Star Wars is ABOUT Jedi. Besides, if Jedi are nerfed to satisfy your hatred of them, there will be no Jedi. What will BH's Hunt? That buts them out of a Job, and out of PVP Bounty's. With No more Jedi Bounties, there will be less BH's, since they'd have no realistic purpose in the game besides the GCW and hunting little NPC bounties. There goes two professions out of the game. After you succesfully rid the Galaxy of both Jedi and BH's, who would you like to get rid of next?
there will still be plenty of BHs because BH weapon training is akin to "special ops" training, and it still benefits a lot of combat templates.
you're view of star wars is hopelessly narrow, and jedi centric.

And yet completely correct. no jedi, no star wars. It is that simple.

Thats because Star Wars is Jedi-centric.
Duh !
Wayy incorrect, I remember Star Wars In this timeline Supposely where the Rebellion ( people who left the ''New Empire to establish their own government'') To fight the Tyranny Of The Galactic Empire..and i remember Soldiers Vs soldiers there in the GCW, Not Thousands of jedi fighting jedi because they have been exterminated by Vader And the new empire.
So please get your head out the gutter and clone wars timeline.

and why are we fighting the war? not over politics, but over the ballance & control of the force. the civil war is just a diversion from the real issue (as often happens in real life). the entire war was for the emperor to wipe most of the jedi away. all jedi are enemies, except me, my buddy in the dark suit with ahsma, and all these fs hands i designatge....
just like the old dev post, keep jedi rare, except for mine. the emperor was a wookie grinder too

Wrong. Star Wars in this timeline = Jedi hunted to near extinction. No Jedi are running about in squads dueling in front of starports. There's so much MORE to Star Wars than Jedi that you could delete Jedi from this game and actually have a BETTER "post-ANH" Star Wars feel to the game.
A better way to handle those squads is to set up a zone around static cities, similar to the no-build zone. If a Jedi pops out a saber or uses Force abilities within that zone, a timer kicks on, and within about a minute a team of CL 180 Imperial Jedi Hunters (or perhaps Vader himself with a squad of amped-up Darktroopers) lands in a shuttle & toasts the glowstick abuser. Forcerun skills are damped during the event, so the Jedi can't run from the consequences of their foolish actions. BAM! Dead Jedi, a hefty chunk of XP lost with maybe a skill box or 2, and the streets are a bit cleaner. The NPCs then hang around for a while (random persistence timer) watching for the Jedi to clone & come back to the area. If they're foolish enough to do so... repeat the process. That way we're spared the sight of multiple glowsticks perpetually swinging around outside major starports, and the Jedi are back in hiding where they should be.
QFE
Thats exactly what should happen.I'm sorry but the bands of glow stick kids need to get the hell out of the starports. Its a total immersion breaker when those morons are alll there.

what's so hard about being jedi? they just have to get into some water and they are safe. now that missions will be anonymous i stand by the idea of deleting the bounty hunter profession. there is entirely no point to it. if you think that is griefing then explain jedi knight system to me?

This is getting pretty damn sad...
SOE keeps saying they want Jedi to be rare. I was reading old posts the other day and saw Q-3P0's about Jedi, and how they are suppose to be very very rare, and live a VERY hard life in SWG. Now adays they live a life of ease on Kash grinding all day long. If we can't hunt them there.... then I agree with who ever said turn off Jedi XP on Kash. If you want to train a Jedi, I wish you the best of luck... but you should have to live a hard life, not have a cake walk.
well here it is since you brought it up...
"We'll we're really keeping Jedi, the Jedi System, under wraps right now because we want Jedi to be rare and mysterious in the game. We want it to feel like it does in the movies where Jedi are kind of a rare breed. We will say that really the core of it is becoming Force Sensitive. Once you become Force Sensitive your progression through the Jedi ranks is pretty straight forward and follows a lot of the rules we've established already for some of our other skill systems. But the Force Sensitivity aspect is the thing that we're not really talking about. We do have a system in place, it takes into account a wide range of variables, it's different for every player, and no player is excluded from it, so you can't make a wrong choice when you're making up your character that will keep you from becoming a Jedi. That's not the way it works. Everybody has an equal opportunity."
Haden, XGR Interview
Your Jedi character lives in a world of constant danger, and when a Jedi dies, he's permanently dead (your other characters will respawn at a cloning facility). Jedi are also targets for NPCs and potentially other players. This will make surviving as a Jedi long enough to advance to Jedi Knight or Jedi Master status very difficult."
Haden, IGN Interview
"They will be very hard to become, and very very very rare. And we will continue to adjust the system to keep it that way. (I know, here I go tantalizing ya withuot any concrete details again... )"
Raph, Dec 2000
"Is the game going to exercise a degree of control over whether you become a Jedi? Absolutely. After all, it also exercises a degree of control over whether you become anything else in the game. Will those who wish to become Jedi be able to work towards it? Yes. Will they for sure make it? No, it is not guaranteed. But the opportunity is always there should they decide to travel that rough road. We intend to keep Jedi rare, and we will tweak the system on an ongoing basis to ensure that they stay that way (again, something we have stated before). Yes, it is our *opinion* that Jedi will be very very very rare, but we're also planning on working until they ARE because otherwise we would not be faithful to Star Wars. (And yes, we believe we can make it fun to boot). BTW, being a Jedi or Force sensitive in the time period the game is set in ain't no picnic."
Raph, April 2001"
never forget
Oh, you bring up quotes from people that ran out and left SWG hanging in the hands of completely different producers. Brilliant! Idiot.
So funny no one mentions that it takes less than 1 day to get MBH now from an ID macro. Respec FTW!

Until the Producers decide otherwise, Kashyyyk stays how it is.
All your changes are completely useless if this stays as it is. Bounty hunting will be way less fun since EVERY jedi will hunt on Kashyyyk because nothing can happen there. Having to try ten different marks until finding one that is not on Kashyyyk isnothing butannoying.
In the Ryatt Trail jedi grind their profession AFK, now nobody will be able to stop them now.
Since there is no risk at all involved in being a jedi anymore and jedi can be grindedEASIER than BH (Jedi is grindable 100% AFK, BH isn't because of the investigation tree) there is absolutely no justification for making jedi stronger than other professions.
That being said, jedi'sstrengthneeds to be tuned down to the level of every other profession.
Yes, you MBH have it so hard. ID macro for 4 hours AFK and Respec FTW! Damn that was tiring, eh?
Now any city I go to I hear lightsabers. Any time a group tries something difficult they ask for Jedi to tank.
Jedi are ruining the game for everyone else, and for themselves.

Are the producers aware of what exactly is happening on Kashyyyk as a direct result of this "design decision" and how it doesn't even slightly resemble a "themepark/quest planet" anymore?
Message Edited by riotcontrol on 07-17-2005 03:04 AM
Not wanting to sound too up myself here, but I love Kashyyyk, it's more of a themepark than any other place in the galaxy - especially for BH's.
Please tell me you aren't one of these lazy respec BH griefers who won't touch a 226 and doesn't want to actually work to find your mark - it's those people that get the BH's a bad name.
IMO, there is more risk to Jedi grinding on Kashyyyk than anywhere else, they're all in groups together and easy to find, you just have to have the skill to get to them.
I still don't know what the heck these people are talking about. We wanted to stir up the rebels last night so we stationed one player in each instance and started calling off names of rebel jedi which the BH's then took and executed. Seemed like a shooting gallery to me, rebels dying everywhere.

I couldn't have said it better myself.
