Thread: Bounty Hunter News from FanFest
LMAO, this is too funny. Everyone thinks it's all great to go hunting unsuspecing players, but as soon as their on the recieving end of the blaster fire they get all whinny. I think this is a great idea. Big deal, you get your salad tossed by a Master Defender. It's part of the risk of hunting, not just taking missions you know you can win.Master Defenders are by no means impossible to kill, I know because I've done it. It just takes some stratagy and the fight lasts longer. Not just run in and kill em before they know what hit them. As for being "forced" to hunt a knight solo as someone said earlier in the thread, nobody is forcing you to hunt anyone. Jedi's take a risk on what used to be a possibilty and is now a certianty of getting on the terms. But most of you cry when you get a chance to get hunted for sucking. So what? If you die, you die. You don't lose days worth of xp, you just clone, and get back to business. Quit bishing and welcome the new content and twist to the game if we get it.

They need to come out with Legendary Professions that can bring other combat professions inline with Jedi Knights. There have been plenty of Legendary combatants that could bring a Jedi Knight to a stand still without killing them in their sleep (or AFK). Its time to give some other professions "some love" enough time has been spent on jedi, time for other classes to get a help up.

the day i can solo a Master DEF is the day i will agree with one on one missions.
And would a BH getting onthe BH terminal be hunted by only BH or by jedi as well?
Agreed.
hate to tell you but MDef templates are not unstoppable. I have seen some nice dabbler templates take down Defenders solo. So dont give up yet because it is possible.
Lets not forget, once they fix the elemental damage, commando will be awesome...
as will sabers be improved so ...
*sticks out tounge ![]()
when did u ever think a bh could or should be able to solo a templar or higher.. if u think you should be able to ill just ask for some of whatever your smoking right now

Boy, did they open the wrong can of worms...
I've waded through all the bugs and exploits. I worked to find ways around the /logout bug. I devised a system to make the broken geocave spawn a lot less of a picnic for jedi who hid in there all day. I stood firm and held on to my ranged MBH template when it was the biggest joke of a PVP template there was, and I found ways to become lethal despite how gimped I was in PVP. I even stood by and defended the CURB and even talked a few of my friends into not quitting even when their cursor was literally on the "cancel" button. But this! This is just a huge clusterfook in the works.
"wishlist"? For whom? Certainly not the Bounty Hunters. Bounty Hunters being sent on lone hunts to take down master defenders? I've heard it can be done, but I have yet to see any indication that this is possible. What about Guardians or higher? How are they going to justify making a bounty hunter strong enough to take out a Templar or Consular? Or.... are they planning on making it so that once a jedi reaches a certain level he's immune from Bounty Hunter "nuissances"? Of course, the nuissances will keep coming anyway if we are unable to determine who/what level of mark we take. Well, they'll come for a while, anyway... If successive failed missions lands a hunter on the terminals and I am sent after a jedi I can't handle by myself a few times, it's only going to be a matter of time before I stop taking missions. It's only shooting myself in the foot. I imagine that a lot of hunters will feel the same way and soon there will be nothing but jedi left on the game. At this point, why not just start a different game and call it "Rise of the Jedi" or something? Every character could start as a padawan and work their way up to Master or whatever. In the meantime, let those of us who have no desire to become jedi remain non-jedi and still be able to have fun.
- Possibility of combat rating getting one on BH Terminals if the combat rating is so high.
- i love this ideal more ppl to kill
- Successive failed missions getting BHs on terminals.
- as a master BH since SWG launch this needed to be added whywouldn't failing missions not put us on the boards? wouldn't our employers start getting mad if we kept failing them.
- Eliminating Jedi names and bounty amounts from terminals while listing faction and online status.
- this is another great ideal no longer will bottom feeders pic on the low lvls and this will give the hunt much more BH feel not knowing who or what we are hunting.
- Making BH vs Jedi missions one on one somehow.
- this one i am 50/50 on cause granted yes it is possible to take a knight down given the rightmoment butthe ones on the boards are always ready with macroes to protect them selves.
- Adding Smuggler missions.
- again more content for us and targets to kill.
However, all of the above are more of a wish list at this time and are not on any schedule that has been revealed by devs.

