This is what i posted in another thread that happened to die off into the posts of time, but here you go:

Ok to start we will have to break down the good and the bad to player bounties and see who this will affect.

So lets look at each question followed by a possible answer. So lets start by giving an example of a possible player mission.

Example, A smuggler delivery mission. The Smuggler would search the mission boards and find one of the new high payout missions to carry sensitive material(this could be illeagle goods or very special documents for Darth Vader, just anything very important). At one point, the smuggler has 2 choices, he can take the loot and cancle the mission and get a bounty on there head, or delever the loot to the proper npc for the cash. But there could be another catch, If the smuggler is carring the goods and is searched by a storm trooper and is caught with the goods the bounty could be activated(it would depend on if the smuggler can defeat the st befor he can report the findings).

1. Most ppl dont want to be hunted, and the devs dont want something that would be considered a grief. So how do we keep it to ppl that are willing to take the chance?

Answer: Any mission that ppl want a big payout or nice item loot should go for these missions. By accepting one of there player hunted missions has to consent to a special pop up box to accept the mission. By accepting they are agreeing to be hunted if they fail/incomplete the mission.

2. We BH would like to hunt more of the player base with out the fear of being marked as a griefer.

Answer: We would be only hunting the ppl that agreed to accept the terms of the mission.

3. How will this effect the whole player base, and who should it really affect?

Answer: Anyone can take delivery missions from the tremanals, and if they want the danger they will have the choice of the terms of the mission.

4. The bounty missions we will take to hunt the bounty have to be in a reasonable time frame and worth the time and money.

Answer: The missions would have to be like the Jedi missions we can get. The mission that the mark takes has to fail or be incomplete befor the bounty will be placed on there head for us to take a mission. Once the markis incapped or killed, the bounty tef will be removed and the other outstanding bounties should be incomplete to cut down on the possible grief.

5. But what if aplayerand BH get together and exploit the bounties for money or loot?

Answer: Put a timer on BH to limit the amount of player based bounties he can have in a givin time.By having the timer it would slow down the problem to the point that they will not want to constanly want to hunt the same person over and over. The same can go for players that take the delivery mission.

6. When we get the loot to carry, how do we know its good loot or not?

Answer: Well this is where Smugglers come in. All loot will be in locked containers or special boxes. You will not know what is in the container unless you want to see a smuggler to open the container. The only way to open the container is to visit a smuggler to open it only after you deside to abort the mission and get the bounty mark on you. This will also cut down on exploiting. But having the container or box being opened befor chosing to abort the mission would be good on desiding if you want the bounty tef also(the desv can play with this part).

This is good start to player base bounties, and it would involve any profession that would chose to take the missions. Just dont make the delivery loot to good that everyone will want to always keep the loot. And dont make the missions to cheap that ppl dont want to take them.

The system of JEDI bounties isn't even working. Something that we were promised. Stop dreaming, let them fix the CURRENT screw-ups. THEN we can talk about more content.

"...we added more logging to log the logs that we were logging. With some luck, Jedi bounties will be fixed... unless the logging that's logging our logs isn't logging...."

What a crock.

BTW the # of player bounty threads doesn't annoy me if that's what it looked like I was thinking from the last post, it's just some people have excellent ideas, and should be heard out, but I don't think any Dev has read a single idea, out of the so many player bounty ideas.
Anyway, yes I do think that player bounties should be implemented. I'm not getting my hopes up, but I'll be looking forward to it if it's a possibility above 1/100000; but I'm sure there's a better chance of that than a BHG.

This would make BH REALLY FUN.

100k to put up a name. and only MBH can take them. This would add a new starwas'y aspect to the game. the only limit should be that a person can only post a bounty once per week

did 'Luke Groundstalker tef kill you in theed the other day? well get him back, put a bounty on his head.

I'm sure this would keep everyone on their toes, i know I'd love it if i was just hanging around and suddenly I get a tell "So and So wants you dead" the next thing i know i got an LLC Zappin me. I think it would be very Exciting! and add an aspect of PVP to for nutral players.

LLC suck for PVP.....good idea but you got to remember that lots of people have lots of money and I think it would get a little crazy....I think the bounty should be a min of 1 million to place......and even then there might be alot of griefing....but the devs already said its gonna be a long time down the road.............

