Thread: Do you DB Jedi's that do not fight back? that are LD and/or AFK?

No not really, item decay, PvP rating and most importantly jedi XP. All of which are important.
wasn't refering to myself going afk (which I don't do without being in a safe location btw) I was just saying some value this more and if someone goes LD and is not attacking back there is prolly a reason. I was trying to make a point there is a difference from fighting Bols or Pickets compared to jedi... if you are confused by what I just said scroll up and read

If they're that important to you, make sure you don't go AFK where you can be attacked. Log out if you aren't at the keyboard.
The odds of a BH finding you in the 30 seconds between loss of connection and your avatar leaving the world are insignificant, unless you deliberately /quit in an effort to escape. If you're having chronic connectivity problems, you'd be protecting your "investment" much better by loggong off and calling your ISP and/or hardware manufacturer. If you choose to log on or remain online, knowing that you have an unstable connection, you have to accept the risks.
Only you can show how important these things really are to you - going AFK or /quitting in a place where you can be attacked shows that they're really not as important as you claim.

The English language really needs a way for the reader to distinguish between "you" as a direct address and "you" meaning the non-specific subject of example.
At any rate, there's always a reason why a Jedi goes LD... and it's one of two reasons: Either a deliberate act or a connection failure. The likelihood of a connection failure happening within 30 seconds of the BH's arrival is not worth considering, unless the Jedi is playing on a system with chronic connectivity issues. So we can conclude that when a BH comes upon a Jedi who is LD, it's almost always because the Jedi knew it was going to happen. Either by willingly accepting the risk of an unstable connection, or by typing /quit. The occasions where it's truly a coincidence that the BH arrives at the same time as an unexpected and rare loss of connection are just part of the chance we all take when we play an online game. I've gone LD in space before when my connection has suddenly dropped - things don't stop firing on me. In the end, all the "bad luck" link deaths balance out I'm sure. We simply need to discourage the deliberate ones - and letting them get away with it would have the opposite effect.
If all Jedi knew that all Bounty Hunters would kill them even if they're link-dead or AFK, no Jedi would abuse them.
Hey, if I come across a 5-year old who has a gun, I'm not taking his candy away from him, I'm going to take away the gun!

I was wondering the enjoyment in this? isn't this griefing? i log out at my house and log back in and i appear in the cloner? i mean... i have NO reason to not fight. But it disgusts me the purpose of fighting when there is no possible fight.
I thought that the purpose of bounties where to fight for your money. Not to just "grief" someone. I guess some people enjoy stealing candy from 5year olds with a gun.
I have, and do, DB under all instances. Heck I've waited for a jeeteye to go LD before. Work smarter not harder.

I was LD once while overt and killed by a Jedi, so don't give me the Honor, Valor, and Fair fighting surmon bub.

Being overt is different than being hunted. You can't compare the two. You knew you were PvP Enabled so I don't see the deal.. you had a certain expectation you may die. Not all jedi like to PvP and like being attacked. Needless to say I don't know many that logout in the middle of the woods or in a busy city. Just mr 2 cr.

Well to be clear I was maybe refering to someone losing connection while on rori hunting or something. When the BH gets there that there is a (LD) above the marks head....... That is what I was refering to
Remember, your avatar leaves the world 30 seconds after you lose connection. The likelihood of anyone coming across your immobile body in that time on Rori (let alone a bounty hunter that has your mission) is infinitesmally small. So if I come across a Jedi in the wild who is LD, I know he's disconnected within the last 30 seconds... probably because he saw me coming and was hoping for a cheap escape.
If Jedi never abused link-death to avoid termination, I'd certainly be sporting about it. But there are so many poor sports among Jedi that I no longer generally accord them any degree of honor. I'm beyond the benefit of the doubt, considering the long odds that it was an unexpected disconnect.
