The-Beast I disagree with you because in all of the documentation when you but this game it says everyone has an equal chance of becoming a Jedi, this would eliminate people from day one and their 14.99 a month can't get them Jedi while your 14.99 a month can.

Jedi shouldn't be based on how many hours you played the game then it would favor power gamers as usual and we know these people get bored quickly and leave anyway, to make it fair I think it should be done through quests.

BTW this is not going in with this publish the new system for questing is slated for publish #7, so we still have about a month or so of hologrinding.

Also no one is forced to holo grind you make a choice if you want Jedi you do what you have to do to get it, if you don't want to kill your avatars skills then don't do Jedi it's that simple. I hate when people say they were forced to do something when they had a choice and made the decision on their own.

With permadeath gone this game is going to turn into Jedi Wars anyway which will lead me to cancel my account and play Jedi Academy because it's a one time fee to do the same thing.

NOW MATHMUS you must be smoking at the wee hours of the morning here, basically award Jedi to friends of DEVS and suckups yeah that would be smart. You can't bring the human factor into it too many people with different motives of doing things. Imagine DEVS advertising on Ebay that they will give your character a Jedi slot for $1000.00 US, that would corrupt the heck out of this game. If you don't think that could happen you need to wake up.

I somewhat agree with you Battosai. We all pay 14.99 (more or less) and we should all be given the opportunity to become a jedi. One thing that The-Beast has a problem realizing is that this is a game and not real life. We all pay to play this game and therefore should be given the opportunity to be a jedi. I would not want that profession to be easy to get (which it isn't right now, to me at least) so that the game doesn't get overwhelmed with jedi. Also the statement about choices and people complaining is so very true. Everyone has a choice, and I've come accross many players in the game who aren't hologrinding or trying to become a jedi but just playing for the fun of it and doing whatever profession they feel like. The nice thing about this game is you can switch professions and do whatever, which makes the game more interesting and you don't get board so quickley. If there are lot's of jedi all of the sudden, then the bounty hunters in the game will just have to work a little harder to keep the population down. Even though there is no perma death, they still will have strong penalties when they die(such as losing skills!). This is still good imo. Personally I rarely see player jedi in the game currently. I know I will see an increase in the # but still I don't think it will be that high, and if it does get real high then so be it. There were lot's of jedi at one point in the Star Wars saga so why can't there be again? Either way, there should be no randomness to who is able to be force sensitive or not. If you have proven yourself worthy to walk the path of the jedi then you should become one. The bottom line is everyone should have the opportunity to become one if chosen.

Of course don't forget this is all opinion and everyone should agree with MY opinion because it's better than yours!

See but thats where the problem is.

Some of you folks think you're paying for the chance to become a Jedi. Thats all you're here for.

Theres a pretty big game out there beyond the Jedi part of it.

And they have to limit it. They have to. Jedi's should be a very powerful gambit in a PvP situation. And if everyones a Jedi...thats meaningless. Its a complete antithesis to the entire Star Wars Universe, even in an Old Republic or Expanded Universe version of it.

You're not paying your monthly fee for the right to be a Jedi. You're paying your monthly fee for the right to play at all.

And I'm not saying that ACCOUNTS should be tagged as force sensitive or not. What I'm saying is that CHARACTERS should be. So if you go through the dynamic quest as described, but you fail to become aware of the Force after it comes to its conclusion...you've got the choice to go on being yourself...or start another character and try again. Ergo a base number of active Jedi plus a small allowance monthly for new FS designated characters. So yes...the jedi population slowly grows..but its not a simple case of everyone getting hand walked through the same unchanging quest by their guild mates so each guild has 40 or 50 Jedi at its beck and call.

I don't think my idea is too realistic at all. I think its immersive and far truer to the lore of the Star Wars Universe....than just having a quest that'll be on Allakhazam's within a day of release and having a 10 to 1 ratio of jedi to non-jedi on every server.

