I am MSW / Master Smuggler lvl 54 (?) with a nice krayted/sliced/pup'd pistol .I display no profession tag .I hang out in a popular starport and craft engines to throw on the bazaar .I've hada bunch people in the last 2 weeks think it would be funny to challenge the /afknoob to a duel . Some of them are not smart enough to cancel the duel andwalk off.Much to their surprise the /afk noob just incap'd and DB'd them .Them I go right back to where I was standing and laugh at the hate tells .

Hello there,

Long time reader, first time poster. This thread caught my eye and I have a bunch of funny stories just like y'all. I'm not a crafter or artisan in anyway but am treated like a noob or struggling level builder in mycombat classes.

Pre-CU I was a one-man army. All melee. Indestructible.

Post-CU I'm still all melee. Hanging tough, way harder... but thanks to the ol' FS skill boxes my combat level has steadily fallen from CL80 to the mid- to low-70s.

Lots of combat folks arrogantly think that I cannot fight and constantly challenge me to duels. It's funny how hung up folks get on a few numbers in a circle, eh? And not just the crafter types!

Stay safe,

In that same boat To misquote a movie, 'Noob is as noob does.' Act like a noob, don't learn how to play, do silly things like assume somebody's a noob just 'cause they're a low character level (sounds VERY silly to me--I know a pure entertainer who could blast me out of the sky in space, got something like a million prestige points because she became an Ace not long after JTL came out, but she's level 1 on the ground 'cause she'd rather play music and dance than fight if she's not in her Krayt cockpit), then I'd say you're a noob, yeah. Me, four-month veteran that I am, I don't think I'm a newbie anymore, I haven't been around the block often, but I've been there. Still tons to learn, but I'm doing so.

Try this...Create a macro that you can hotkey that says:"I'm not a noob, I am a longtime player and now tht you have belittled me, I will pay to have you killed when they revamp the BH profession to do so." Have a nice day you "POOR Bastage"

And I think that's also a very good point to be made here in the B & E forum. I get the feeling many who post here fit into 2 very strict categories - Either you ARE the complete noob coming into the arena of SWG Finance, or you are a long time vet of the Economy . Doesn't seem to be much in between here.
But the whole real point as a response to the actual point of the topic.. It really IS a case of identity in this game. Either you are "well known" and therefore nobody even CARES about your Level, or you have been one what *I* call the SIlent players. They may make great items, they MAY be the richest person on the server - But have been so quiet and introverted that when you are seen out in the "world", you are easily mistaken for a new player constantly.
(This actually could be considered good on servers where people tend to have the "tip first and get the noob outta your face" mentality)

Hehe, yes, being well known makes up for combat level. People "worship" my level 1 SW for his goods, this is far better than any combat level

But it is a pity that you need level 80 for pvp, no more mixed fun, just pure combat or no pvp

That in itself is the thing killing the game for me, that very last line above. I'm forced to be a partial crafter and be denied the chance at PvP, or I go 100% combat and then have nothing else to do. Right now I'm a Rifleman/Shipwright, lol, but the game is setup to force me to be a Rifleman/Combat of some other combat profession. Why? And until I get an answer to that "Why?" question, then they can do without my $15 a month.

Hehe I've been there too, had recreated one of my characters on Chimaera right after the cu and so I was standing in Mos Eisley (CL 11 at the time)with my BARC and get a tell from someone trying to buy it for a fraction of the price they were selling for at the time, tell him that I know they sell for 5-6 mil and right as I was taking my luxury yacht to another planet I catch him saying out loud how he hates noobs that know the game already. I send him a tell saying that I'm not a noob as I've actually been around for over a year, his then asked if that was sad just to him for me only being CL 11, naturally I tell him "Yeah probably because you don't know any of the facts, I recreated". He was some CL 50 or 60 something but apparently still very much a noob with nary a clue lol.
