Thread: ATTENTION ALL!!! COMBAT BALANCE DISPARITY!!!
Good lord, in pvp, having all those neat weapons and basically worthless specials (why are they worthless?) mean nothing when you CAN'T HIT YOUR OPPONENT!!!..
It's the same with players as it is with creatures, it makes no difference how much damage you can deal, what matters is how much damage you can take/avoid..
95% of wild pets wouldn't be worthless if they had originally set CL's based on a creatures ability to take damage, not give it.
A MP/MF/TKM isnt tough because they can do so much damage, BH's probably have 6 specials that do more damage then that templates best attack, that template is tough because they have such incredible defenses. Wild creatures aren't pathetic now because they do less damage, they are pathetic because they take less damage to kill...

Oh yea, and you forgot to add Commando in there with your bounty hunter for having "no resists", but I'm not complaining. Looks like hybrid professions are just strong enough to not need huge resist bonuses...
Not true, commandos get more than 30 of each at master.
No they don't, what are you smoking?
+22 Ranged
+9 Melee
+5 KD defense
+30 to each what at master?
Well I've never been a BH but I do say they certainly need a whee bit of buffing. For one I wouldn't be adverse to give BH's some kind of defenses. Something along the lines of +5 dodge/counterattack per level of pistol/carbine with maybe another +20-30 at master. Perhaps some additional ranged defence in the investigation tree. I could also see giving them a bit more accuracy at master to make up for the immense amount of skill points it takes to reach it. A BH could also use some worthwhile specials at master instead of lightning cone 2 and junk.
I unlike many people do not see BH as the end all be all of awesome right now. I see them as a class with some legitimate beefs. Problem is that too many people are stuck in "BH is da ooba profession I canst beet a BH" mode.

Was this a recent change? Can't get in game ATM and am using a character builder, are you sure? If you are sure, wehre? On the master box?

As I am stating to everyone, this post is posted with the intent of starting a precedent of a community effort on changing something.
I can respect your intent. I am just curious, though. Have your read Thunderheart's thread in the Development forum about the future of SWG combat? If you havven't, then you really should go take a peek.
In this thread he explains that ALL professions are about to be revisited. There are likely to be some major changes in the way combat is conducted. Although this makes many of us a bit nervous, it is a plan they intend to pursue anyhow.
Your Correspondent knows about this. In fact, your Correspondent (like all the rest of us) has been directed to collect some information about what kind of role we want our professions to have in the new system, and many other aspects. Then they are to bring that to the Devs so your ideas can be used as a backbone for the new changes in your profession. While posting things like this on every profession board might make the rest fot he community aware of your displeasure in your profession's weakness, it doesn't inform the people that make the final decisions.
Take this board for example. Look around at the color of the names. No red ones. Devs don't post here. That's is what Correspondents are for now. If a Correspondent is doing what they are supposed to, there is no need for a Dev to post onthe profession boards except for of friendly visits. Get this info to the BH Corr. (S)he is the one that can put this to good use.
Good luck on your results.

Until you list offenses next to defenses so we can compare the entire combat value of a profession, any focused charts are useless. One profession could be defense-heavy, another could be offense-heavy. That doesn't come across on a chart where you list your weaknesses rather than your strengths, and the way you did this is simply dishonest.
List the offense next to the defense and we'll get a clearer picture of who's really in bad shape.
Wow, a person who feels Defense is worth soemthing. I have had posted in several combat forums that defense doesnt matter vs your hitting ability. So Morganite, do you have any ideas on any changes that could be made to MBH? Im really curious if you do.
In responce to the last set of posts, PERHAPS my profesion is the way the devs intended it...but if it is...the crap what were they thinking even putting bounty hunter in? Rayph, I have read TH's comment about the combat rebalancing. The thing is...its going to be MONTHS before that happens, and i also wouldnt mind it if the changes prooposed in these posts be APART of those changes...in fact I would be so frigging jazzed if that was the case. It would feel like beta again
So, in light of your comments, despite your hesitant feelings due to the jedi and upcoming patches, do you have any ideas on changes to be made? I woulod really interested to hear them if you do. Good Luck to you all!!!
Im trying to not respond to non-constructive posts, but I will say that you have not gone to the BH boards if you feel that BH's think things are just fine. Go there and you will see probably one of the most dis-gruntled communities other than DE and Chef. Again, if anyone has advice to give, it would be wonderful to hear it!!!
This thread is pretty dumb... think about it. As of now BH's pretty much rule the battlefield with eyeshot. They can shut down pretty much anyone with eye shot, and they even have room left for novice medic so they can use Stim B's (which i also think should be fixed).
IF you add those bonuses for ranged and melee defense to BH's, the only thing you're doing is make the dominate easier.
Same thing goes for TKA... you give them good ranged defense and melee defense and you might as well call the TKA a god because YOU WON"T BE HITTING IT...
you CAN"T bring all the classes to balance JUST by making all their skill modifiers the same at master... that makes very little sense at all.

I will say this slowly so you understand:
Offense
Means
Nothing
When
You
Can't
Hit
The
Target.
And high accuracy and/or /aim can penetrate high Ranged and Melee Defenses.
That's why offensive skills matter just as much in this comparison.
