Thread: Combat Droids

uhm, Squad Leader, where the hell do droids fall under Squad Leader...? Even combat ones...
What, never heard of a squad of Droids?
Like a fortification kit is part of Squad Leader? That's more like combat engineer....

Really? To dig a fox hole you have to call in a band of engineers? I guess soldiers can handle complex machinery, but they can't use a shovel...
The origional idea in this thread is wrong and right at the same time. We have beaten to death the "SL's should controle NPCs" Idea, and if we need to discuss it more, we can talk about it in that thread. But the idea of controling non-combat droids is not a bad one. Scout droid, perhaps?

Last time I checked the fortification kit proposed was something that had to be built by an architect.. wouldn't call that a foxhole.. riflemen already have that, it's called /cover...
My point was many things can be given to us. If giving orders is part of our job, we should be able to give orders to NPC Faction "Pets" and Battle Droids, that is part of our job, giving orders. Now if you want to say the job of a Squad Leader is to build fortified positions, well that's fine too... Just don't forget our job is to lead others and give orders, if some don't happen to be actual PC's that shouldn't be a problem.

Any other pet handlers out there who don't like Real People in their squad? Theres a profession for you, we call it CH.
Now who said anything about not wanting real people in their squad? You want to build a building? Become an architect. Want to build an advanced camp that keeps things away, become a ranger. Want to add some more fighting power to the group by giving orders, become a chef... no wait I mean squad leader. If you don't like having pets in your groups keep them out, that's your choice. For others, having a few extra NPC characters to order around in addition to other players would be useful. Not everyone can find a large group to play with. Anything that can help our profession become more useful to others will always be appreciated. So instead of having that faction soldier or battle droid aimlessly shooting away, give us the ability to direct it. Isn't that giving orders? Last I checked, faction soldiers weren't creatures...