Nope, master 5 random professions. You can use up to 4 holocrons (only one at a time) to tell you what 4 of them are and you have to just guess until you hit the 5th. There is no pattern or method to determine the 5th, it's completely random.

well, lets clarify:

You have to master 5 specific professions, not random ones. The trick, you wont know which specific profession you need! The selection of the 5 professions are randomly generated at character creation.

The holocrons will give you the hint of one of the specific professions. Untill that profession listed is mastered, any further holocrons will not give any other hints other than the first.

But, this may all be moot with the next publish (which I for one, applaud...)

The game was being ruined by people "being forced (lol)" into "grinding" professions.

As I hear, the new system will be more quest orientated. More to follow...

First of thanks to the great work of our jedi correspondent he is doing a great job. Now a few questions i have im at 4 1 1 1 atm close to one of the 2nd boxes which one should i get first at jedi initiate is force knockdown any good .... as well as skill attachements against knockdown what would i need to block the carbine knockdown of a bh i think its just a bit lame that i can block the damage but not the effect ... will that be fixed ? and the issue about crystals .... i dont get any crystals anymore and im not gonna spend millions on crystals like its happening on other servers ... -sigh- and the terrain negotiation well im getting skill attachements for that but it doesnt really help ... im still not happy with having to fear every BH cuz of knockdown. i would go fine with permadeath like this ... you die 3 times a month and you loose every skill of the actual jedi prof you're in ... but lets see you died 2 times and you make it alive over the month you regain 1 of your jedi lifes .... but in exchange the BH should get a penalty loose the investigation tree for failing on killing a jedi that just would be fair i was a master BH before and i know how long i took for the investagation tree ... and its a pain to level a jedi ... i hope the devs make some changes soon im not whining but i just would like to get some defense as a jedi .... btw does anyone know when they will patch ?

they shouldnt do anything limiting the numbers of players who can open the force sensitive slot, that being said because i want to play around with the jedi. (who knows if i will really want to play it long term or not)

now that i said that dont freak, they should make it difficult to play the jedi as they really are hunter and oppressed to the max. it should be hard to climb the jedi tree and the loss of skill is a good start. some other changes to make people think hard about playing a jedi once open is needed.

dont go around criticizing others because they want to play a jedi.

the devs could of gotten all this out of the system by allowing a jedi profession in the beta tests and letting us play with it to see if we really wanted to pursue it full time. but they kept it all to themselves one must wonder why they did that. maybe because playing with lightsabres is fun.

Guys,

I agree with TheBeast on limiting the numbers of jedi. The box says you have equal chance, it doesn't mean everyone WILL become one. Just think about the lottery, you have equal chance there too. And those who play this game to become jedi, well, I don't understand those people. There are a ton of single player games out there that you can buy and become a jedi in them... The whole Kyle Katarn series, the KOTOR game, etc. Don't think for ONE SECOND everyone will be allowed a jedi slot as this game is set after the destruction of the first Death Star and you did not see a jedi at every corner in the movies either.

Im new to the game (1 month) and yeah I would love to be jedi, but Im not going to grind for it, as for making some characters jedi and some not I have to say your missing a screw.

The jedi system will change and change for one reason,
This will be to keep as many people happy as possible, the reason for this is not to keep you moaners happy but to keep old and create new accounts.

If you really feel and think that they will limit Jedi then Your living in dream world IMO Jedi system will change and change for one reason, Whatever Makes the company the most Money!!

They can change the process of becoming Force Sensitive all they want. Unless they make the process of actually leveling the Jedi professions many people will eventually quit.

I have just started my FS character and already it has changed my outlook on the Jedi in the game as it stands now. I will by no means quit but I will never grind it out like I did a few of the professions I did to get here. Just to complete 3 of the 4 skill trees in the Padawan professionyou need 4,920,000 Jedi XP. Jedi Xp is the same as Combat XP or 10% of weapons XP. Thats 49,200,000 Onehanded Saber XP just to get to the master box. Then you need an additional 1,500,000 Jedi XP instead of apprenticepoints to complete the master box, and this is just to become a Padawan. You still have 2 more profession tree's with alot more XP to get to Jedi Master.

