Thread: NPC Boss Marks Post-Pub 24 (Updated)
I was in Beta, which was helpful as I got to test the system from the bottom up on the NPC AI.
I worked my way up from cl 1 to cl 80 in 5-10 level jumps, testing the New AI.
By the time I approached BH I was seeing this sort of activity in all the NPC's. Except that the NPC's in the GCW (Rebel, Imperial) seemed to follow a diffrent model. (One that worked.)
Upon reaching Level 80 MBH/MCarb/Novie Doc, the problems were real appearent. 'Every' single mission I pulled was elite, either silver, single gold or double gold.
At the time there was a dual cost for healing (suposedly that has not made it live) So the missions were even more difficult. I ended up having to using Faction Pets, (Dark Troopers, Commandos etc.) to take down my marks, or atleast to act as 'My Tank'. Needless to say I tried to make it abunatly clear that the system had problems. Infact I had a thread that specifically pointed out that solo play was seriously gimped.
Unfortuantely when the beta board went away, so did all that information.
During the Beta, I sacraficed several Dark Troopers to keep myself intact long enough to even take the gold marks down to 1/2 thier health (After which I had no action, followed by no health and died.Even then it was a real fight just to kill the silver cheveron marks. (I typically only had about an 1/8 of an inch om my health bar left on those missions.)
Now it's live and the same problem (sans the dual cost for healing,) remains.
It is also evident that in Beta, thatsolo play in general is being pushed out of the game.
Unfortuantely since our profession is largely solo play based, we got the full force of the NERF bat.
I tried to tell them in the beta forms, they didn't listen.
All hail marketing. Mutch-to-Far 'sells' on Nov 1, 2005... the Same day as the SW3 DVD...
I'll prolly buy it for the house, LOL, but not so much for the content.... If that tells you anything.
But I am not preordering it.
Laters.

Its nothing more then a miscalculation of Regen rates on their part, this will be fixed as soon as our Correspondent gets enough info to show the Devs they screwed up.
My template: MBH/MCM/novice carbs
7100 Energy Battle Armor
Food: Vasarian Brandy, Pica Thundercloud, Crispic, Air Cake & Booster Blue
Probot droid with 110 med rating and combat module.
I use a SAC capped Elite carbine with SAC pups, 420-1050 damage, 2.1 speed, +17 accuracy (+11 with the pup).
I have +25 in carbine speed tapes for a total of +95 speed (+40 from general ranged speed), +20 carbine accuracy and +15 general ranged accuracy for a total of +185 accuracy. Added to this I have +25 ranged defence and +19 carbine defence for +244 ranged defence, with the thundercloud this totals about 330 ranged defence, duelist stance raises this to about 580.
Started off with paralyze, thyroid rupture and shock before starting my Duelist Stance macro. KD'd my mark & applied all my DOTs (didn't use enhancers). The DOTs worked well in negating their regen rates, though if I missed a couple of shots, healed or was forced to wait on my stance macro I could see my mark's health regening pretty fast. My droid's weak, but constant, fire was hitting for about 85 damage every couple of seconds.
The fights weren't exactly easy since I was taking between 500-700 damage after armor every few seconds but it was nothing my healing couldn't keep up with.
My only complaint would be over the quality of the loot from these marks. It took me about an hour to find and fight these marks for 93,000 credits, a color crystal, an illegal core booster and a jar of bugs.
You know, another thing just hit me about all these super-boss marks doing armor break and not being slowed by snare...
Everybody that doesn't already have armor break slices are going to need them, and even the ones that do are going to need new suits of armor often as these marks really chew through the armor if it's not ADK'ed.
With the shock absorbent paddings as rare as they are now, there simple are not enough of them to go around. Shock absorbent paddings NEED to start dropping from MBH marks. Not only those, but the trandoshan infraframes and powered motivators need to start dropping more often.
Speaking as a smuggler, those three parts are rare, and as supplies of converted peices deplete they only get more expensive. It's getting to the point that getting the shock padidngs costs more than getting a fully laired suit of armor. It's to the point that I no longer slice for armor break unless somebody has the paddings for me to use, because I don't use my last 29 shock paddings no matter how much money they offer.
Gold Chevron Boss Mark.
High Cap Scatter, dmg and sac capped with a 33% speed pup. clothes make me acc and speed capped
Foods- pikatta, wafers, thundercloud, crispic, booster, spiced tea
Full doc buffs
Tried the same mark twice and incapped around 1/3 to 1/2 health on the mark. Finally got a squad leader to come out (he wanted to test the new SL buffs) and it seemed that the cooldown speed buff did the trick.
IMO, the sivler chevron marks are hitting like the old golds did, and the golds are hitting/using AI about twice as effectivley as they used ot. Along with crazy regen.

