Thread: Regarding House-Jedi (Updated 10/14)
From a roleplaying perspective, yes it sucks how a feared intergalactic bounty hunter can be stopped by a simple locked door, but my reply is "Drop the mission and move on or go into stalker mode." Ultimately it would be nice if you could do the typical BH thing and bust down the door, but then again it would be nice if I could go to some far-off planet in the galaxy where no one would ever be able to find me a la Yoda. Instead, your droids never fail. If I've just been in a battle and I know "the law" is after me, I'd find some place to lay low, but no such place exists in SWG (well.... Kashyyyk does sorta, but even then you know I'm on that planet and many BHs want Kash opened up for hunting as well) where I can outsmart the droids or shoot them out of the sky. I can't mind-control the weaker-willed BHs into forgetting they saw me, I can't hole up in a den of fugitives where no Bounty Hunter would dare to tread. So ultimately, you shouldn't be able to break into our houses. RP sucks both ways, but for practicallity's sake, that's just the way it's going to have to be.
I suppose if a solution had to be implemented, what about being able to rig the Jedi's door? As in whentheJedigoes out, he/she trips a trap which could
a) Root or snare him/her (wire trap)
b) Damage him/her (bomb trap)
c) Inflict Blind/Dizzy (flashbang trap)
etc., etc.
They cried nerf for so long that now we dont get their name until we're there. Previously we could drop the mission becuase we knew "that damn jedi never leaves his gorram house". Now we cant. So which way do u want it? Ganking or Lockpick?
First a note on a couple of things that always makes me laugh in these posts.
"From a roleplaying perspective, yes it sucks how a feared intergalactic bounty hunter can be stopped by a simple locked door"
From a roleplaying perspectivie is sucks that a feared intergalatic bounty hunter can roam around the galaxy and not be attackable by anyone. Even though everyone knows he's a BH and could be after them. I always laugh when people bring up BH's kicking in doors to get teh Jedi, if it were realistic BH's would be attackable 24-7 since the profession they dabble in, is in the buisness of killing people... So BH's can kick in the door of Jedi, but they are perm Special Forces! Hey! From a role-playing perspective what kind of BH is gonna walk around carrying their weapons or letting anyone know they are a BH!?
Second of all, I think I become a little more "deede dee" when reading the Jedi and BH forums.
So since this is a suggestion thread my suggestions are (2 alternatives):
1. Drop the mission pick another target. Jedi are not BH's content, just as BH are not Jedi content. Jedi being attacked by BH's are results of their actions. To remedy these actions the DEV's decided that a) when a Jedi is killed by a BH they loose vis and b) By not getting vis for 3 weeks they loose so said vis. It's not a right for BH to be able to attack Jedi 24-7 regardless of where they are. The DEV's stated the fact by making it that Jedi can idle for 3 weeks and loose all their vis. It confuses me when I see theBH Cor state that how would you feel if 42% of your lairs or GCW bases aren't attackable. The BH/Jedi relationship isn't remotly near that. I think of it more as a looting situation. Looting and BH's marks are in its nature random, and both are rewards for playing and following certain game mechanics.
2. If dropping the mission suggestion is a little to harsh for some people. My second suggestion is, removing player character missions completely and forgetting they ever existed. Because honestly alot of people who play this game are too imature to have that privalidge.
So there are my suggestions. And I suggested so because in all honestly the system is perfect as is.

This way even the Jedi knows up front that he/she is ONLY delaying the inevitable!!!
As for the patience on our part...
I'll be satisfied knowing that the Jedi knows...
"YOU CANNOT ESCAPE ME....!!!"

A recent post was made regarding removing Jedi from their houses if a Bounty Hunter is after them. I replied and was mis-interpreted.
Just to clear the water, I think removing any player from a structurehe/she isalready in is a bad idea.
The same can be said regarding shooting through walls, allowing the hunter to enter the structure, not allowing a (un-tef'd) Jedi from entering a structure, etc.
Yes, finding Jedi unattackable due to houses is a big issue, but a "/pick lock" command isn't the way to fix it.
On the same note, I'd like to use this post as an opportunity to request possible solutions to this situation. I'd really like to hear some ideas from my fellow hunters becuase this is an issue that needs solved.
Please keep in mind that any form of removing a bounty from a structure is not an alternative I am willing to pursue.
Some ideas suggested so far:
a) Droids notify hunters if the bounty is static orinside a private structure. Waypoint would still update and bounty would remain for hunters willing to investigate
b) Remove bounties from the terminals if the mark remains static/inside for a certain amount of time. Should the Jedi move beyond that point, standing bounties are back on the terminals. Missions pre-existing in datapads could remain for the die-hard stalker crowd
Keep 'em coming guys and let's try to keep the atmosphere positive

Well if all the nerfs that keep coming you guys wont have many Jedi left fight they all will be hiding or quit the game.

how about give the jedi a reason to fight.. Jedi have lots of reason to run or hide. but say if the jedi wins the fight let it clear his visabilty for a few days or maybe some other incentive to fight that way both parties can have more fun...
I like this idea. It actually attacks the root of the problem, which is that Jedi don't have anythnig in particular to gain by standing to fight. Seems fair to me.
