You know, if this is REALLY EQ in space, then...

Melee are the Tanks (they take damage)

Ranged classes (pistol, rifle, carbine) are the archers (able to take some and deal some)

And BH/Commandos are the Wizards. (good damage, LOW defense)

Makes sense, and scary too.

Greetings to you all. I want to start off saying thank you for not shooting this post down instantly. From the discussion goign on I see a helpful group of people in this forum who seem to think very well. I now offer a proposal to you all, and ask for your help at the same time. As you can see from the above numbers, there is a disparity in existance between BH's and everybody else when it comes to defense (we're setting offensive pwoers aside, though we dont have much of that either). This is where I need help. My proposal is of this: Have a community effort come together to correct an apparant dis-balance, setting a precedent for community effort in solving problems, allowing it to happen again on other game issues. Is this BH defense a serious problem? Well...not really, but its as good as anything to start this on. What I am askign for is this: Post what ever defensive mods you think BH should get (i dont want to nerf anything, lets not take away from other classes) and why you think they should get them. All this information is goign to be gathered in a day or so, and compiled into one report for the devs. Any and all help is appreciated as long as it is given with a helping intent. Thank you and Good luck with all of you and I cant wait to read what you would have.

Ok, things dont seem tobe going well here. If you would like to contribute this post, I would appreciate it if you could focus on the point. If you want to smash BH's go the BH forum and have at it. If you want to be constructive, just post any changes you thing could be made and why. Some of you say no dont chage others say yes do. If you say no, then say so and why. If you say yes, say what you think could/should be added/changed and why. Thank you and good luck.

Time to steer this back on track. Charvacas go to the BH forum and ask how we do in PvP. You'll hear very well how it is from those who play MBH. Remember im talking about Masters here, not those who dable around. Now, in order to see this post be succesful this is what im after: If you feel that from looking at the defensive values above the MBH should not get any changes please post this and why. If you feel that from the numbers above that they should, please post any change you think could be made and why you feel that way. Thank you and good luck. With in 48 hours all info will be cumulated and crunched down into one report for the devs.

Heya,


I am quite suprized the original poster expects any sympathy from Carbineers.


BH has been and continues to be a good combat class, Carbineers have and still need dramatic fixes.


The pool of dev energy is only so big, I will not be advocating spending any of that energy on BH while Carbineer issues remain.


If your desire is to draw attention to combat balance, any balance done before fixing Carbineer issues would be nerfing BH, IMO.

Please keep in mind that I am NOT calling for a BH Nerf. I played one for a long time and I LOVED the class. I only gave it up because I went back to my original vision for my character. I had a real bad-ass LLC that did 900-1100 damage at speed 4.0. It was sweet. Now, I am a TKM, Master Brawler, 0/3/4/0 Doc (for buffing).


I went against a MBH the day before yesterday. I never made it to him before he dropped me from the Eyeshot Spam (I have 1k mind, 600 focus, 500 will). I ate a fishkak (+500 mind) a Bivoli Tempari (+380 Will) and a glased glueclose (+350 mind, +350 focus). Then I popped a Muon Gold (+500 to all mental stats). th BH STILL dropped me before I could close the range. I'm no PvP god, but I don't think I suck at it either. I don't think, from a TK point of view, that the BH needs any defenses against us. If we can touch them, they need to die. Ranged defenses on the other hand, may be a different story altogether.

As a master pistoleer I support my other profession of CH rather well, and throw in a modicum of Medic I am self sustaining, if you think that we should be as powerfull as a rifle man or a bounty hunter then your in for a big let down..... Pistoleer is a supporting role for other members of the group...while I can do crazy ammounts of damage with my specials I tell you without medic or my pets to assist me I'd be dead in a heartbeat when I solo.


So to say that we should as pistoleer be ranked up there with the elite combat professions is just a little far fetched.

I for one do not feel bad for BH's, at least they get mods...i am also a smuggler besides swordsman and they get no combat mods...none! Not even at master.


I'll admit that they are supposed to be a hybrid class, but nearly all of their skills require pistol xp and unarmed xp.


You'll get no sympathy from me, although it was really nice to see that we have the longest list of all the professions! Yay!

was taken on 1/5/04, the day i posted it, and what should i do, run around trying to swing my pike? plus none of these were headshots so why would a helmet help? if i ever wear armor my specials jump from 250 to 350+. if i HAD blocked it, it would still have been a one shot incap because block only reduces damage.

Spreading out the mods won't save MBHs from the wrath of dabblers. It will just piss off the dabblers. Their old template won't work, and they'll find something else, and up-and-coming BHs will find the profession more difficult than it already is (and yes, it is very difficult, at least the investigation line). What could be done is give melee and ranged defenses to the investigation line. That's where their mitigation is, right? Dabblers will never bother with the investigation line unless they're going for the new defense mods, and they'd be better off taking two elite profs than getting master marksman and master scout just to pick up that one line. I don't know how much, but it should be about equal to what Master Commandos get (right now +25, I'd like to see +40 or more) seeing as these are the two "most-elite" combat profs.

Geez, thats even more lethal than advanced strafe.


Okay I say we all go and demand if our specials are going to COST this much than we should do 1k damage in PvP too. Compared to this my piddling 300 point hit3 is worthless.
