Well to be clear I was maybe refering to someone losing connection while on rori hunting or something. When the BH gets there that there is a (LD) above the marks head....... That is what I was refering to

Remember, your avatar leaves the world 30 seconds after you lose connection. The likelihood of anyone coming across your immobile body in that time on Rori (let alone a bounty hunter that has your mission) is infinitesmally small. So if I come across a Jedi in the wild who is LD, I know he's disconnected within the last 30 seconds... probably because he saw me coming and was hoping for a cheap escape.

If Jedi never abused link-death to avoid termination, I'd certainly be sporting about it. But there are so many poor sports among Jedi that I no longer generally accord them any degree of honor. I'm beyond the benefit of the doubt, considering the long odds that it was an unexpected disconnect.

Incorrect, your avatar stays in game until the next server flush with cycles roughly every 15 minutes. So if you LD towards the end of it, you will only be there for a short time, however if you are unlucky you can stand there for almost 15 minutes.

You're refering to the /logout command which takes you out of the game in 30 secs, but for those 30 secs you are still there.

I've never seen that happen. And since I have two accounts, I can tell you it's not like that. I can /quit with my one character at the same location where my other character last logged out, and when I log in my other account, he's already gone. EVERY TIME.

Maybe cause it takes several minutes to exit the client, restart it and get in game. I can hit disconnect and load up my second character in a matter of a minute and on average my other character is there for about 5-6 min after I am on my other character. I have even taken screen shots and given money to my alt (via /tip) and given zoning rights to him in this manner.

So it really depends on how fast it takes you to swtich over.

Sorry, 30-45 seconds at most. What makes you think it takes me longer than it would take you?

Even if your theory holds true, it doesn't change the fact that Jedi have and do abuse link-death as a means of evasion. I never attribute to coincidence that which can be accounted for by intent. Jedi is being pursued, Jedi just "happens" to go link-dead before BH arrives on the scene... sorry, too pat for me to accept "bad luck". It's the electronic equivalent of upending the chessboard. If I have to kill an LD Jedi, he can be content in knowing that when he logs back in, he'll have one less thing to worry about.

I always db.

Once a Jedi didn't db me. told me to drop the mission. since I had 40 secs on mt incap timer, I dropped.

about 3 weeks later I had his mission again. after a 2 hour running fight over half of Yavin IV, I didn't return the favor.

I've dropped missions with decent Jedi who have good personalities. No sense in killing someone who could be added to my friends list. However, when I do fight, I will DB any chance I get as I am a role player. A real BH would do the same. Any dead Jedi is a good Jedi. I believe Order 66 didn't say anything about "AFK" or "LD"... Talk to the Emperor.

Indeed. I believe the verbiage was "All Jedi are now enemies of the Republic. Do not hesitate, show no mercy."

/peace macro for the win

I remember back in pre-CU, If I had a gank squad I'd throw up my /peace macro and just run to my house.

Never was killed =)

Lame? Maybe to the BH, but better than dying.

well Im a jedi my self I dont disagree with you guys killing a afk jedi if he was stupid enough to go afk in a place like theed then go at him and also I agree for not killing a jedi if he is LD before you get to him and I do agree on killing the jedi if he goes LD during the fight since most likely he is trying to cheat his way out the only thing I wish is that soe would make jedi targets or any overts while loading in not attackable since I have a slow comp so when I hear the combat music come on im screwed but other then that thats all i have to say

Maybe I'd be more sympathetic if I didn't have to spend time chasing down my mark and spend money on probes, seekers, and shuttle tickets only to find my mark AFK in a house. If they considered attacking a LD character griefing, they would have made them unattackable.

From the Knowledge Base (article 7358):

Q: Is it illegal to attack another player who is AFK?

A: No. You may attack any player who has initiated a dual with you, or who is of opposing faction allegiance.
