Thread: last ditch being used as a first strike -exploit-

Don't bring this crap to the Smuggler forum. We'll do to you what we did to the last guy who tried it... tear you a new one. Seriously.
And we won't be as nice about it as these kind BH's have been.
LOL
I wouldn't test the Smugglers on this one ![]()

You've yet to prove it's an exploit. /lastditch is working as intended. Kudos to the BH for figuring this out. It's very risky and will probably fail more than it will work but it's not an exploit. Running to the LOS area and avoiding an attack, that's an exploit. Using the /duel command to determine who a BH is after, that's an exploit. Using a special like lastditched to take out a mark or an NPC, not an exploit.

No, but people hate exploiters.
RebsBeware wrote:Its a perfectly legitimate tactic. I'll kill a jedi any way I can.
In that case, we can say the same about the LOS bug....
Its a perfectly legitimate tactic. I'll stay alive any way I can.
And as for the "Deal with the xp loss, if you dont like it, drop Jedi" crap, it is not the fact that xp is lost, it's that the BH exploited a move as to where we have no chance to defend against the xp loss!!!
Jedi hunting is supposed to hard, and NOT a one-shot activity, if you can't handle that, DROP BH!
This move works about 50% of the time in combat, sothe Jedihad a 50/50 chance of surviving it. :chuckles: Guesshe wasn't on the right ends of the odds there. Are you going to tell us next that /snipershot is an exploit too because I've seen some one hit incapps against jedi at the hands of a rifleman using it.Jedi hadhis saber out, sothe jedihad a chance to block it.Jedi missed,BH didn't. Sounds like the jedi got beat by someone who used better tactics and got a little lucky.

I already made my point furhter up in this thread - one-shot incaps are not intended post-CU as stated by the devs in the published CU design documents, and LD if used as a first strike by a BH can be a one-hit incap.
Since one-hit incaps are not intended and LD is a one-hit incap as described in this thread, it is a bug.
So by using it, a BH is using a bug to gain an advantage over another player, which is the definition of exploit.
It does not matter if the smuggler has a chance to fail - trying to exploit and failing in the process does not legalize an exploit.
And just to clear things up:
I think LD is working as intended.
I think critters / NPCs damaging players is working as intended.
I think insta-incaps by slapping stormies is working as intended.
The only point I am making is that using LD as a first strike on another player with no TEF on the one using LD is a bug. I am not saying LD needs a nerf, I am saying the combination of attacking A to get low health and using LD on B afterwards needs to be fixed.
This issue is of no concern to pure smugglers as far as I can tell, it is only of concern to BHs who picked up LD and use it as a first strike - BH vs. Jedi is the only scenario in which LD can be used as a first strike.

Show me in writing on a page endorsed by a Dev from SOE that one shot kills are exploits?

Not going to spend 30 minutes wading through all the other posts, so forgive me if this has been said already.
What about the BH's side of this? I have made that trip, it is NOT easy. He may not have intended to do this, he might have been running for his life, gotten free of the mobs, and then instead of sitting around for 10 minutes healing up and whatnot giving the jedi ample time to prepare, he just took him out. It is all about the element of surprise.
And as far as that a$$clown who posted that we wont be happy until we can teleport the jedi and have them at 1 hp when they get there, get a grip dude. 75% of the fun in being a BH is the hunt.

I'll give you that pulling out your stormie and slapping him before taking on a jedi is not working as intended but you can't be serious that going after a Jedi on the trails, getting aggroed (which you can never prove was done on purpose, you can get aggroed down there just by looking funny at a spider or Ferrel Wookiee) and using lastditch is an exploit.
