Looks to me that you already have a pretty decent build to deal with any single BH that comes around. My opinion isnt based off of experience, just off of what I have heard...I would go for the improved valor.
Valor isn't that useful. You'll get better saber block but you'll also do less damage with it on.

Im currently MLS, 4422 powers, 2000 HLR, and 0004 ENH. Working on MLS/MP for my temp.
But id like some defense. I have 210 melee, 238 ranged def with BE clothing, tapes, and food. But dont think thats working i get hit hard!
My question is how good is defender compared to the above. I hear the cap is 500 for both.
Would 0040 defender be ok as it is? 500 def for what 1 min? With a macro going non-stop would probably be all i needed for defense yes? Or does jedi armor play a huge roll in the defense also? Going 4440 perhaps?
Im just not sure about defender, and dont want to sink to many sp's into it. But i quess if i want defense i will have to.
4440, 0040, 0044, or master? Just having hard time to decide because i dont know the facts and figures.
Please explain this to me or point out a good post i can read up on this.
Thank you for your time,
Ono

If you are planning to go toe to toe with a lightsaber user, aura won't help that much. Since Lightsaber's have a very small min/max range compared to other weapons, the aura won't affect the damage as much as innate armor would.

IMO defender is themost important thing in PvE. MDef for the win!

I think that at least getting defender 4040 is useful. xx4x gives aura (very helpful in reducing damage for ranged and melee) while 4xxx gives melee defenses along with innate armor.
The reason that I suggest 4xxx rather than x4xx is that a master powers jedi can "de-buff" your aura (if it has been changed in CU then it may revert back to being debuffed) while a ranged player cannot.
PvP in the post-CU world will be mostly jedi vs. jedi, at least as far as the FRS goes.

That post tells you, that getting jedi is to easy now, you have all these noobs that dont know anything, "whats the best template for pvp, whats the best template for pve," I get so tired, of all these jedi that are going to full template jedis in a very short time, and they don't know anything, dont ask what another jedis template is, do what you like, read about the skills they all have there goods and bads, be your own not a copy cat. defender has its good points and bad points, if you plan on doing pve or pvp there are templates that do both very well, And please dont wine if you get your butt kicked, to many players wine that they loose all the time, LEARN HOW TO PVP, no mater what SOE does to try and balance the system, it wont, be.. some people just know how to use there skills, and some Bounty hunters(ranged) stand in 1 place and wine when they die and send /tells to me saying jedi need to be nerfd, anyway thats some of my soap box, just read about all the skills, my advise, get master Saber or you will be screwd in pve/pvp BYEEE

I have a question regarding the Force Defender tree. Is the "Ranged Defense" granted in that tree the same as the Ranged Defense granted in non-Jedi trees? The character builder I use (Bloodfin.org's) has it as the same thing, but I want to make sure.
Thanks.
Thanks.
