Thread: Combat Balance Suggestions
While I appreciate the vote of confidence from all of you, the Carbineer Forum is a group effort.....starting with The Great Novamarine. Thankfully this community is rich in quality individuals where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. I am but one of the spokes on the wheel.
Of course I over-reacted to one person's disrespect which I shouldn't do, but I care too much about this to not be offended in some situations and take things personally. I hope everybody sees that as my love for the game and the people that play it. Now if the previously mentioned troll had offered up his own points for the Combat Balance, well I might have taken a different tone. But to make such an attack and offer up no discussion deserves no respect.
I am also truly touched by the posters coming here and showing their support of me in particular.....you can disagree and change the content of my message of course
But the appreciation of my contributions to the Carbineer Community means an awful lot to me ![]()

You are pretty new aren't you?????
Those cap levels you speak of won't do sh!t and I was trying to be nice even, as a starting place that could go either way....just look at Mando or RIS armor stats, it has been stated that Comp will be LOWER than those. I didn't just pull these numbers out my arse.
And FotM is Flavor of the Month and refers to the uber PvP templates in the game, right now is defense stackers and rifleman and CM's.
The TEF's I am speaking of are for the GCW only. Simply take away all situations that create the TEF, grouping, healing, buffing, trading.....now that will be fair and open PvP....
yeah yeah shut up![]()
dont know too much about the limits set and all that, so meh.

Stop trying to bignote yourself as a "community leader". You are not a leader, it's just your message board title due to number of posts and start date. I have the same title and it doesn't mean anything.
You're probably much newer to MMORPGs than those of us who have been playing since there were only text MUDs.

Go back to whatever sh1t forum you came from and let the CARBINEERS speak here.
i couldn't have said it better myself
And Ithink TAfirehawk's suggestions are far too weak. They wouldn't even come close to solving the problems. The reason I didn't have time for a full response above is that I'm a shift worker and last week I was covering for two absent colleagues. Here's what I think now that I have time:
- Reduce armor by 25% and make that the cap....ie Comp caps at 67.5% Totally disagree. 67.5% is far too strong and the PvE game would still be too easy and PvP fights still too long, even with a reduction in buffs. And everyonewould still wearcomposite. Different armour typesshould be needed for different situations. The highest protection should be under 40% given that you also have food protections and PSGs in the game.
- Reduce buffs by 50% and cap at 1500 Disagree again. I was a 4-4-4-3 Doctor in beta and wrote Tale's Medic Guide which was how many people learned Medic/Doctor back then. I've been a Master Doctor since release and make some of the best buffs on my server. And I think buffs should benerfed into the HUNDREDS of points, not thousands. A 1500 point cap is way too high and would still make people far too strong in PvE.
- Reduce Speed of all professions so nobody but a BH gets a cap on anything ranged, even with SEA's....same goes for melee agree, but i'd probably reduce it even more than you're thinking, because what I have in mind is a game where people needto group up
- Place weapon type speed caps for each profession to keep the DPS in the same area but not identical that could be achieved through number 3 - otherwise you need to revamp Weaponsmith
- Move weapon damage types around to give distinction in each ranged/melee profession, but don't exclude anybody from high-end content by putting resists cap on creatures and NPC's at 90% Agree that there is a problem with carbineers being excluded from some high-end PvE content due to 100% resists and damage types, but the basic problem is that EVERYONE should be excluded from high-end content unless they have a group of multiple professions. It was the intention of the game's designers that nobody should be soloing high-end content with any profession except perhaps Jedi, so your suggestion doesn't go far enough.
- Fix/add Specials and Abilities to each profession to give distinction obvious, but very vague here
- Remove entire TEF system in GCW by taking away all ways that a player gets a TEF from an Overt of the same faction Disagree entirely. The TEF system is one of the best things about SWG and the only people who dislike it are the PvE carebears who think they should havea right to be in a faction without danger. Joining a faction should continue to mean that you are open to PvP if you do anything in support of that faction. The only problem I'd like to see fixed with regard to TEF is its abuse - for example exploitation of group TEF (which is used the same way as "revenge TEF" used to be). There should also be a delay after cloning similar to the 60 second delay after a rez. GCW bases should not be able to be placed within500m of an alliedcloning center.

You really need to get that attitude in check. It's getting old.

We the players of Valcyn apologize for letting MorvenDee out of his cage. We'll get the stick out, and teach him not to bother you nice people anymore.
I've never heard of you, butyou seem to thinkyou know all about me, to the point where you can apparently comment on my views.Maybe sometimeyou could step out of the biggest rebel city on the server and introduce yourself to others before you speak for "we the players of Valcyn".
