Thread: Next question please...

Questions are confrontations. They are challenges to the Devs to either defend their decisions or change them to reflect something resembling common sense.


Personally, I'd like to know why even though I am spamming FullAutoSingle2 at a target that is 100% resistance to my damage, I can't get a state to stick? Is it a damage threshold that must be crossed before a state applies?


How about that one, Nova and Co.?

Along these same lines, what about us getting Intimidate on WildShot instead of Stun which we already have the whole FullAuto Series for that.


This probably isn't the place to ask for new things, but we need to put the bug in the Devs ear somehow








I'd pick that as my second choice, though deep down I know the devs will shrug that one off and come up will another generic "wait til the combat rebalance" answer. I do agree it might be a good idea to "put the bug in the devs' ears."

I'd drop the whole leg shot 3 issue. After the revamp, no profession will have any pool specific attacks.

I have no problem being confrontational, but as long as it is a means to an end.....which this wouldn't be IMO

I am torn between this one and the accuracy vs. accuracy while moving question. Right now they are tied for #1 with me. Keep in mind, the devs are not going to want to reveal certain dynamics of the game to the public (for example, they would not tell us exactly how speed worked, we had to gigure it out for ourselves). Also, we don't know exactly what they plan on changing in the rebalance, so they way accuracy or applying states works now may not be the same when the rebalance is out. It's tough asking a question pertaining to combat right now knowing the whole system is getting an overhaul. Perhaps we should lead off with "Is _______ going to change with the rebalance, and if not, how does it work?"


Nova, how long do we have until we must submit the question?

I say screw the question.....lets ask nothing.....


SOE is just doing this to make themselves look good to the Community, but there is no purpose for the Combat Profs because of the Combat Balance. Personally I don't like smoke blown up my arse.....

We have until next week. I try to open discussion early so that I do not surprise anyone with the topic.


I am against the states question even though it is very relevant because the answer really gets us nothing. If the answer is, you must do damage to get the state to stick, where do we go from there since they are not going to change our damage types soon. If the answer is, you do not need to do damage to get the state to stick, well then we have identified a bug they wont fix until the revamp. Don't get me wrong. I think this is an important issue, but at the same time I think it is important to ask a question that gets us something... anything... even if it is only a small piece of knowledge.








If we don't do it as a question, can we add it to the Top 5? I understand your position, but its kind of important for us to know if we're screwed by design or by mistake.



As far as a question idea, my best would be. Now what?

In some way I can think that it would be really cool not asking any question at all. Being a bit cocky and saying... "Well, we have our profession figured out and it works just fine."


But on the other hand, that ain't exactly the truth. We do work fine, but I'll be damned if I know how.


Since I've never been any other elite combat profession I get a bit confused about knockdown. Do all professions knockdown last for a fraction of a second? To me it seems like it's bugged when you knock someone down and they get up in an instant. It's only at master Carbineer I've ever managed to get the knockdown bonus on damage, since before I mastered my speed was to low, I never got of a second shot before my target stood back up.


Now, It might be that this is intended, knockdown is only supposed to work in tandem with dizzy. But on the other hand, if that is true it minimizes the strategical choices to be made in PvE agains non-NCP's. You use Full Auto Single or Full Auto Area because that gives maximum damage output and haves the chance to inflict the states that actually matter against birds, apes, bugsand quadropeds.


I like fighting NPC's like Borvo Thugs and Stormtroopers a lot more since I then get to do a few strategical choices about which specials to use. It ain't PvP but on the other hand, I'm not cut out for PvP anyway.


But I digress, sorry...

My point to all this was that if our KD is shorter than other professions or if all KD is the same quickie... what about extended downtime?

You must have a very slow connection with horrible lag.....ChargeShot1/2 work just like all the other KD shots. The KD timer is 5 seconds and the immunity timer is for 25 seconds after the KD timer is done.


Yes many many many people have tested this and it is working just fine. In fact I used it quite often with my 3404 Carbineer last night.

Apparently my memory didn't serve me well. The post I read about this stated that we will still have pool specific attacks, but they will have decreased accuracy and are no longer guaranteed to hit the targeted pool. Now, this is all hearsay and not directly from a Dev, so take it as you may, but this guy says he was at FanFest and one of the Devs (Dave White) was quoted as saying this. On a sad note TA, if this guy is right, we are going to have to scrap our spread sheets, as the speed formulas will also be overhauled. For now, I am witholding from making any drastic shanges to my character, buying any new weapons, or buying any new armor until the rebalance.

Believe me, every little chance I get I complain about our lack of damage types and states not sticking on high end mobs. My complaints have been noticed and cataloged. And that doesn't mean I haven't stopped complaining either.