Currently the only way to safely earn XP is killing anything and everything on isolated planets for hours on end. Even if they added quest's within the Jedi progression they would most likely be completed fairly quickly and leave players back to killing random stuff isolated from the rest of the population.

The new perma-death changes may help a little as players will be able to participate more in other parts of the game without fear of loosing their character to the 3 death rule. These new changes will not however change how fast a player will level the professions. If a player grinds fast and hard on tough creatures they risk more death and having to take a break so they can gain back a death or 2 otherwise they risk losing skill box's and thats alot of xp to lose.

You may see more people make Initiate but you will not see near as many go all the way to Jedi Master.

Evanight,

To be honest, if someone is living in a dream-world then it must be you. Sony bought a license for an online game from Lucas, meaning they have someone else decide what they put into the game, and what not. And since we ALL know jedi were not commonin the movies, I just don't see too many jedi happening ingame either. You'll just have to live with the thought of only having a selected few becoming jedi.

First Off this is not a personal attack at you or anyone so please don’t take it as so, it is only my opinion.

It does not matter that Sony bought the licence from Lucas, at the end of the day I am stating that in no way will they make changes that they feel would close accounts, the full stop is there running a business, and running it to make money.

Again this is only my opinion

I think that every one plays SWG to experience the SW universe in one way or another. The chance to be any character wheter it be jedi, or Doctor, or smuggler, or Comando should be the same for every one.

The system that needss to be fixed is the way one progresses as a jedi. Jedi are all unique individuals in as much as a character picking smuggler/medic/comando might be. Jedis should have diferent skills to progress in not a set tree. Such as Mind powers, healing powers, precognition powers, athletic powers, combat skills, well you get the picture. Theres diferent saber styles. Twin bladed, polearm sabers, weilding two single sabers, and so on. There should be a way that a "jedi" pick diferent skills and progress on those skills. Such as you might want to develop some dark force powers such as life drain or force lighting, but by doing so you eliminate the abiliity to do light force powers such as healing and such. Make it unique! that way if there are many jedi running around then they will all have different skills in that profession.

Opening the force sensitive slot should only be ginven to those characters who have begun their holo quests. New gamers should only be allowed one character at a time, this way all the holo grinders will be rewarded for their hard work. Just my thoughts.............

I have decided to rerollmy Jedi and start over, but I have two deaths to give away before I do. So I have decided to write a bunch of macros for what I want to say and how I want to act, and I am planning a Raid on Theed on my server! I hope this will be fun and rewarding for all involved! I will not be wearing armor, instead I will don the traditional Jedi attire. I will be fighting with full buffs including mind, and I have conrtacted a Combat medic, doc, CH, and various other Rebel friends to help me stay alive as long as possible!

I plan to go out with a bang, instead of to some stupid mob on Endor! This was really my starter Jedi anyway and I never exxpected to live this long!

The reason I am telling you this is because I am trying to spark an ounce of hope in the Jedi community to come out of your closet and begin to take back the galaxy from the imperials! With permadeath going away soon, I want to encourage more Jedi to make their presence known ontheir respective servers and Send a Message!

WE WILL NOT GO QUIETLY INTO THE NIGHT! WE WILL NOT GIVE UP WITHOUT A FIGHT!

If you're a Padawan and have little skill to lose anyway...I beg you all! send a message to your server! Come out of hiding and get a group to support you! Got to the local hotspot on your server and Send OUR message! We are here to stay! We are going to play! We will not hide this day!

Saturday Afternoon at around 4PM PST My battle will commence on my server! January 31st...I declare...JEDI Independance day!

NOW WHO IS WITH ME!
