Thread: Bounty Hunter Prerequisites Time for a change?

I have to vote NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


First off all the peeps currently working toward BH and all existing BH's would be totally fubared by this massive change. If we are just handed master brawler we'll all be skill gimped as we'll have no idea what to do with it really.


Secondly, BH could be made viable and brought up to par with a few basic changes.


1)Better accuracy mods especially on FKD which is ridiculously inaccurate when compared


with other KD's at anycarbine accuracy level. *cough chargeshot


2) The addition of med use +5 at the master bh slot (great idea thx wepps)


3) The addition of PC traps "BASED ON THE SCOUT TRAPPING TREE" these traps would


be exactly the same effects as our scout traps but work on PC's and NPC's.


4) Make Fast Blast = Stopping Shot - 100 damage


Thesefew things would easily bring BH on par with other elite classes that spend as much sp as we do. It keeps the integrity of our loved profession without sweeping changes that would in essence change the entire "feel" of our prof. It'd be easy for SOE to implement...

other changes we need are:


1) Fix PC Tracking already... Jedi missions are impossible... and the buggers are totally reproducing like cockroaches... as it stands there is NO REAL challenge to being a Jedi... just a bunch of grinding.


2) DEATHMARKS! Please give the bh some other PC mission types besides Jedi. Honestly, it'd be more fun to track a smuggler or something... They wouldn't be such little pansy's about it.

Going this route is not reasonable now. In essence, we would all have our templates removed on us, and we would all have to start over from scratch losing our masteries, or even novices.


Plus, if we still need to use 217 skill points to master, then it doesn't solve the equation.


The real problem here is getting the skills into this profession which should exist by its nature. Some basic medical, and some technologically based humanoid tracking system.


The unstacking of the crazy defenses coming up solves the PvP problem. All we need is to be able to find our targets without having to go Ranger, and we are basically complete. Medical is secondary, and would be affordable then, and we could pursue other avenues of dabbling.

It would prob be easiest if they simply changed all the BH's to go from having master scout to having master brawler, if they tried to do it any other way they would screw it up. The only big problem I foresee is that ranger could get screwed up. This would be a relatively complicated thing to fix, so that means it prob won't happen. But ideally you would login and receive a confirmation box asking if you want to transfer scout to brawler, if you clicked yes it would do it (and any ranger or other scout based skills would be dropped) if you click no, then maybe it give you a month to move things around so you don't lose any skills.


I honestly /boggle that any BH would want to keep scout over brawler. (I was a hvy swordsman and played with TKA and fencer so I am familiar with the profession).

I'm against this idea too. I like the scout tree, and I love my ranger tracking! It is so nice to go out hunting with friend and be able to tell them what is in the area. I've actually made some credits with these skills too, CH's love it when you say "grizzled dewback baby 347m SE" I see a BH as someone who needs scouting skills, think you wont miss terrain negotiaton? Creat a new toon and go run up a hill, yes vehicles help, but plain and simpe (as stated before) as soon as your in a fight and need to go up a hill you're toast! I think the humanoid traps should be implemented, give us a good dodge (jango did it quite well, except when mace charged him!) and fix the uber stacking of other proffessions defenses! Or how about having lines like this:


Investigation - same with combat droid certification


Ranged combat - a combination of BH carbine and BH pistols, with BH rifle added, each box would require xp from all 3 weapons types but at lower values (say 60K for each versus 175K for one type)


Melee defense - a skill set that would include some melee skills like adisarm (PC's weapon is unequiped NPC same with a delay before they can re-equip), another knockdown and some light defenses


Tracking and Trapping - PC tracking - humanoid traps - BH camp (one person camp with high regen bonus


this would basicly give us a more varried set of skills that I think would be appropriate for the skill points we have to spend.

I think Master Scout needs to stay in Bounty Hunter.


But how about this for a quick way to spice up the profession:


Bounty Hunters should get an option to choose either Master Marksman or Master Brawler.


There would, of course, need to be a new skilltree for this, with new weapons/combat skills. But if it happened, there would be Ranged Bounty Hunters and Melee Bounty Hunters, with identical hunting/tracking/etc skills, but different combat skills.


If people want to have melee-focused BHs, I'm all in favor of it, and it would bring some variety to the profession. Personally, I think there are much more creative ways to improve BH without just swapping one Master box for another, but as a quick(er) fix as opposed to a total overhaul, allowing someone to Master Brawler and Master Scout as a Bounty Hunter might be an interesting new way to play.

I vote No on this change.

Terrain Negotiation is still an invaluable skill for us even if the long runs to the middle of nowhere have been eased by mounts and vehicles. But, once engaged with a mark it is sometimes necessary to maneuver around the area (especially if he turns melee on me and charges), and I can't imagine how frustrating that would be in a hilly area with no TN.

Just build on the other branches of the Scout profession that we don't currently use. A few things I'd like to see would be a few basic humanoid traps, a droid based humanoid AreaTrack skill, and a Bounty Hunter camp (would be a one person camp, like the Basic Camp, but with a higher Heal Modifier than the Improved Camp... although they seem to be making camps useless, so I'll probably be letting this idea go).

This camp adds + 70 to droid track at master! Maybe it even has a little radar on it .. he he.. come on peeps camps are cool.

I think they have to do one of two things.


1. Put some scout skills into BH. Human traps, BH camps, a humanoid maskscent, and the ability to track human players/npc's (probably using droids) would all be neccessary to making our scout skills useful.I also thinkneed to either give us better defenses or ungimp our offense so that a MBH is close to a combat template that uses the same number of skill points but that's another issue.


2. Drop most if not all of the Scout requirement to BH. Frankly this is the easy way out (and therefore the most likely road the Devs will take IMO).I agree with people who say that BH's should have scout skills because it makes sense (we should be tracker/killers). However, if the Dev's aren't going to add scout related skills to the BH tree then the scout Pre-requisite should go.


Right now our scout skills are pretty useless since they aren't advanced in the BH tree and they are a huge hinderance to our ability to compete in PVP. Because of our huge prerequisite BH's have the least amount of freedom in SWGas far as customizing our toons goes and therefore we have a hard time keeping pace with the "uber" customized templates.


If you think something's useful to you as a BH you could always keep it, otherwise we would be able to pick and use what skills we wanted. Maybe you think that we really should have a rifle so you grab that, maybe you like your pistol so you get pistoleer skills. Again this is the easy way out, but to me it would at leat be a tolerable solution.

Maybe this unique BH camp conceals the BH from radar!!!!! like scout camps are supposed to provide a limited mob defence. The camps could be used to set traps for PC marks!

How about we make it so you only need one branch of scout? Then I we could go dabble in pistolas, etc.
