you people are some real idiots who says jedi was not a pvp prof...when you unlocked as in pre cu, you GOT AN EMAIL FROM SOE THAT SPECIFICALLY STATES....okay, for you low brow types..are you ready...okay..are you ready...JEDI IS A PVP PROFESSION IT WAS STATED IN THE HOLOMAIL YOU GOT WHEN YOU UNLOCKED IN PRECU....
now, do my little shchool bus children understand now? thats why people say that.
you got an email stating that it was a pvp prof. fools. you got an email stating it was a pvp prof
sorry guys, theres just some really stupid people on these boards that dont know jack about the jedi prof...
Incorrect. Only Pre-village Jedi got an email stating that Jedi was "full of dangers". Anyone who unlocked post-CU got ZERO indication in game or email, that it was a PvP profession. Perhaps sir, it is YOU who either need to step onto the bus or learn, FULLY, about our profession.
1. Did the e-mail say it was a pvp profession, or that it was subject to forced pvp? There is a difference between being a profession that can excel at pvp when and if it chooses, and being one which is basically forced to pvp. 2. As has been stated above, not all Jedi got the same gmail. 3. Regardless of what the devs said, or how they phrased their position regarding the Jedi profession, it still remained a forced pvp profession. That the possibility of forced pvp might have been mentioned in advance does not change the fact that it was forced pvp. Any time that you, as a player, do not get to pvp at the time, place, and under circumstances of your choosing, it is a form of forced pvp.
It pretty much said if you didnt stay out of sight you would be hunted by the empire and by bh. I'm not sure 100% what it said, but it said there would be consequenses of that sort if seen by the public eye, so yes it did say there would be pvp encounters.
Indeed, and these encounters, if they involved BH PC, constituted forced pvp. Just because you know that you can be hunted doesn't make each encounter anything other than forced pvp... the basic point, and the one that you keep on refusing to acknowledge, is that any type of game mechanic that involved pvp should have been consensual.
Why would you object so stridently to players being able to enjoy a video game for which they pay a monthly suscription fee with the game style that they preferred? Why was it so important, in your opinion, that everybody accept pvp as an integral part of enjoying certain aspects of the game content? Honestly, I really don't understand why pvp'ers wanted to impose their game style on others... there was always enough people to pvp with, and there was really no reason that pvp'ers themselves couldn't have policed themselves to make sure they did not inadvertently engage in pvp with players who didn't want it.
But, I suppose, to expect just a little bit of respect and courtesy for other players is, in your opinion, totally unreasonable.

Well, if one is thinking logically, when you get an e-mail saying that if you are seen in public performing your abilities that you will be hunted, that is your warning that if you continue to play this character there will be pvp. If you continue, you are consenting, logically speaking.Every time you log into your jedi account you were consenting, whether you want to admit it or not.
Forget for a minute about what the game mechanics allowed or did not allow. Step back for a minute from the "way it was" and tell me, what was a single good reason that it should have been that way? If there were a good reason for it having been that way, it wouldn't have been eliminated from the game, would it?
Forced PvP was a great idea missions on terminals were a great idea, then every BH on your server could take your mission and hound you out of the game and off our forums, lil kitten. You're still trying to be a Forum PvPer.
The reason for BH missions orginally being put in place was to make Jedi rare and hard to get and maintain, that has been watered down to the point we are just coming to where Jedi are a starter profession, and BH missions are removed.
Now we have a game that looks like this:-
Which one Pussycat?
Which Jedi clone are you?

I have the distinct impression that you are not trying to be "friendly, courteous and supportive", as per the forum guidelines. So stop trolling.

My exact words were in regards to keeping it civilized... I did not say you were being uncivilized. Slight difference, but an important one.

Forced non PvP on everyone? Hardly. If a Jedi wants PvP, they can declare SpecForce, and I'm sure they can find PvP quite easily. If they want to be hunted, just stay SpecForce and go about your business, someone will hunt you soon. If a bounty hunter wants to hunt Jedi, go SpecForce and go look for SpecForce Jedi. Simple.
Stupid. If you are SpecForce ANYBODY or EVERYBODY could attack.
The only thing removed is the ability to attack them when they are not prepared for PvP, and the little waypoint saying "target here!" and the payout if you happen to win. And, of course, the flawed system that probably generated more nerf calls, exploits, and developer headaches than everything else in the game combined.
Not prepared? Geez. I must have been lucky to find only full temp Jedi that didn't need doc or med buffs. I got my butt handed to me more than I dished it out. So unprepared? I don't think so. I used to complain that I was a CL80 MCM / MBH with Doc and food buffs and STILL couldn't knock a dent in some of these guys.
The only way player bounties should ever return is as a completely voluntary signup at the bounty hunter mission terminals for people that enjoy being hunted. No 'put on the terms for doing something profession related,' no 'players taking bounties on other players,' and no 'bounties for getting too much negative faction from NPCs.' It should work, everyone touts how much they enjoy being hunted, or how many Jedi they know that will miss being hunted. There should be plenty of signups for prey if it's so fun.
The Jedi that I really want to kill are not the ones "acting true to self". Meaning that Jedi were not running around in starports flashing their sabers. Jedi were known to be mysterious. Jedi were also known to be secretive and mostly in hiding for fear of BEING PERSUED BY A BOUNTY HUNTER. It makes me sick of people playing this game and whining about certain aspects of it that apparently haven't even seen the movies! I became a Bounty Hunter because I WANTED to hunt Jedi. I also NEVER met a Jedi that moaned because I had their mission. THEY EXPECTED IT. So it ticks me off with the majority of Jedi are in favor of keeping player bounties and the select few that don't want it know how to cry loud enough for others to hear. The makeup of a MMORPG is interaction whether that is positive or negative. If you want a game were you feel "safe", go play something you can predict. COMPUTER VS. THE HUMAN MIND
The movies never showed or mentioned bounty hunters hunting Jedi. As far as the movies go, you only ever got to see BH's taking or working on missions to capture/hunt/kill smugglers, pilots and politicians. They never took a mission on a Jedi, when the Emperor issued order 66, he turned to Darth Vader and his army... he had no need for bounty hunters, he had a sith lord and a galaxy-wide army at his disposal, for crying out loud.
You know you're on to something here. Let Jedi be reb faction only and all imperials can take potshots at them at all times

And what about players who choose the Jedi profession and decide to go Imperial?
