Thread: Entertainer's Have NO Credits!

With my crafting toon I go to the cantina all the time. She used to be a dancer in Jabba's palace, so she knows a lot of the entertainers. She goes to cantina just to bs with the entertainers. Some are new faces she doesn't know, but still very entertaining. Try playing this game for fun sometimes, not just to get ahead.

Well it pretty much loos like it's a "just for fun" profession anymore.

All I ever wanted was to be a jedi since day one. Well my dream came true.
Well I finally made it to jedi, not by my own doings but because SOE/LA made it so.
If things could go back like it was I would gladly give up jedi. In the mean time I am going to play my game and enjoy the opportunity to be jedi while I can before it ends.

These are my thoughts on the idea of the Entertainer Proffession

Entertainers at this time have no problem making money: This is becasue for FS/JEDI grinders have a massive need for something that increases the amount of exp they get per kill. Also medium level players need inspiration buffs too, granted that they will not be able to tip like the grinders becasue they most likely do not have a fortune built up yet. BF never produced huge tips and sometimes they never induced tips at all, buffs are always tipped for, if the giver requires it first.

Entertainers have 2 massive problems:

(1) Entertainers now have no importance/use/involvement with the advanced population. Once you are at full temp and have decided not to go jedi (thats me lol) or once you have reached full temp jedi, you have no need to ever see an entertainer again. I have not seen one entertainer since the CU. It should not be possible for me to have no interaction with an entire 1/4 of the proffessional wings of star wars galaxies (Scout, combat, crafting, entertainment).

(2) The end of concentraited populations, being forced to wait is a huge blow to entertainment, and especially to combat people, attempting to sell their loot, who do not have alts of bussiness skills (When i was selling jetpack parts i got from DWB, i would have had no chance without the concentaited area of coronet). I remember coronet used to be filled pre-JLT, no it is a ghost town. WIthout this area there is no way for entertainers to hold a captive audience, considering they are devoid of purpose for High Level(Very likely to tip high) players.

Supermite, calm you nerves. I told you I was never afk when I am playing my Entertainers and I mean it. To tell you the truth I was in the Cantina in Mos Eisley (Bria Server)in Spatial for 10 hrs straight on my Wookiee named Cup-Cake talking with people, trying to entertain people and all. Want to know how much tips I made? 5000 credits!! And guess what? That was from a person in my group who felt sorry for me for doing all that work to earn credits and was ignored. So don't tell me that people who do actually sit behind the keyboard and play their entertainers get rewarded. If I was an AFK female character running a macro with a slutty word pornography spam I'd make more credits. This AFK'er, who'll remain nameless, made over 400,000 credits in the same amount of time that I made 5000.

You obviously didn't see what I was trying to say when you decided to try and say that I don't do the work and don't deserve the tips. I was trying to say bring back the OLD /perform (or whatever the command was) that you had to use on someone who was listening/watching to you, to give them an additional buff. Yeah some might go and make a macro for that, but not many have the know how to make such macros. Therefore leaving most of the Entertainers giving out that buff no choice but to not be afk.

Triarius, thank you. That's a more indepth reason for this post. And also what was said earlier by JediGal777 said "Basically the whole profession is useless anymore. No battle fatigue? Why bother going to the cantinas anymore?" Entertainers are going down the hole. Either take them out, or give them some true purpose. I shouldn't have to rely on AFK Entertainers to come back from AFK to train because I don't get tips. Give me some worth so I can have a better chance at making tips and be able to train on the funds I get. Hell I'm not out to make Millions of this. I'm just out to Master these Professions for the badges. I'm making my other character broke by sending money over to pay for this training.

Master Entertainer costs: 35,000 Credits

Master Dancer another: 135,000 Credits

Master Musician another: 135,000 Credits

Master Image Designer another: 135,000 Credits

Total: 440,000 Credits

Out of this I paid maybe 45k from tips. The rest was out of my other character's pocket. This is not a "whine" about not making tips this is a shout out to the DEVS to give Entertainers some purpose that is worth paying for.

I always tip my entertainers a few thousand credits, as longas I can find one who isn't /afk.

And if they go that extra mile to really entertain people, then I tip them a muchlarger amount. For example:If they are talking to the people watching, putting on a show with a droid or props, singing a song in spatial chat, or even just having a bio that's entertaining to read. Anything that makes the visit to the cantina interesting.

There's nothing more boring than going to the cantina for an inspiration buff, and seeing the same old dance and song routine I've seen a thousand times over the last two years. If you are not going to do anything special to deserve a big tip, than I'm not going to give it to ya.

I tip entertainers 1k - 30k depending on them actually entertaining and if the musicians play songs I really like they get the higher tips.

- I'll always miss pre-CU but I still have fun.

It was a sarcastic summary of these boards, and that applies to your post as well.

I try to bring a little humor to this board of complainers and in your genius you could not understand that it was sarcastic, had you read the end I'm sure you could have.

I did not mean to imply that you were an AFK entertainer. It is naive to think that few people have the intelligence to either create an AFK macro or find one on the internet somewhere. If those macros are so hard to create why were there so many AFK macro bots in PRE-CU days?

My experience as an entertainer, musician, or dancer has always been that the at keyboard players always get more attention because they can cater to the players coming in. You can respond to what people are saying to their friends in spatial, or just respond to the person in general. You can converse with them. An AFK player cannot do that. That is just my experience and apparently that of others as well.

If those AFK dancers are sitting there spouting off obviously sexual content in spatial send them tells asking them to stop. Talk to them in spatial. If they stop, good on you. If they don't, that is what the /report *insert player name* is for.

I'm displeased with the removal of BF from the game. I was training as Doctor/Dancer as non combat but since CU I've been dumping my Dance points. IMHO the game was more interesting when you had to take care of BF. You might as well remove the whole Entertainer career now since it serves no purpose.