5 missions yesterday. They were more fun. Do not nerf them please. I had a good fight with a level 82 gold chevron but at no point did I think I was going to lose. But the roots and other moves were great. He actually tried to root me and come in with his sword! But I got him and got some nice loot. Please do not nerf them I like not being able to play the game blindfolded.
Yes you need healing but that's just a fact abotu this game.

My template is Master Bounty Hunter/Master Carbineer/Pistols x/x/x/3 and some fs accuracy and speed. My questions is this, why are bh being forced to take a line in cm in order to survive? Now with NPC bh marks this tough you have to be able to heal yourself faster then stims will do or you die. As a master bounty hunter combined with any other master (pistol, carbine, rifles, even melee) we should be strong enough to win once in a while. I'm all for making the AI stronger as I do not want my mark to lay down and roll over for me, but damn I should not have to have cm in order to stay in the fight with him for longer than a few seconds. They are forcing BH to add cm in some way or the profession is worthless. You may see this as crying or whatever, but I do not believe that I should HAVE to take a line in combat medic in order to survive as a BH! Hybrid professions should be able to win a battle one on one without having CM in thier template. Otherwise it doesn't seem like a hybrid profession!

The CU was supposed to eliminate FOTM / "required" templates.
I fought 2 marks neither was a boss but one was a level 82 white chevron.
My current template is master bh, master commando. I was using amaster levelflame thrower, proton rifle and an damage capped scatter.
I have assault armor that's 6700 Kinetic, 4700 Electric, 5700 the rest with a very nice PSG that's 2450 to make up for the fact I have to wear assault. I was using bliel and stim Ds for healing and various foods. I will discuss some food changes I made later on here.
The first one I fought was scary, it took me over an hour to figure out how to kill this guy. This is the level 82 white chevron. He was running faster than FR3 and was healing way too fast. He was using rifle and polearm weapon.
My first issue was the damage I was doing. Even with critical shot, I was hitting him for less than the minimum damage on my guns. I was hitting him forunder 300 and my flame throwers minimum damage is 470.
My second issue was his healing. It was very fast. Not as fast as I expect the golds are but still way to fast.
My biggest problem was the speed at which he ran. Now I have very good terrain negotiation and I still had to use burst run to keep out of ran of his vibro lance. He was blindly fast.
I found that I was filling up with bliel too quickly to kill him. I would get him down to about 1/4 of his health (which was 16000+) and I would need to take a break to let my stomach empty. I eventually went and bought some pixie and health food and I was finally able to out last him but just barely.
Before the patch a mark of this level, I would have dropped in like 5 minutes tops without problem.
The second mark I fought was a level 80 white chevron with a health of about 17500. He was a carbineer. Now I realized that I need to limit the amount of damage I was taking so I went out and bought some AirCake. I fought him and he did very little damage to me and I quickly dispatched him.
So yes there is a 2 cl difference between these too but difference fighting them was way more than that. One was too easy and the other was way too hard.
Logged in last night - took a misson in Kadaara and got a boss mark in Dearic. 35k Ham. I already had my doc buffs so i loaded myself with food and drink -Thundercloud, Crispic, Exo-protein, Spice Tea, Blob candy and Kanali wafers. I am a Trando so i put my regen on. Duelist stance, Aim, Knockdown (missed) stopping shot (didn't stick) run run heal
Hit by a stopping shot , he closes pulls out a pike and i am armour broke, knocked down and dead (partly my fault my grinding helmet was destroyed a couple of days ago and i won't wear my 8k resist one until i get it adk'd) The last hit was some kind of melee head hit and did nearly1200 damage!!!
When i come back with a friend he was being attacked by 2 other players apparantly he had aggroed on them as they were passing. Between us we finished him off - of course one of them being melee they looted him and quickly left the scene ![]()
Oh well always next time ![]()
