"It's all about the PLK you use, It takes the experimentation rate of your knife and subtracts 15 off of it and slice for damage if it is 50 or below. If the experimentation is above 50, it will subtract 65 and slice for speed. then it will use the remaining percentage and have a 5 point range of the slice, 2 below and 2 above. if the remaining percentage is below 14%, it will make the slice random, same with if it hits one of the 2 above 35%"

From the FAQ:
Does the quality of tools/weapons have any bearing on my slice%?
GreenMarine - June 14, 2004
This is a developer statement that tool quality does not matter on slicing equipment at this time.
GreenMarine wrote:
NikkiDial has it correct. The Master box improves slicing, but the tool quality and other things do not.

LOL!
If that were true, I'd have nothing but speed slices.
I always experiment on my tools (I make schematics and then a factory run) just for the fun of it. Interestingly, I've only ever gotten "great" results--no more, no less.

id be inclined to say what they are saying is bs, ive been ns hunting a few times recently, tkms are good at kicking there ass untill you come up agiast an elder as you say they are 100% res,
after a certian amount of time and dmg there res level drops so they might be able to do some decent dmg then, but realy i think they might have another profeesion as well as mtk, like master swordsman.
or they good just be trying to look good in front of their mates

I've gotten the same results from 99% tools and 7% tools. That's testing hundreds of pieces.

A TKM can kill a NS elder, at least with a little help. I'm pretty effective against them.
Of course, I'm a pistoleer with some really good pistols...

I think resist levels for NS Elders only drop when they have about 1k HAM left, so someone who is ONLY a Teras Kasi artist, doesn't have a chance. I believe that elders have around 60k HAM, but I'm not totally sure, that could be just Axcva (sp?)

Elders have upwards of 350k HAM and Axcva has over 400k I think.
Like people have been saying, seems more likely that the person used some complimentary combat skills to kill the Elder. He/she just happened to be TKM as well.
I know of a pikeman who soloed a NS Elder by using a DoT weapon till her resists started droping. Needless to say, it took a long long time.

Hello all again,
The other day before i mastered CH, i was considering dropping it for a melee profession to go with my rifle mastery (glad i didnt now! master CH i love) One of my guild mates told me not to drop CH as it will become more usefull in the future balance. He said that Doctor buffs and Armour was getting a nerf... So this possibly means we will become more viable tank's
Is this true?
Or is he speaking bollocks?

Durring the fanfest in the CH forum the dev stated that CH was already balanced and should not be getitng rebalanced in the upcoming combat balance. He also stated that CH will be where it should be after the combat rebalance... how that actually works out is something we will just have to wait and see.
