That's expanded universe... if EU is your cup of tea, well, I respect that, but what I said specifically was that this was never shown in the movies... the vast majority of people who dig Star Wars came to like it because of the movies, not because of the EU. The raison d'etre for the EU is twofold, it exists partly for financial reasons and partly to please SW fans who wanted more than what was in the movies... but there have been many examples when something was portrayed a certain way in EU that was later contradicted in the movies... because it's Lucas' prerrogative to correct others on things that may have been inaccurate.
stricktly speaking, you're right, jedi weren't hunted by BH. But Luke Skywalker had a bounty on his head posted by the empire(I believe that's listed on the star wars databank)
Technically speaking though, Order 66 declared all jedi criminals and enemies of the Empire, therefore they would be hunted down and killed by people who have trained to do just that, bounty Hunters. Obi-wan talked in riddles to luke because he didn't want to get any anger going that might lead him down the dark path to the dark side. We can see that when Obi-Wan says Vader killed anikan. So there is no reason to believe obi-wan wasn't refering to Anikans murder of the jedi at the temple.
Yes, the movies don't directly say bounty hunters hunted jedi(although it is implied) but the movies in no way show that jedi were not hunted by bounty hunters.
And the EU is supported by lucasarts, and most star wars fans take the EU as real as long as it doesn't contradict the movies. Most of the EU fits into the movies quite well, there are only select parts that stand out as being non-conforming(the death star being created in the Maw Cluster compared to being designed on Geonosis being one of the obvious deviations) This is because the books were written first, and honestly, some times it is near impossible to tell it exactly like the books because that would have taken a whole lot more movies, either that or it wouldn't have made sense to anybody who doesnt' read the EU. Personally, i'd rather have the movies contradict the books once in a while rather then see a lot of people confused and unsure of what the movies are showing because some information was left out.
A good example of this is Lord of the Rings. There was a lot of stuff taken out of the movies that was in the books to shorten them. Tom Bambadil(SP?) for one because although his character was amazingly put together, it was something that could be removed/changed without the core story changing. Same with the death star plans and the rest.

You got a faction TEF for pissing off the wrong faction.
It's like punching a police officer in the face, and running away.
30 minutes later you run into the same police officer, and expect not to get your ass handed to you with a night stick.
What is it with you people comparing game mechanics in an MMORPG with real-life law enforcement actions? Are you really so disturbed that you can no longer tell the difference between real-life law enforcement and a *videogame*???? Do you honestly think that being a bounty hunter in an MMORPG puts you even remotely near a real life police officer or police investigator?
It's a videogame... it's *not*law enforcement... they are *different* things, mmkay?
Are you so dense that you think they would make a game revolving around a war that if you're on one side and attack the other that you would not be able to be attacked back?

There was a time before you had the choices of "on leave", "combatant" or "special forces"... it involved simply being "covert" or "overt", and you could get a faction TEF simply for running a PVE mission... yet have no idea that you were TEF'd. So yeah, that also constituted forced pvp.
WOW you're involved in a war! Does it ever occur to you that you might have to actually stand up and fight for the side you joined? If you dont want to then be neutral! You were never FORCED to pvp. You chose to go rebel. You chose to run faction missions, knowing they would give you the TEF. You exposed yourself to pvp. Like I said before, quit putting the blame on other people and blame yourself for your engagements.
Well, first of all, I have played as both rebel and imperial, and still do to this day. But secondly, and most importantly, there was no warning whatsoever that running PVE missions could result in PVP... it was never in the new player tutorial or anything that appeared as a system message... so in effect, it was forced pvp.
The people who abused these systems to engage in forced pvp with people who didn't want to pvp are the ones who should quit putting the blame on other people, and blame themselves for all forced pvp, player bounties, etc., etc., being removed from the game.

You had to attack NPC's, or heal somebody overt to get the TEF, which are all actions people made, and thus still made it not forced.
The only thing is that you didn't know you had a TEF till they gave the icon, but everybody knew attacking Bucketheads would give them a TEF, and would make them attackable. It was explained when you joined a faction.

I am neither dense nor ignorant... the system that is in place now is better than what it used to be, because you cannot engage in faction-related actions without being either combatant or special forces; furthermore, you can no longer accidentally heal someone without being aware that they are combatant or special forces.
You have the freedom every time you see a recruiter whether you want to be on leave or combatant (which don't involve pvp) or to be special forces (with involves pvp). And you get reminded by the NPC that special forces status means you are attackable by opposite faction players.
So yeah, it's better now, because the forced pvp aspect of it was removed, just like they are now removing the forced pvp that player bounties involved.

Many players were unaware, at least initially, about the fact that running PVE missions could get you "flagged" for PVP. It made it no more welcome just because it happened inadvertently. But it was still forced pvp.

Yes, when you went covert, the guy said attacking factioned NPC's Could result in the other faction attacking you.
That seems pretty obvious to me that that means running faction missions could get you attacked by the opposing faction. and seeing that you're already attacking the NPC's, it's obvious that they will attack back, which clearly states that the covert attacking NPC's statement was seperate from being attacked back by NPC's, it meant Players.
Ebris wrote:ITS AN EXAMPLE YOU DUMB BROAD!Tell you what...You can prove my theory why don't you walk your candy ass up to an imperial officer, and smack them...see what happens...better yet smack vader or the emporer.
Actually, attacking an NPC no longer results in being attackable by other players... maybe you didn't know that.

Actually there was a warning when you signed up for the faction if you talked to the recruiter thoroughly
No, there was never any such warning... heck, you could get TEF'd simply for doing one of the themeparks... none of the themeparks NPCs ever had such a warning.
