Thread: NPC Boss Marks Post-Pub 24 (Updated)
I'm Master BH, Master Rifleman, 3000 CM using a Heavy Lighning Rifle
stats are..
Damage: 475-1144(+40)
Speed: 2.37
SAC: 65 (puped)
Here are some facts about the encounter..
First shot: 18:56:32
Mark died at 19:10:31
The fight lasted 14 minutes!
The Power-up on my weapon went from 480 uses left to 246 uses.. meaning I shot over 230 times at the mark! When assuming an average Damage of 500 per shot which is rather conservative I think (ranged shot ~420, advanced head shot & advanced crit shot ~750) I had to deal over 110k damage to the mark! I effectively had to kill the mark trice.
I was hit for anywhere between 400 and 1200 (crit shot while KDed) before armour wich made it a constant race wheater my mind runs out before I kill the mark. I used 7k Ubese armour - wich cut the damage in half and lost about 3k condition in the process. Lots of food and spice. Didn't use Doc buffs or a PSG, but that wouldn't have shortened the fight by much.
It might be more of a challenge now to kill the Boss mobs, but it certainly isn't more fun. 14 god-damn minutes! Healing is out of control in your game and you fix it - or try to anyway - by giving the creatures/NPC silly regeneration rates.. good going.
Man these devs keep screwing this game up. So far today I've fought a few things to check out the new npc ai.
First took a bh npc mission. Got an Elite with 20k Ham and CL 82. I killed him after 15 minutes of a fight. He switched to pikeman immediately, burstran at me and armorbroke me. Then immediately switched to an e11 mk2 carb, charge shot kd, then advanced crit me with armorbreak. LOL. I survived by healing but was severely drained at the end of the fight and got..... a freaking delicate trigger assembly and credits. WOOOHOOOO!
Then I went to dantooine to check out the darkside mobs that were formerly CL 111. Guess what, no longer CL 111 but are CL 83. Checked the HAM, no longer are they 8k to 10k they're now 7200 ham. Ok. Three shot them. CL 83. Went down like a ton of bricks with the quickness. They didn't even have time to use any specials or aura or anything. Got a GOOD crystal off one credits off the others. What a joke.
Went from there to Lok. Found some GDK's. CL 81 with 34k ham. Got one away from the group and went to work. 30 minutes later I've got him dead and what do I get for my trouble? Nada. I didn't even bother with the others.
HAM regens are ridiculous. The fact they can spam specials without worrying about action is lame. The fact they "heal" without mind drain is lame. The fact that the loots still suck for this increased difficulty is lame. I'm all for more challenging marks so long as their realistic. There is no way the BH NPC BOSS Marks should be like they are. We can't group to kill them like the other mobs in the game. I say put their regens back to pre24. Leave the AI alone, that's not so much my concern as the regen of their ham. If they're going to be able to "heal" they need to have some adverse effect as well.

Boss mark was 36K Ham CL 82
I'm MBH - MR - 3000 CM (1040 FS Crafting)
I was wearing a combination of tantel/ubese armor with 8130 energy protection.
My ALR is 2.xx spd, 1181 dmg, acc bonus of 61. with a SAC pup.
I had taken: Spiced Tea, Blob Candy, Kanali Wafers, Ruby Biliel, Picacloud, Synthsteak (as needed until my tummy filled up)...and popped a Booster blue a few minutes into the fight. The fight lasted several minutes AFTER my Booster blue downer..so the fight took at a minimum of 17mins.
De-buffs I started to use were snare, blind, dizzy, bleed
After noticing that while mixing in these debuff moves, with my standard attack patterns, the NPC Boss' Health was hardly being affected. 1st I tried switching to my FWG, thinking that maybe the Boss had comp armor with some insane energy resists. But the DPS from the pistol was not enough to do any real damage to the mark, he'd regen as fast as I would damage, especially if I was using lower DPS specials. I had to switch back to my ALR, and changethe default attk to Adv Critical Shot, and only use my default attk, and well timed KD's to be able to do enough DPS to start putting a dent in the NPCs health.
What's interesting...it doesn't seem to be EVERY NPC "Boss" mark....as I had another "boss" mark earlier to this one, and did NOT have these kind of issues.

yep Im thinking most boss's are fine, but theres some real nasty ones out there, Ive killed 3 and found 1 nasty one, that I couldnt solo.
Im thinking its good that we get thrown the odd stumbling block, I dont think we should assume we will be able to beat every mark, they are a higher CL and a double gold mark, should we automatically be able to slaughter them all?
I'm not usually one to complain about the difficulty, but dayum... some of those 36K ham Boss marks are now in god mode. Nightsisters are easier thansome boss marksare now... even when they use the force aura+ force speed+ force lightning+ force choke + Saber armor breakon you.

