I just made UnarmedIV, did most of it without knucklers even when I could use them.
Tactics are KEY to being a brawler .... it is obvious that the designers IDEAL view of the Brawler and Teras Kasi classes are to have NOONE playing them. Why else would we regularly be bent over the breakroom couch like we are every "patch". So let's look at some of the things we can do to make the best of what we have - I only fear that I am telling them how to make a bad situation worse.
Armor - get a Shield Generator - it protects against those pesky blaster dorks and offers some kinetic - higher end models should offer more kinetic resistance
Knucklers - Speed is the key - if you can get an unsliced set with a speed under 2.5 - then get them sliced for speed
Berserk - never used it ... never will ...
Blind - this is the fastest special move, it hits most often - use it first
Warcry - this slows the enemy - nothing is more important than getting hit less often
Intimidate - can be used AT RANGE
Lunge - Do Not Use against Gunfighters - it just gives them more bonuses
things to look forward to -
Dizzy, Knockdown, warcry, blind, intimidate, equip-knucklers ..... pound pound pound ..... unequip knucklers, knockdown, re-equip knucklers ... pound pound pound ..... repeat as neccesary .... don't forget to throw in a few witty comments ... you may even want to re-do your macros to always include them

I play a brawler on Flurry. I feel the class is working pretty well all around for PvE sorts of encounters. I can see where PvP would have some problems.
I have worked my way from a total noobie (about a week ago) to being a brawler with unarmed combat 4. I've never equipped a VK, and don't think I could the entire time anyhow... looks like the cert is at TK level now.
I can kill single blues all day without pressing a key, groups of up to 5 or 6 blues using whirl attack (generating a good a bit of exp all at once and lots of meat/hides for my scouting). I can take down whites safely, using blind and stun. I have NEVER managed to get a warcry to do anything; it always says "resists the delay". So, I just don't use it. I can kill yellows with some small risk. If I can stick the blind and stun early on they drop. That seems fair enough. I don't try reds, they kill me... but it takes a long time.
PvE is well balanced vs the monsters.
I do wonder why I get a -5 to hit at optimal range? Hey, if that's what it takes to balance great... just hide the number and make that a zero, I'll feel better. ![]()
PvP I've not tried. When I do I'll write something on it.

I would like to post a few things NOT like they will be heard or done anything with but hey ......
Intimidate : ranged action, reduces damage taken . intimidate2 just supposed to fail less .. currently working..
Warcry : ranged action about 35m max, freezes your opponent in thier tracks leaving them not able to attack currently.. NOT WORKING at all since the last big patch
Warcry2 : Ranged action about 35m max, frontal area effect freezing all opponents in a certain frontal cone to protect you ... what it did before the patch same thing as warcry1 just lasted a whole lot longer.. currently BROKEN NOT WORKING... since tha last patch
Lunge1 and 2 for all brawler classes .. Lunge1 is a 11m posture change move that forces your oppenent to kneel used with dizzy this is reall effective in knocking a player down ... can no longer do double lunge1 to force someone into prone due to 30 sec timer
Lunge 2 master brawler skill 11m ranged attack knockdown 30sec timer..
these are the things we can use vs. ranged people while on the run ... the one thing that is most effective is currently not working at all but developers or whoever responsible for messing it up says nuthing or is just refusing to fix it ... things are rediculous I am sticking with my brawler class i refuse to use a gun ... i wont downgrade to mind bleeds and eyeshot spam to kill someone that requires no skill or use of your skills that is 2 moves to dominate anyone as long as you have the faster better gun ...
brawler isnt worth having anymore im about to drop it, without the old lunge 2(NERFED TO USELESS)what do u have.
answer is nothing waste of alot of skill points to get what now intimidate 2 warcry 2 .... I think i can do better for 40 skill points

Very very true, I don't mind having the 30 second timer.. I can wait.. I can even ignore that berzerk 2 had no added advantage (It lasts longer.. whoopie.., that's not an advantage) but for them to take away the Warcry 2 that just makes me want to untrain master brawler. I would really really appreciate it if the dev's would be able to look into these issues and find some way of resolving them. But atleast make warcry 2 work... Anyhow, I've been a master brawler for quite some time and I knew when I started this game that it would be buggy, things wouldn't work.. It'll get fixed and that's why im not untraining master brawler but please fix it soon before I'm done working on my swordman tree. I could careless if I can mount things.. I just want to be able to yell at a creature and have it freeze because I scare the hell out of it with my cry of death! Rrrrraaaawrrr!

Well there a big part of the issue really, think about it 11m is 33ft just how realistic is it to be able to lunge at 33ft and hit an opponent with a gun.....comeon
But then we all kmow how naff the whole range issue is as dictated by the 64m limit where rifles are barely better than pistols!!
Any I dunno about anyone else but I am sick of NPC running up to me and getting hits EVEN when running at unrealistic distances ie beyone the physical reach in realistic terms.
But I think that once in close a Brawler should have an edge over someone using a pistol or any other weapon.
e.g. very early on Brawlers should have more varied moves including "weapon block or knock", I mean if you were fight hand to hand with a guy holding a gun the natural thing to do is try to knock it out of his hand or grab it and prevent it pointing at you.
The gunman would then have the choice run around and lose accuracy or drop the gun and duke it out.
This would encourage everyone to have basic unarmed combat, besides Smuggling for one requires it anyway.
Unarmed XP per kill really needs to be increased and as someone suggested Brawler missions would be a good idea........"Fight Club" ![]()
Kung Fu clubs, Karate Clubs, Gladiators for melae weapons.......... LOL
In fact would like to see unarmed as an entirely separate skill with different styles leading to a martial Arts Master.
Afterall consider this Jedi would surely be highly trained in unarmed combat.....what happens when your light sabre breaks mid combat ? ![]()
Higher Max Damage and better rifles for lower levels and with much superior accuracy to pistol at equivalent level.
Basically all the ranges are lame especially when NPC warp as often as they do and spawns appear as late as within combat range.
Ah well wishes wishes........... its a long list for SWG just to fix whats there now![]()
