Thread: Entertainer's Have NO Credits!
I'm glad you are trying to help out, but I do not know if the ideas you have proposed will be in the best interests of the class. Perhaps certain segments in the class, but not the class as a whole, and how it interacts with the game.

I agree with Lode and have stated it in many forum threads all over the board. I use to be a master dancer but gave it up after mind wounds removed as I could see the path it was going. Entertainers have been cremated in the forums period anytime they had an issue making ATK entertainers lose heart at community response to them because players were forced to stop and heal once in awhile.
Devs had more or less laughed at the broken parts until they started nerfing them then they added the prettys so the entertainers would think they were actually not getting nerfed..ya right..but then again the posts i read on dancer forum was incredibly upbeat when this was coming out and I still don't get how they could see that as a good thing lol.
With no pts entertainers who actually like to entertain, can earn credits in another area and entertain whenever they want to. More ppl would pick it up for the roleplay fun so would liven up the community a bit. Its a win win situation rather than let it dwindle to dust from people leaving it out of boredom of no customers.

I'm not an entertainer, but I feel obligated to make a stand for them. For the people who play entertainer because they enjoy the profession and actually play it at the key, I have to say, this last publish was very unfair to them. For those of you who are only combat oriented let me put it this way, taking away the need for battle fatigue to be healed is the same as giving all weapons and unarmed melee no damage. As compensation for taking away your damage, SOE generously lets you equip any type of weapon you'd like to so that your toon would look cool. However, if you happen to be a rifleman, no worries, you can still use cover up. Or if you're aTKA your innate armor is stillthere.Essentially that's what happened to Entertainers. SOE took away the"damage" themainpurpose of theirclass, gave themthingsto"look cool" andlet them keep the one inspiration buff.
Your analogy is entirely flawed. If they took away a combat profs ability to deal damage, that profession is absolutely useless. Entertainers can still serve a role. They can still provide inspiration. Truth be told, BF was a minor annoyance at worst. I only bothered to watch entertainers for the inspiration buff. I hated having to wait forever for my BF to go away because it kept me from hunting. If the entertainers were actually engaging it wouldn't have been so boring. So now I go to get my inspiration buff. If the entertainer is actually at the keyboard then they get tipped. If not I get my buff and leave. It is simple. Crafters don't get paid for not crafting. Pilots don't make money by not flying, and hunters don't make money by not hunting. It is simple really.
If you ask me, based on the responses of the non-entertainers, the main role of an entertainer is to give inspiration buffs. That extra 10% xp does more for me than a reduced incap time. How often do you get incapped without a healer right next to you these days?

Correct me if I am mistaken, but how did BF ever "prevent" you from hunting?
It seems like it was always you who prevented you from hunting, and are using BF as an excuse.
BF made self-healing and buffing reduced to nothing so in that sense made hunting lots harder

All you have to do when I enter the cantina to get the insp-buff is to target me, do /smile and say "hi, hows it going?" Ill watch and listen, get my buff and tip you onthe way out. Simple as that.
#1 reason I don't greet people as often is just this. I would talk to them and get nothing....no response...no /nod......zilch. I have watched the same thing happen to other atk ents. They would greetevery person that walked in the door. After a month or so of rarely getting replies they just gave up and slowly vanished into the woodwork. Entertainers like Sirii I have the upmost respect for and can not fathom how they still are trying to save somethingso many others have written off as a lost cause.
#2 reason is when they actually do their definition of being "entertained" involves things that can't be put in these forums. I have gotten some pretty wacky/disturbing/perverted tells. I shouldn't have to stoop to prostitution to get decent tips like some others I have witnessed. *shudder*
Granted #2 isn't the only time people have responded in the past. There are those rare moments when people just talk to you and vice versa. Even just a simple nod if you dont feel like talking cando wonders.Money is nice but being treated like a person is worth a whole lot more .....at least to me.

While I agree the new changes have made life for entertainers harder, your post sounds whiny and immature. You sound like you expect to be given money just for being there. I never ask for tips, I earn them. I do what I can to truly entertain the people who come in, and it makes me sad to see people who think the game owes them a living.
Why so harsh? Every profession needs a way to earn cash, and now entertainers have no services to offer and they arent combat type so they cant do missions. Do you epect them to become cyber prostitutes to get credits or something? That post was not at all whiny or immature. Entertainers got slammed by the removing the need for them.
If you're truly that hard up for cash, do Entertainer missions. You'd make more than enough money for training. Sounds like the groups your in aren't even worth it, if they're not helping by teaching skills.
BORING..man..what a waste to limit the profession do being able to NOTHING but run terminal missions. How bout you do that and see how fun it is having no options.
Should we have an environment where playersare encouragedto visit us, and are discouraged from AFKing their way through the professions and making our play area unlivable? yes.
Should the game force people to give you money for just being there? no, not if you're not working for it.
There was no proposal to foce people into paying for nothing. SImply one to have something entertainers can offer that other players actually care about. Simple as that. And entertainers used to have that with buffs and BF healing.

Do you think I will waste my time playing an Entertainer? HELL NO! What was going through your minds as the developers who came up with this brillant idea to remove Battle Fatigue and not give us something else we can heal, or even buff. You just eliminated almost an entire Profession Tree + Elite Trees because of this publish. If you wish to keep people wanting to play an Entertainer Profession, Do something to make them WANT to play.