I've fought two of these tough, gold marks so far. I am a MBH / Master Carbineer/ CM 4000. I was wearing composite with roughly 6500 kinetic, 4500 energy, and a PSG with 2200 energy. My gun was an elite with capped damage and SAC, with a good damage PUP. I was not using great food, just some junk I had left over from grinding. In the second battle, I used a 110 medical droid.
The first mark was level 82 andhad 34k health and regenerated it faster thanmy DPS, leaving me with only specials to do 34k damage and overcome the extra regeneration. As with other players, his action wasinfinite. Initially, he used ranged attacks, but immediately closed to melee range. While ranged, he dealt typically around 350 damage to me. However, in melee range (with a combat knife), his attacks started at 600 and just went up from there. I saw at least one 1100 melee hit. Knockdowns, snares, and suppression fire were basically worthless, as he simply burst ran towards me the moment I put any distance between us. Kiting was thusly impossible. I died twice before calling in reinforcements; in both fights, I was only capable of lowering his health to 28k. Two other BH's from my guild arrived to help me and were occasionally capable of damaging him. Even with their periodic attacks and constant heals on me, I only barely lived through the fight. It took us just shy of 10 minutes to kill him.
The second mark was level 82 as well, but had only 32k health. In addition, her regeneration was reduced, although her action remained undiminished. This mark never used melee attacks, but was still quite dangerous. I was ableto lower her to about 33% health before I ran out of mind. My attempts to flee were for naught, as any attempt to put distance between us were met with burst running from her, much like the previous mark.
In my opinion, some of these marks are technically soloable, though the especially potent ones like my first battle are not. I regard any claims of easy kills of these exceptional marks as boastful lies. They are simply too powerful. Some, however, are soloable. As far as I'm concerned, it's not generally worth it, though. Spendingmost ofthe potential reward money on food, spice, medical supplies, and replacement armor for the chance to find something worthwhile is not how I would describe a good deal. To make these marks worthwhile, valuable drops must be almost guaranteed.
I'm a MBH, MP, CM 4000
Before, these guys used to take me two minutes or so to take out..
Now?
It's closer to ten with some of them..
I have an 800dps Trando supressor pistol I use for PVE, I have a full suit of primus layered BH armor, and I can say, the new NPC's are significantly harder..not impossible, but almost not worth the time anymore..Maybe it's a way of slowing down the crazy loot numbers or something..but man..ten minutes for a illegal core booster leaves a bad taste in your mouth..
food : pyro, tea, blob (im the unluckiest looter u will ever meet)
Buff : doc buff
Armour : crappy assault thats battered to heck(i use for npc marks/general pve)
BOSSMARK: first mark in new pub
weapon : sliced Proton carb, pupped..nothing special
met him on tat, 34k..ouch...i call my droid, use my usual KD/para/shock/thy/fire etc starter (duelist used before first shot)
he starts hitting me for 350-500dmg ranged, ouch...but so far nothing i cant handle, then he KD's me, runs in and uses armour break
and starts hitting for 800-1k dmg, i heal, get up, KD, apply drain, brun away, he follows....switches to his carb and starts hitting me again, INSANE regen...i remember the old rule of BH'ing.."get backup" i run into the first lair i can find(i think it was jabba's guys...not sure they were NPC's), idiots STILL use AoE...he aggro's the lair, i whoop him...with lair aggro he fell in 3 min, i do however see a problem with those quiet planets...all that for a stupid mando frame..
BOSSMARK : 31k ,2nd after 6 missions(i seem to get them MORE now?!) Dathomir, same tactic, kite him into a lair, he aggro's some wildlife and tries to kill a Bull Rancor..right...goodluck buddy i move away from them and go prone hit him with my best specials...he falls in less than a min...core booster! yay!(i actually thought i would not be able to loot..that rancor did way more dmg imo)
it seems if u get in close, he takes out his anti-sob stick(halo 2 hehe) and puts the hurt on u(pistols...ouch..i feel for u)
