Thread: Why do BH's only hunt padawans

I mainly hunt jedi from 140K to 224K (non-knight) simply because a Knight no longer has anything to lose in terms of XP. I may hunt a Knight in a group just for the fun of it, however solo hunting Knight's kind of take the fun out of it for me. I want to see that XP loss. As a jedi myself, I could care less if someone kills me when I'm a Knight but it gets me fired up to die before that and have to regrind for the xp,,,,as it does most paddys.
'Eternal (Corbantis)
This pretty much sums up the entire BH profession: Grief player who are people hating cowards that need to boost their frail egos by spoiling other people's games.

I have a huge problem with bounty hunters who hunt Jedi to cause exp loss. To me it's the height of cowardice and childishness and is, in truth, griefing. Hunt them for the sport or for the cash, heck, hunt them because you don't like them. But trying to cause exp loss is a stupidity my guild won't put up with.
They also would not hang around starports in droves like kids on a sugar high.

Like I said isn't that a bounty hunters job?
Xp loss for jedi is in the game for a reason. To make jedi less attainable. The only real problem is that finished template jedi aren't affected by xp loss if they were to lose boxes whenever there xp went in the negatives then i assure you that mostbounty hunters would hunt them more often.

Well I've only ever faced two BH during my grind, hehe needless to say I got whooped both times - But i reckon I learned alot & can be proud of myself for
a) putting up a good fight
b) not running away with my tail between my legs :-)
Since hitting my full template i've not seen a single BH after me, I put this downto always keeping my nose clean & never being seen in public - Hopefully i'll get of the terms & stay hidden :-)
My one question to the Bh community is, do you guys ever lose a fight to a padawan, I only ever see I win gloats - are pada's really all gimped to the gunnels kids or just generally crap players ^ ^
I don't care to much for pvp, probably why I'll never go knight :-)
Er back on topic finally - I'd encourage BH to hunt pada's, see what they are made of especially if they lose - It made me more a wary paranoid jedi, just the way they should be in this time period ^ ^
That depends on the template of the paddy. The ones who have a non-jedi template that is mix and match so they could max their FS grind typically have no skills to fight you with. Others who were smart with respecs and whatnot when they had a chance have some decent abilities. I have run into a couple that still had significant doc/CM and rifle skills and these were decent fights. It also depends on the pvp experience of the paddy. I find a lot of paddies have zero pvp exp, they literally don't know anything other than PvE grind. I had a CL80 140k mark asking me questions once after I beat him about PvP damage reduction and such. I find that when I attack some jedi that they don't even force run away for long enought to eat some food and prepare for the fight while I catch up. I see them start trying to attack me with no buffs and never see buffs come up during the fight. I have come up on a Jedi to attack and they have run into a house and come back out without doing any buffs or medding to get their force back. The list of "no pvp experience" mistakes from newb Jedi could go on and on but you get the idea.
I hunt paddies because they need to learn. I hate the full template jedi that run around thinking they are gods and then complain about the need for nerfs when they get beat in PvP primarily because they don't know how to do anything but duel other Jedi.
You may not consider it your job, but by game design it IS the job of the bounty hunter to inflict XP loss on Jedi to balance out the power they receive when they become full template -- and soon to be FRS. A full template knight is substantially more powerful than any other player character. It is the alpha PvP class that when controlled by someone who knows how to PvP can steamroll over any competition in PvP.
Anyone who thinks that there should not be some in-game mechanism to balance this Jedi power has a very myopic, naive view of the game and very little understanding of game balance.
I acknowledge and realize that SOE put in bounty hunters hunting Jedi as a balance tool.
However if you think it is your job to specifically hurt and hinder Jedi however you can, you are the naive one my friend.
SOE wants a balance tool, that balance tool was found in us killing Jedi for a profit. If you can find anywhere in our profession descriptions, anywhere, that it is my job to make sure that Jedi feel bad about signing onto Star Wars Galaxies, I'll concede, but as it stands, they're paying customers too, who have subscribed to a game, and are playing a progressive path within this game.
It's not our job to urinate on their shoes. That's like going "The military was put into place to defend the United States, so it's my responsibility to go to Canada and kill people to prevent them from possibly building an army".

Hmm ... you know, if you replaced "Canada" in your sentence with the name of a certain Middle Eastern country, you would be describing a real life pre-emptive military action taken by a certain country that attacked another on the premise that it "might" be threatening it in the future.
