Lol Doc/TK much better for hiding from civilization? Isn't that the whole point of that build? You don't need anyone except to clear BF every once in awhile?

personally I don't think you will like it because you are not the GRIND TYPE. Jedi requires a lot of grinding hrs

No it's not worth it as it is right now. Hopefully the jedi revamp will make it fun and interested. The first few boxes are fun and easy to get but once you hit the boxes that need 800k jedi xp (equivalent of combat xp) it just ends up looking long and drawn out.

Not to mention it always seems to be a race between getting the next box vs.. having your saber fall apart. Meaning that everytime I play Jedi under the current system I always look at my saber condition and wonder if I can afford to replace it once it breaks. So unless you have around 30 pearls and or 300 million credits then its just best to wait until the new system and hope that Jedi will be able to craft crystals.

I would say do it now, 3 months is plenty of time to unlock, and its going to suck waitinf 3 months to get started on becoming FS when it will take longer with the new system.
P.S.

Dear god dude....triple post....isn't that some sort of record? I agree with them to a certain extent....I started grinding pretty hard after thanksgiving and unlocked by january 6th. But then again I am one of those guys that "real jedi" hate cuz I unlocked at 11.

i just wanna do it for the extra character on my account so i can have evil twins. when you get a 'jedi' do you have to play it as a jedi? or can you make it just a master chef. or does it just blow up if you do that or what?

I've said it multiple times before on multiple threads titled the same as this one (go figure). Jedi is NOT AT ALL worth it. Jedi was supposed to be a reward for experiencing the rest of the game, and I feel shafted every time I log in. I'm a 4 2 1 3 Guardian (nearly Master) and I can't bring myself to finish the tree, it's just so damned boring and so weak. I've played nearly all the combat professions (still haven't done Carbineer) and I can honestly say that every single combat template I've played has a better PvP ability than a Jedi Guardian (yes, even pikeman and BH). This is mainly because Jedi have only 1 choice for damage type (kinetic) and it is 90% resisted by good composite armor. On top of this, we have no defenses vs. Melee, and nearly no defenses vs Ranged. No def vs range modifier, our block doesn't work on status effects, our block is nearly stopped completely by intimidate and stun, and we have absolutely no status effect defense mods. Anyone can kill us, and I do mean anyone. I've seen Knights fall to a Master Marksman (no other skills, just Master Marksman), and I've seen Knights fall to Master Brawlers. It's almost pathetic to call this skill set "Jedi" as it completely misrepresents the powerful class that you see in the movies and read about in the EU. I've never seen something that was LESS like Jedi in my entire life. All of our force powers are either based off our weapon (kinetic) or restraint damage type. While the restraint makes sense for the powers, it is also highly resisted by armor. Force lightning is a KINETIC ATTACK?!?!? Since when does a giant bolt of lightning not do electrical damage? Not only do force powers do very little damage against armor, they barely ever hit. Our aim seems to be **edit** near horrendous. We'd be lucky to hit the broad side of the Theed Starport.
To sum it all up, no, I don't think that Jedi is worth it, and if I had known what I know now I wouldn't have bought the game. Lets hope that the revamp makes Jedi the profession to fear like it always should have been instead of the squeak toy that gets chewed on by every one of the BH mutts.

I unlocked in mid-december. I went through various stages of frustration, anger, helplessness, apathy, etc. I quit playing my jedi and started doing the personal goals I wanted to finish before I quit. Three or four weeks ago I found out I could solo krayt juveniles. I found 2 pearls.
Having pearls makes the class playable, even with a 3rd gen saber like mine. I've actually been having fun lately. I've been a lot more relaxed in the game. It took a lot of pressure off. I was considering renewing my account when it expires in a few months. Then pub 8 hit. No more pearls. In about 30 juvis and a giant no pearls have dropped. My saber's decaying faster than I can begin to describe. When it's gone I'll be in the same boat I was before.
So, I can see how the class could be quite fun to play, but I'm not an uber millionaire. I'm not in an uber guild. (My guild has 2 people left including me. April saw a lot of cancellations in my peer group. CoH hit big.) Getting pearls is very hard. Grinding juvis is no fun. It takes a lot of time and effort and expense that I'd rather spend playing. Where does that leave me?
Pub 9 is probably going to be make or break. I've been having a lot of fun lately, but the prof needs fixing starting with lightsabers. If Pub 9 doesn't address saber construction and force regen in a big way, I may slip between the cracks and join my friends in a new game. I don't want to. I want to keep playing SWG. As long as I'm having fun I will, but Pub 9 better be pretty darn good.
Is it worth it? It might be after Pub 9.