BHs go after Jedi to make Jedi a hard class and to give the BH content. The BHs are SUPPOSED to prevent Jedi from amassing XP quickly, so that the profession is hard to advance in (although it's not hard to obtain or to keep, as the devs had promised.) As it is the alpha class, people shouldn't expect to master a full prof in a week, or even a month with Jedi.
Secondly, to address the other player bounties... one of the reasons BHs can go against Jedi is that they're so strong. Jedi are supposed to be able to take several normal combat professions at once. A smuggler though... well, last time I checked, a Smuggler has far fewer combat trees. Any BH with an additional combat profession WILL be able to take a Smuggler. It would be no contest.
The problem is this:
Your "content" as you put it is a person who is paying SOE good money to play a game. This person is able to reach padawan with absolutely ZERO PVP experience. This person is now forced to group to gain XP at a decent rate.
Pre-CU a padawan could grind solo effectively to stay off the terms. They can no longer do so. SOE has made them group for XP. Basically, when the CU went into effect, the devs never really thought through the effect it would have on the padawan community. They simply never looked at the fact that a padawan playing a couple of hours a night a few nights week in a solo capacity could takemultiple years to complete their profession! When I mentioned this to a dev at the fest, he at first didn't believe but when we did the math his jaw dropped.
What the devs did state was that pitting two players against each other in such a violent way is bad for the overall health of the game they see this and want to fix it. CL 80 BH's taking CL 36 padawan missions for whatever reason is bad for the game. So if the overall goal of a game is to have fun, what fun is there to be constantly griefed by other playerswho believe you exist solely for their amusement and content and believe their role isto punish the padawan and make his time spent playing the game miserable.
This acrimonius relationship simply has to end and ending this relationship means that both sides of the conflict will see changes made. As with any change, a few vocal people will cry foul; but most will take it in stride.
BTW, I do find it somewhat ironic that you are crying foul on being given the opportunity to take on CL65 and lower smuggler missions when the main problem that currently exists between BH/jedi is that fact that so many BH intentionally take on CL65 and lower padawan missions.
Im tellin' you guys: the game's going downhill and fast. I'm prolly gonna leave SWG in a month or so after 4 and a half years of watching it change/grow/shrink.
IMO the devs were creating a great and balanced game soon after launch. It was fun, exciting and new. It was buggy at places, but it still is today. After the Awesome mounts and cities/vehicles patches, the game has gotten worse with every patch- slowly. (JtL is an exception- can't mess up SWG with a seperate system) ![]()
JtL was a great idea for an expansion- it created new content, and a fun/cool playing style. JtL gave no advantages to buyers other than insta-travel. (been reduced to 1 minute anywho).
RotW was an expansion no one even asked for and it gave tons of unique bonuses to buyers- which is a big no no for an MMO expansion IMO. Now Jedi are getting numerous and remaining powerful as ever- thus creating an alpha-class in an MMO- another bad idea.
All these upcoming changes are making me worry about the future of the game. IMO the devs(or whoever comes up with or approves the ideas) have been short-changing the players for money. Of course it was all about money in the first place, but they at least tried to make a great game. Now, they are releasing 30-buck expansions that you must buy to have the cybernetics, the clone armor, the l337 weapons, the IMPROVED ships, etc. Also, don't forget the -now buy all 3 for 20 bucks and get a BARC speeder along with it! I'd probably die to someone with RotW in space. Not because he's more skilled, but because he can hold an extra laser/better capaciter/ or a faster engine- b/c he payed 30 bucks. If RotW was just kashyyk I might have bought it- I love quests. But since they put in high-end equipment in an expansion, I guess you could say I'm boycotting.
Instead of buying these 2 things, Im going to get me another game (preferably non-MMO). Im tired of all this bullcrap that's being shoveled through so hastely, w/o any explaining of reasoning. (they still havent said why they want DB to be a timed, interruptable move). It's been 2 years and 3 of the 4 good publishes were in the first few months. (Mounts, vehicles, cities).

These are great changes, they will reduce player griefing and allow us BH's that hunt for FUN (god forbid I don't do it to put a jedi in the hole) will get more of what we love out of the profession. For the rest of you that aren't happy until you have completely pissed off another player there is always combat medic...
can you honestly say that with this in your sig?
