Thread: Bounty Hunters... what can Dev do Right Now??

Thanks Buxley for your comments, I agree, it is a serious danger that not only will this 'fix' be our 'revamp' but that it will make if more difficult even if we are given additional attention at some point in the future to do a proper revamp because so many of us will be heavily invested in other professions that we won't be able give our core profession its proper role and depth.

I'm not against the reworking our prerequisites or even removing these three trees per se. However, I am strongly against making significant changes to the nature of our profession without these changes being part of a well thought out plan for the future of the profession. I fear these changes may be beneficial to us in the short term but make it difficult to obtain a real revamp of our profession.

I've been watching the discussion on the smuggler boards for the future revamp of that profession and would like to see the same effort put into reconceptualizing this profession. I don't think the devs are going to give us the same level of attention at this point, and may never give us that attention if they consider this change 'a solution' to our situation. I think we need to take matters in our own hands to redesign our profession and the matter of skill points and requisite skill trees need to be determined in this context not in an ad hoc approach.

I am afraid we are going to be stuck with this change, but I express this WARNING to all you posting to have jedi missions moved to MBH only! If you do this you will not be able to master TKA or any of the melee classes! Saying this will just gimp the entire situation even worst then it is. At least with jedi hunting at Investigation 3 and the freed up skillpoints we can be diverse and pick up the professions needed to have a chance against Jedi. I'm afraid however that by saying to move the Jedi missions to MBH you will get your wish and then the entire thing is just fubar again. I am not happy with these changes either, but honestly BH on its own is no match for a descent skilled Jedi. However other elite professions are! MBH Jedi missions will only result in not being able to master those other professions so we still wind up being stuck in a no win scenario.


But maybe this is the very trap the Devs wantus to fall into. "We freed up a bunch of skill points and moved jedi missions to MBH only! YA Your happy now." NO! Either fix the BH skill sets to be at least something of a threat to Jedi or give us back the skill points, but in no way move Jedi missions to MBH only.

You want to make Bounty Hunters better? sounds good, the extra skillpoint idea sounds good too, but could you fix the bounty hunting missions? ive had about 5 bugged in a row recently and its kinda annoying to go through the effort of tracking a target to find that he is invisible. its just its been their quite a while b nice to have bug free bounty hunter missions

You guys now know that everyone under that big fake SUN in the game is going to go MBH. With those extra skill points and stuff, you have like 85% of SWG switching from their current template to MBH/somethine else. Almost every one of my combat friends is doing it, I know the UBER ones are. I think this is a stupid move, its eh, dumb. I think Master scout and master marksman is good..... just takes too many skill points... should give it back .

I swear the devs could make the best decission ever and there would be people on these forums that would argue it.

I think these changes are a great idea. It will allow bounty hunters to have more skills and such. It is a great start in my opinion, and cant really see why anyone would dissagree.

I disagree because everyone is going to be MBH/SOMETHING ELSE!!!! Dude do you not see it!!??? INSTEAD OF ALL THE TK/SWORDSMAN/FENCER, there will be MBH/SOMETHING ELSE EVERYWHERE!!!

This game was meant to give characters flexibility rather than forcing them to pick a proffession. Boosting up BHs and Commandos so they are equal in power and yet worth the points they take will make the game much better than making MBH the cookie cutter uber class in the Combat Rebalance. Commando and BH take alot of SP right now yet both are weak with alot of broken skills and lines. I like the change, it will be good to see not all MBHs will be quite so cookie cutter now.

It all depends on what you what MBH to be. If this game is to be about becoming a Jedi and then having people to support the Jedi then this is the right path to go, cause as it stands this just makes BH that much easier for the noobs and little freaky freakies out there to play with. I am glad that we are getting the points,but that doesn't mean that I think they are the answer. I feel that the development team decided to make a quick answer to a long standing problem that is the Bounty Hunter Profession. If they are fine with it, then really we as a whole can't do anything about it. I would hope that they read these forums, but already knowing that my post is somewhere around 580 or so, I very much doubt they will get this far, or not just skim over. I personally think the Devs need to,


1. Improve the weapon capabilities of the Bounty Hunter: this does not mean make him the be all end all, or make him the definate killer of Jedi.It just means that weapons such as the LLC and the specials that go with the other two combat trees need to beexamined at by someone who is not stuck on a stagnant line of their development team.


2. More Imiganation on bounties: Yay i tracked a bounty to the middle of the woods, umm why is he in the middle of the woods? Have them start in cities, have them move in groups, have them sitting in the cantina drinking and doing what real people who don't know they have boutnies (or do) do.


There have been plenty of other ideas already mentioned, thoughts on weapons, thoughts on tracking, all of them are good or bad. I just want the devs to have a live open forum for the Bounty Hunter tree, like they have done in the past, and let us speak to them directly, these forums are only really for us anyways. Yes I know, sometimes we get little messages from the devs agreeing what we said, but how many have really gotten a response. I am sure some people will respond to this saying they have, I don't believe most of you so bugger off.


We as the bounty hunters are supposed to be a unique class in the Starwars Universe, the problem is this isn't the books, this isn't some tabletop rpg, this is an alternate universe type deal where we play the game, and at no time does it have to follow how the series or the books go. yes the over all theme must, but if they(the devs) feel like nerfing us, and prostrating the Jedi, well thats what they are going to do, regardless.


I will continue to be a Bounty Hunter. I hope that real changes are made, and not some false token of idealism. If not, oh well, as so many have said before, thanks for trying, and its just a game.

Ok well it seems people are talking about BH and its uberness in the combat rebalance. I got this to say, all I want is to be able to kick a... I dunno.. Jedi Knight's atleast ARSE. I mean, we're BH and we are meant for that, I saw a melee kick a Jedi guardian to death senseless, but if we go in they block every shot. WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE THE ONES TO PUT THEM IN CHECK! Ok!? So dont do anything to our combat, I am fine with that, I just want to be able to shut down the Jedi's Ego when it gets too big, and believe me right now its enourmous. I am tired of all the jedi going into theed and saying crap. Just make BH Powerful against Jedi, make US the ones that are good with them NOT MELEE. We are meant to shoot them to death but not when they block every freakin' ranged shot!!!!!!! WE CANT TOUCH THEM, AND WE ARE THE BH, its dumb if you think about it isn't it??? Yeah you should try that sometime eh?
