot 2 has the potential to do 33%/33%/33%. More than likely, the highest percentage of damage from any one shot to a single pool will be 80%, but that doesn't mean it can't be more spread out than 80%/10%/10%.

Sounds like some more testing needs to be done.....

Who is next.....

Well I suppose there are only two things that are IMPORTANT to know: 1) Damage Modifier and 2) Hit Rate on HAM Pools.

Did 50 trials the other day, and i ended up with a 7.6 Damage mod. Was using a CDEF vs. a variety of non-armoured mobs on Naboo. The synth steak revelation is pretty cool though. But i noticed that when i was recorded damage the mind damage was fairly low. Looks as if it hits on pool hard and then "bounces" a small amount on the other pools, but appears to follow the 3:2:1 Health:Action:Mind ratio

I've found scattershot to be a straight 33% chance for each pool. Fighting something like an enhanced kwi, which takes a lot of shots to kill, all 3 pools seem to go down at about the same rate.

This is so easy to test, I will use ScatterShot2 instead of FullAutoArea2 to level a bit on some Rancors

Obviously I didn't have time to record the color of the number above my head, but I can tell you it was RED more often than not so I strongly believe the 3/2/1 HAM ratio. But I won't make any statements of FACT until I test it fully.

I believe you are right, soloed a few Peko Peko Albatrosses, and they usually died to their health, but the other pools weren't that far behind. It definately doesn't favor health as much as cripplingshot.

I'd be more than happy to create an account on your server and mess around with some testing, if you can maybe hook me up with a few creds to get me on my feet. Or I can hook you up with a few things on Gorath if you'd like. Let me know if you up for it.

Could always hit me up too. I'm usually sitting around Theed staring at the ticket window trying to decide what to do, and end up wasting 3 hour buffs because there really isn't any content for Carbineers.
