What's in character for a smuggler? If you are known for ripping off people, will they come for you to do a slice or a job? Not likely. A smuggler, like bounty hunter, is dependent on his rep. One with a good rep, will get quality jobs and repeat customers, and able to charge more because he's known NOT to rip people off.

Remeber, it gives your name as the owner/seller.

If your character is a complete jerk, then yes, it's totally in character.

I know this is asked so many times, and I have had so many answers. I just don't want to waste my time. How does one get locked containers. I have heard:

1) Buy them at the Bazaar

2) Find them dropped from Imperial Storm Trooper

3) Kill goons, thugs, and swoops.

4) Don't forget to ask for Clamps and fans from master slicers or smugglers.

The problem is where do I find locked containers are any of these true. What advice can you give a new Smuggler in Corbantis on Correllia

All the above. I have had them drop off of any humen type npc I have killed. So just kill as many as you can. The main thing I have seen however is that they drop in the first 30 min of a camp, after that it trys up. Might just be a luck of the draw but I get them right away but after that, nothing.

The other locations to find them are:

1. People at cantina's - Probably the best source, it was for me.

2. Raid locations - I only got a few people but lots of people around so I am sure when they stop fighting you might be able to get a few people that need some opened. One of the Tusken Forts on Tatooine is a good place to look.

I had collected 6 containers on my own and in about 2 hours I got enough from other people to finish off the last 14 I needed. It only cost me 1 Shadowpaw per container and a bunch of roleplaying. Also, get a crate of clamps so you dont fail, that helped me out alot also. Expect to pay about 20k for a crate of 25 clamps, if not a crate they commonly go for 1k each clamp.

I am sure somone here will pipe up, if not go to the message board for your server. Also in game do a search and look for the profession smuggler. All else failing ask around.

Finding clamps are about as rare as locked containers for me hehe. So if any of you guys on Gorath wanna make some credits /tell Vili. Or better yet, send me a waypoint via mail to your vendor!

I anyone else finding it near impossible to get locked containers now? I'm finding that all the guys I kill out in the wilderness have nothing on them anymore other than a few creds and the occasional stone knife or whatever. I used to get locked containers all the time. Now I can barely find any. And because everyone now knows that we need them for our slicing xp, they are all trying to sell them for over 1k at least on my server. Its becoming annoying because the containers are so rare that i'm haveing to spend tons of cash to buy containers which i only have a 50/50 chance of opening. I was just wondering if they were going to increase the amount of loot dropped to hopefully increase the number of containers. If they are less rare then perhaps people won't always be trying to rip me off. Whatever happened to people paying you to open their locked containers. Perhaps if the containers ever had even the occasional good item in them people would actually pay us to do this again. So far smuggler has been nothing but a drain on my resourses. Apparently now all their decent pistol abilities have timers on them. I'm sure glad I've wasted a few weeks of playing time to get xp for a suddenly weakened professon. Oh well just thought I'd vent a bit.

In Summary:

more loot drops of locked containers and different items, better items in the containers so they will pay to have us open them, obviously everyone is bringing up the issues about the special moves.

I'm getting more than before coming to me for slicing. and I pulled a couple out myself. Got onr from a treasure chest. To me, this seems good... there's just too many darn smugglers.

We've got a boatload of smugglers as is. Gating one of the more useful lines right now is a pretty handy way to help keep the population controlled somewhat.

I went to Kor-Vella, Corellia, and I killed the Ragtag Kooks near the commando trainer and a little area near it, I got quite a few locked containers there. I'd suggest checking it out if you're in need of xp

One reason may be that players are holding all of their personal locked containers until they reach smuggler so that they may level more quickly. I know several who are doing this. This in turn, if devs only allow there to be so many locked containers at once, will lessen the chance of looting one. Just a thought...

Yes, Slicing I IS the most irritating skill I've had so far. What other skill not only gives you a 50-50 chance of gaining XPs from using it, but also makes you beg in the streets for opportunities to MAYBE gain that experience?
