Thread: Something that Needs to be Stopped!

A friend of mine was telling me a while ago, how a player who had the (HELPER) status displayed, bought his BARC off him for 20k and a Tuskan rifle claiming it was a rare item. This was just after the Total Experiance pack came out and he started playing the game. BARC's were worth 1.5 mil tops then but it still shows how corrupt the financial system of the game has become.
Something definatly needs to be done about this.
This practice has nothing to do with the honesty, or lack thereof, of the financial system. It has everything to do with people taking advantage of other people's ignorance. As stated elsewhere, this is just like real life.
A new player certainly gets burned by the experience. However, a new player does not necessarily have a lot invested in the game or the character. Live and learn.

Your arguemnt that the market detirmines the price and that the buyer was happy until a third paty stepped in are fine.
But
In the real worl i think i would know if i had a 3-5million dollar item in my possesion. I also wouldnt be expeirnce in the world for the first time as an adult fully clothed on some strange planet.
Its wrong to rob them of that item but then again its wrong for them to even have that item. Why would noobs just be given some kick as bike? Thats the reason they are getting robbed, because it stupid for a noob player to be just given an item of that caliber. Easy come easy go
Actually you might not. If you were given something obscure as a gift, you might have no idea of it's actual worth. Or worse, you might have a very wrong idea about the value of the item. Like someone told you that it was worth a few hundred and to wait a few years before selling without realizing that it was actually much more.
They're given the item because it's a promotional to attract them to the gamne. It's not wrong by any means. You don't deserve better things simply because you've been around longer. If marketing WANTS to give to promotions to vets, they can, but in no way do you deserve the items.
Leana_Txorana wrote:Not sure dishonorable is the right word. The idea is to buy low and sell high. If someone does not know the value of thier item, is it the role of the seller to tell them. Also, most of these people were happy with the deal until a third party stepped in. If I sell my BARC for 20K and am happy, it does not matter that the buyer sells it for more.
Sure I think dishonorable is the right term. Doing this is not scamming as other posters have said. It does follow the buy low, sell high principle. However exploiting the ignorance of newbies is hardly something to be proud of.

Um.....as far as the devs stated and i understood what they stated.
You can only have one per account. That means, only one toon on one server on one account can have the BARC reward. If you are getting more than one, then put in a /bug ticket and/or contact a CSR.
As for other maybe having more than one BARC, they bought them off of other players or they have more than one account.
It's AWARDED to one toon per account. The BARC is tradeable, you can own as many as you want. It means if you have 10 toons, nine of them will not get it (which I think is stupid, every toon you have should get one, just like the flash speeder).

giving any promotion that offers a highly collectible item in a highly collectible atmosphere set this all in motion,
If people were given the option of picking one of these out as a 6 month vet reward none of this would have happened.
I bought a barc under this macro :BARCS ARE WORTH MILLIONS TO SOME BUT NOT TO ME.ILL GIVE YOU 200K
AND 2 SETS OF THESE CRAPPY JEDI CLOTHES SEND A T/.
This took me 5 minutes b4 i had a noob named sajii telling me i was a scammer lol.
We proceeded to talk talk, here was the just of the conversation,
filo: I am not scamming you i am telling you what these are worth and what ill give you, How is that a scam?
sajii: they are worth 6 million dollars and all you are paying is 200k for one. that is scamming.
filo: no it is not, i have clearly told you what these are worth to some millions. but not to me because I do not believe they are worth
that amount. Some people will pay you that but not me.
sajii: why does everyone want one of these?
filo: because they can not be destroyed permaneantly, they are a special offer only availably when you buy a new game.
sajii: why are they worth 6 million?
filo: because a lot of people that have been playing for a while have that kind of money. They are willing to spend that amount.
I have been playing 4 months and have nowhere close to that type of money. So i will not pay that for one.
sajii: can i see the jedi clothing?
filo it is made by a guy in coronet it is pretty awesome, it doesnt have any powers but it is cool looking and you will look like a jedi.
sajii: sweet, this stuff is pretty cool, how do you find it?
filo:I found it on the vendor search, some crafter makes it. It is the only stuff like that ive found.
sajii: hey ill rade my barc to you for 200k and those clothes, its not worth 6 million i want an ab1 they are sweet.
filo: ok cool lets trade.
1. he was not stupid or scammed.
2. he was well aware of value from everyone running around yelling what a few people could afford.(not me)!!!
3. shop around. It pays to shop around period.
4. I did this because i wanted a barc and had already purchased galaxie and jtls and the manuel(which is no good)ans i was not gonna buy T.E, also the barc is still not worth millions of dollars tome, maybe to you but not to me. in fact want to buy my barc for 10 million dollars ? cuz if any fool is willing to part with 10 million bones for a barc your nuts.
props to you, man. I'm inspired. I wanted a BARC for one of my characters, but if I add up all 7 galaxies worth of credits together I might maybe add up to 1 million. Now I know that there's a chance to get one... even if I have to do a little work.
