Thread: Killed a Knight

I hate to be a stinkypoo over this, but as a bounty hunter myself (note I don't have any jedi characters whatsoever) I opened this thread wondering if I'd see details of how a bounty hunter took out a full templated padawan (ex-knight) in a standup fight. Its tough, but its certainly possible - I know from experience.
In my view, there is nothing impressive about attacking a target when they are least expecting it, already engaged in another fight etc. The original poster goes on to outline how easy it was to take out this former knight, and the jedi had the good grace to be decent about it from the report given.
I suspect I am one of a very rare breed that doesn't take satisfaction from this kind of kill - to me, it seems like claiming credit for work that you did not do, rather akin to plagiarising someone's work. I understand that very few bounty hunters would agree with my actions, but most would outright criticise it, call me a 'noob', say that its stupid, and so on. I approach my targets, tell them that I'm there for them, and then wait until they are prepared to fight. If they run, they are informed that I will pursue them and that by running they are foregoing their preperation time - however should they stand and fight, they will be given ample opportunity to restock foods, regen their force, equip their chosen clothing etc.
I can't tell you how much more satisfying it is to beat Jedi (yes, even full templated ex-knights) in this manner - you would have to experience it yourself. The keys to this are not position, position, position, as the quoted post states.. but rather three other 'P's.. Preperation, Practice and Patience.
Preperation to ensure you are properly equipped to begin, last through, and then end the fight - this includes foods, spices, your weapon choices, armour, pups, stims, and anything else you might need. Practice to ensure you know your template well enough to know what to do, to recognise your opponent's template and style, and to stay in control of the situation. Patience, to engineer the fight to the point that, through your patience, you can identify the correct time to go all out for the killing blow - almost certainly when you give the Jedi a straight-up fight one on one, this is not at the start of the fight.
Killing a Jedi while hes afk, in a cantina watching entertainers, linkdead, half-dead from a bol lair or incapped from a friendly duel does not strike me as particularly impressive. Calling out your target, letting them fight when ready for you, and still coming out on top not only impresses much more, but wins a lot more respect both from the Jedi, the server community, and fellow bounty hunters. ![]()

the tag "Jedi Knight" is related to that jedi's position in the Jedi level tree, not by their position in the force ranking system like the tags "Dark Jedi Consular" those jedi who are jedi knights may not be able to wear their appropriate robes since that is part of the force ranking system, but they are by all means a jedi knight. I would think you would applaud any bounty hunter who defeated a jedi, especially one of such prestige... no honor among theives?
For me personally (and I understand I'm in the minority), theres no honour in walking up to a target who has his back turned and his hands tied, and blowing a hole in him without so much as a 'how do you do?' - however this is the bread and butter style that most bounty hunters adopt.

Cant agree there, cheap kills yes mean nothing but ingenious kills now they are worthy of mention.
when i first ran into Fura (tsemerah) was when she was hunting me, the thing is (and this is key) she didnt make out she was hunting me. Me and a few guildies were off krayting one of them also a jedi knight spots Fura and yells into groupchat that hes got a bh following him. These were the days of the group TEF you must understand, so in we headed to his position to give a bit of backup.
I arrived first and was suddenly under attack, iirc poisoned and diseased which pre cu was pretty nasty. So thinking wth i have nothing to lose continued to fight telling my guild mate to leave. Due to heal poison being pretty crap vs well crafted stuff i ended up dying only to notice "you have lost 450k experience message".
Shed seen us out hunting and followed us to note who was here. Letting my friend think he was being hunted then attacking me.
Now that is worth way more than a stand up fight.

Nice timing on your takedown to the OP
Thanks to Ani'a L'o for the funny story ![]()

Cha Ching !
Ya, this "Jedi Knight" (it was the tag he had up, was Pre-CU I guess)I killed also was a 226K Jedi. Got a bundle of credits and all I was expecting was a trip to the cloner. =)
He was in a cantina, had a dancer targetted, and apparently was going through his inventory (with no aura or valor up.) That's when I decided to hit him, even though he had stood behind me just outside of the starport while I pretended to not notice him. Didn't get a /duel message from him, but that doesn't mean he wasn't trying it. If he had done it, he either is really bad or just really didn't think I was a threat and when I didn't attack him right away he wrote me off and went about his business.
I saw his toon clapping indicating watching an Entertainer (had him on /examine while I stood outside), and noticed he didn't have defenses up. Walked in, /underhand, /crit, /quick, /crit, /quick, /crit, /deathblow. He was trying to heal the entertainer at first because guess who he had targetted. =P
He was a good sport though. He just laughed and said congrats, apparently BHs had been trying him non-stop for the past two days and I was the first one to take him down.

Come on you're going to call that a bug exploit? It wasn't like it was the passthrough healing glitch. the Jedi simply didn't have a macro replacing his heal button for /forceheal self;
It's just a tough break for the jedi.
If the jedi was not in a group and had someone else targeted and could NOT heal himself it is the bug, and this BH clearly rejoices in using bugs to take down his marks... when you use a bug to your advantage in a game its the defination of an exploit.
Pathetic
But the BH has ZERO control over whether or not the Jedi was targeting the Entertainer. Oh, and it isn't a bug that just because you got attacked, your target doesn't automatically shift to the target when you are targeting somebody else. This is because that person technically could be in combat(all be it in a different group) and you could be trying to heal him, but because the game keeps changing targets because you're getting shot you can't.
There was no bug/exploit used here. unless i missed something, which i don't think so

That is a bug where you heal soemone else by accident... by this players own admission he waitied and watched till he saw him clapping and then attacked.

Ok wow, you obviously don't PvP what-so-ever and if you do you're not very good. How is a bug to heal other members of your faction standing equal to or below yours? So, you're saying the ability to heal friendly players is a bug?

Wow… sooo many ppl jumping in with the “there are no knights” and he’s only a padawan or the nice exploit card. What a bunch of cry’n A$$ **modbot**’n… just give the man the props he disserves for killing a mark that without a doubt had some experience in fighting under his belt. I congratulate you for doing what most of the ppl in this thread can only **modbot** about doing.
here here! The poor guy has come onto his own forum to tell his fellow BH about a kill he is proud of, regardless of what "level" this jedi is at, and all that happens is he gets flamed!
A jedi kill is a jedi kill and as BH we should celebrate that kill, be it a low level paddy or a "once was a knight".
Shame on you all!
Give the man a pat on the shoulder for doing his job properly and wanting to come tell us about it! he is obviously proud of it and so he should be!
Nice one mate - i salute you! keep up the good work!

This may not be a big deal to you all, but for me it is a big win.
I took out a Jedi Knight today. The battle lasted less than 10 seconds.
No, this Knight was not AFK or LD or Spinning.
But he was doing something that had him distracted, and I completely took him by surprise.
Wits over "I CLIK & PWN U!" methods, any day.
In addition, I do not have an uber weapon. I was using a basic High-Capacity Scatter Pistol with a power-up. Nothing special.

while it can be argued that the kill you made was not actually a knight, he/she was still a jedi that has been playing along time and presumably know's their template very, very well.
Congrats man.
Wrong, CU is nothing like Pre-CU, he knows nothing more about his template then anyone else playing CU. As someone already stated, the only assumption you can make about someone with a knight tag/gaurdian/master tag up is that they probablyhave a pretty good saber.
