Thread: Locked Containers
First time I was a smuggler was at release and back then, locked containers were easy to get a hold of. Now I can't find one if my life depended on it. What drops them most often so I can find my own?
Arken Kell
NPC's man.....Mummer thugs, ragtag cooks, even stormtroopers.
Best way is probably to spam at a busy starport.
Buy them off the Bazaar, shout that you're either looking to buy them, or slicing for free and paying 1k if you fail, (then use a clamp), they keep the contents.
WIth an eye to the future, since I made slicing 4 I'm hanging on to any locked container I loot now to help out friends to take up the profession, or even strangers that are in it for the long haul ![]()
Word of warning about buying locked containersfromtheBazaar or Vendor ... sometimes Smugglers attempt to slice containers and fail thus causing the container to be locked forever. I've come across a few on the bazaar that I've purchased only to find out they cannot be sliced.
Fellow Smugglers ... let's help each other and destroy any container that you fail to slice.
Well, I saved a few containers, as did a friend of mine, then I went to coronet starport, where I had only a couple of hits, then I got bored and went hunting.
When I got back, I called out once and a guy came over with 6 saying he'd been looking for someone to slice these for him for ages! Can't have been looking too hard but thanks!
Also, the first guy I sliced for paid me 1k, before I noticed in the secure trade window!
I had to run after him and give it back....All he had in there was 1 unit of steel and a CDEF pistol...
I couldn't find locked containers for the life of me. I killed all sorts of NPC's, mostly around Mos Eisley. What I finally did was buy them. Coronet was where i got most of mine. ALSO, I bought a crate of clamps. they make sure you don't waste the containers you get. Nothing like spending 3k on a container only to have it "buzz angrily" at you.
And Yes, Let's all destroy containers that have been permanantly locked to make it easier on up and coming smugglers.

I've spent the last two days standing in front of both the Theed and Coronet Star Ports begging like a common street urchin to virtually no avail for locked containers.
I've even resorted to offering 2-5K for locked containers (depending on the competition). That helped me get to Slicing I last night.
Combined with buying crates of clamps, it's obviously getting to be an expensive venture. I've managed to save quite a few credits, but I feel like I'm setting a bad precedent for offering that many credits. I am worried that I will need to keep doing this until I get Slicing II (Mission Terminals only offer 100XP and can only be done repeatedly at certain intervals).
Some people on this board have mentioned that they have been able to buy locked containers from the Bazaar. I was wondering how often that works. I've only really seen unlocked containers at the Bazaar.
If there are in fact locked containers on the bazaar, can someone tell me if that's really worth it to buy them?
Thanks
Mention to fellow members in your PA that you need to them make Master Smuggler faster. Then if they loot them they can bring them to you to be unlocked, or just stash tons of them in the PA Hall for when you get there.
I gave 1 away last night after realizing that someone I had apparently been shadowing was a novice smuggler. Could have been anything but novice, but he had the title up so I gave him a container I had looted. *shrug* I don't need them. Look for Slicers or Master Smugglers and ask if they have any you can have/buy.
Try and find a vendor that seels smuggling supplies as well. I've found locked containers on a half dozen or so of them. Usually only 2 or 3 but multiply that by 4 - 6 vendors and it's a pretty good haul.
Until you get Slicing 1 out of the way it really is a pain, but then it's just a grind. Boring, but a ton easier. Good luck to you ![]()
I lucked out again, one guy came in with 7 more. Not a bad haul from one player. I would advise buying off the bazaar, too much possibilty of getting a container that was a slice failure. I would advise using clamps, containers are tough to get, I know I personally lost at least 1.5k of experience for lack of clamps. I like the idea of offering to pay for failed slices- especicallywhen using clamps *hehe*.
I am not a master at this or anything yet, but starting to get the hang of it. Now that I have slicing one down, I have been sitting next to the mission terminals slicing them (no clamps- not for 100xp) then in between grinding spice. Spam the occasional "Selling spice" and "slicing containers" routine passes the time. If I get sick of doing that, hit a few missions. So even if I am waiting for the big elephant with 20 containers to pass by, I am at least productive.
Its a bit of a numbers game containers, they are out there, just have to wait for the right person to walk by. Trick is to be productive and not waste too much time while waiting. Ill even make some stims or get some apprentice points while waiting.