I know bh's can hunt jedi but what's the fun in that? How about besides banning a person the csr could put a price on a guy's head for eitehr acting like an idiot for whatever. Also when the person is incaped the bounty hunter can loot at least one item from his/her invetory and all thecash he gots(not in bank). After the bh gets 1 item from his invetory and gets that cash he can db and he automaticly gets the money. This way soe can still get paidevery monthand the person will think twice before acting like an idiot or being a scammer.

yeah but what if theyre is some crazy guy just pointing bountys on people for no reason?... I think player bountys should be created by NPCs but carried out by players.. It could work like... Someone is assigned a mission by Jabba, but instead they abort the mission and work with someone else. Then automaticaly a bounty is put on that player. Once the bounty is created, it works as a mission in the BH Terminal. A BH will see the mission in the terminal, reads what the bountys for and who it is for, and accepts the bounty and goes after the guy.

I would LOVE to see people get bounties for cancelling out of missions. However, it won't ever happen for general missions because people who don't want to PVP would be pulled into PvP. However, it would be cool to have separate mission terminals with bigger mission payouts where when you accept a mission, you consent to the possibility of PvP. If you fail the missions (die before completing it) or cancel out of it, you get a bounty placed on you. The reward is higher mission payouts if you are successful and a bounty on your head as a penalty if you are not.

I was wondering if anyone if any developement is currently being done on player bounties and if so at what stage is it and if there any plans to introduce it in the near future?
Obviously it is a difficult task to add this to the game and to do it wright will take some time but I think it is an essential apsect to add to the game for many reasons. One of the reasons for example is that a few days ago on Dathomir a player of a lesser profession asked me if he could lend some money to get back to Corellia and said he would repay me as soon as he could. As of yet he has not repaid me and I am not at all bothered about loosing a few thousand credits but it's the principle of it, that people can break deals and get away with it. Players should be able to command respect in there deals by doing something about it when these deals are broken. And this brings me to my suggestion of how player bounties could be introduced into the game.

My suggestion is that when an agreement of a task or the borrowing of money between players is made a 'deal' can be forged. Then if one of the players brakes this deal the other player gets the option to post a bounty on that player. For example, a player A wants to borrow X credits from player B. As this transaction is made they agree that there is a re-payment time of say one week. If player A repays the credits within this time the deal is honoured and they carry on as normal. If the credits are not repayed within a week player B get the option to post a bounty on player A's head. A bounty hunter then takes up this mission and tracks player A down and they fight. If player A wins the bounty is taken off and no other bounty can be placed on player A untill he brakes another contract. If the bounty hunter kills player A a suitable pentaly for player A is required. This could be that a certian percentage of the players bank funds are looted, all cash on the player is looted and one or two random items from the player inventory are also looted.
Such a system would mean that people only bring marks upon themselves and stops anyone posting marks.

I have many more ideas and suggestions about player marks but do not have time to post them at the moment. But any thoughts and comments on the subject and my idea would be appreciated.

Actually it appears, from the smuggler revamp info by greenmarine, that player bounties will be placed by the computer. You get "visibility" by getting caught with illegal items or performing illegal acts (in the smuggler tree smuggling). After your visibility hits a certain level, a bounty is placed on your head

I thought I'd be glad I kept one char a BH. I hope it stays that way

I know, I know this has been discussed to death but I was thinking of a way to include them and not anger the community. At some public fairs they would have a jail where for about 5 bucks they would go and "arrest" someone you knew and hold them in a jail for 10 minutes. It was in jest and the money was for charity.

I was thinking of having player bounties be something like that. More of a friendly kind of treatment. The mark would not suffer item decay from death (to prevent griefing) only wounds if they must clone at a non-designated cloning facility and they would get an email after cloning that included a short message from the bounty poster. The bounty poster would have to go to a NPC capable of posting the bounty. They could inlude a short message (100 characters long, maybe more) and set the amount of the bounty up to 10,000 credits (maybe more). They could only make one posting until that bounty was taken and collected on. Granted some people do not like PvP period, but it would add another element of content of placing bounties on friends and have a good jest on them with the email message like afte they clone the message could be like "HA HA! Hey do you want to go to the ball game this weekend?". Granted the rich players could place bounty after bounty (as they are collected by a bounty hunter), but the amount of cash means even the noobs could "avenge" the embarrassment by doing some missions and placing a bounty right back on them. This could lead to a large amount of content for everyone as people post bounties and bounty hunters go to collect.

The idea was based on the county fair jail and on the ninja email that used to run where you could create a ninja and send him to assassinate friends and co-workers through email.

What do you think of this approach?

I've been following that thread for several days. Not sure why people care what someone choses to do with their own credits...and why people would scoff at someone adding content to a close to contentless game. I'd say what you are doing for the Intrepid community is great...adding excitment into a game many feel is so lack luster. Just my 2 cents.
