But remember this MBH never have to worry about losing XP. Keep that in mind when you hunt jedi. Thats what makes them so bitter, we have nothing to lose... everything to gain. The Jedi has everything to lose and NOTHING to gain in teh encounter.

Making BH lost exp, skillboxes would go against the main objective of having BH's... which is to encourage BH to hunt Jedi to discourage Jedi being so open about their profession.

Kind of poor planning on SOE's part. They wanted to scare Jedi into becoming a bit more reclusive, not branding their sabers and dueling in spaceports, etc. But that didnt work and now there's too many BH to retract what they implemented.

Are you? Really? You don't want people to be mean to you. What would you consider mean? I consider mean to be someone attempting to cause me to lose several hundred thousand Jedi XP. I'm a married father of 3 with 2 jobs and 9 hours of lecture in a Master Program. I have very little time to play, and I happen to consider it extremely rude for someone to attempt to try to wipe out all of the progress I may have made in the precious few hours I get to play any game at all.

Maybe that doesn't fit your definition of mean, but the last time I checked, most civilized places in the world don't begrudge you a few choice words you may have for an assailant. Maybe if you came up, took a few shots, dropped the mission and said "Hey, I dropped it, duel now for cash" you'd get a fair fight and someone that will show you a little respect. Otherwise, don't expect it, you haven't earned it.

It's not mean because you knew that was the case before you became a jedi and you accepted that. You understand the risks of being a jedi and the fact that SOE is trying to keep our population in balance to a slight degree.

I cant speak for you but I know quiet a few people personally in game who don't care about being hunted but once they get jedi they whine and complain about it, because it's happening to them..Get over it, it's a part of the game.

I have to agree totally with CPA. It IS mean to wipe out someone's hard work, because you believe it's your "job" to do so. It is a game mechanic, and something every Jedi has to live with. But contrary to what every BH out there thinks, including BoyOfLight and the OP and evidently lots of other Jedi, Jedi DO NOT HAVE TO LIKE IT. Living with it and liking it are two different things. So many people say 'you knew the risks, stop complaining'. To those people I say, who are you to control what anyone else should think or say? It is mean, it is cruel, it is flat out griefing to willingly and knowingly inhibit another's progress, no matter how you look at it. But again, having said that, it IS a game mechanic, and one that too many people complain about seemingly without realizing that there are very, very easy workarounds.

Don't get visibility. Period. Hide your ass from everyone. XP in the dark, in the corner of nowhere, against creatures, if you can't afford to be killed by a BH. Put your equipment away if a non-group member approaches, if you can't afford to be killed by a BH. Stop doing quests that involve NPCs, if you can't afford to be killed by a BH. Does it take longer to XP? Of course. But you a) bypass the problem of visibility, which automatically bypasses the problem of trash-talking or XP-stealing BHs; b) play into the real role of a Jedi in this timeline, which is to be hidden; and c) follow the intended path the devs set out, which is slow progress for Jedi. If enough people did all those thigs, maybe the devs would eventually give Jedi back some semblance of the power and mystery they had pre-publish 9.

Im just saying there are a lot of tools that wear an MBH on their tags. People that room the planets looking for jedi grinding miles from nowhere, treesquid is one. I like to take a mission then hunt, not go give someone vis while looking for an easy mark, especially when you give some low level paddy vis then go do a ID bounty droid till you get the guy you want.

There are just as many losers playing MBH as playing Jedi. I agree about the glow sticks in starports, i'll never forget those tools on Starsider running around C-net killing every reb they saw, even in line for a doc buff. Even worse it was some poor little noob that thought it would be cool to be a REB.

I still think wookies hold the whine record for their little sit in almost a year ago.

NO ONE can tell me their profession was harder to get than my jedi. Oh and for the morons reading that dont belive me... try getting 500-900 jedi Xp while your NON JEDI groupmates are getting 6100+ XP. Oh and you need 200k for the first box 400k, 800k 1.6mil. You need to do this for 4 trees to get the opportunity to try for 3.2million to make master. All the while fighting off + 500k NEGATIVE Xp BHs gave. Oh and you need 2 masters to make cl80. The same CL80 you got in 1 week

No. Once you became a Padawan you surrendered all rights to not be hunted. You don't have to like it, but don't say it shouldn't be allowed. And it isn't cruel; it's my profession's content.

You are wrong. I retain the right to not be hunted. Every Jedi does. I exercise that right in-game by staying hidden, and not doing things to put myself on the terminals. I do that to avoid trash-talking BHs. I do that to play my role. But mostly, I do that to take away your content. I am doing my part to remove this facet of BH content as much as possible. BHs have great content now... high-level NPC marks that drop awesome loot. You don't need Jedi. It's no longer your "job" to grief Jedi. Jedi are only part of your content now, and from a reward perspective, definitely not the most rewarding part.

Make no mistake, though. I don't blame the BHs. Technically, it is griefing for me to stay off the terminals, as I am interfering with your content by doing that. SOE and LucasArts made me your content. How sad is that? But I am enjoying it. As much as you enjoy ruining other people's hard-earned progress, I enjoy not being there for you to kill.

Incidentally, for what it's worth, I mostly agree with your original post. People who trash-talk when you kill their friends are pretty immature. You have to expect some sort of retaliation though. Friends who don't stick up for you aren't very good friends. But it'd be nice if the trash-talking went away. Sadly, it's hard to see that ever happening, because of the kinds of people these professions typically attract (and yes I guess that includes me to a degree though for different reasons).

I can see where you're coming from. But understand that when SOE developed the game, it was a game that was supposed to non-Jedi/BH centric. I remember in the early days when you saw a Jedi, it was the big event of your day. Now it's a big day for you if you DON'T see a Jedi. They countered the Jedi growth with implementing player hunting for BHs. I don't think they ever expected it to get to the point of replacing the GCW as the main conflict in the game. But that's what has happened.

That said, you aren't taking away my content by not getting vis. At any given time, there are alwways at least 10-15 Jedi missions on a page of the terminals. It doen't say "Error, No Jedi are out tonight" each time you guys don't have enough vis. I could decide to hunt at 3:45 AM and I would still have a huge selection of which Jedi to hunt.

Your job isn't BH population control. And I recognize that mine is not Jedi population control, even if that is what BH was designed to be. We're past that point now. The fact of the matter is, Jedi is meant to be a hard prof, and that's pretty evident in its multi-month grind. As BHs, it's really a fun concept to be able to go out and stalk another player, and eventually engage and try to kill him/her. It's not that we like taking away your XP, not all of us do, but you knew that was part of the deal when you became a Padawan and got a free 2nd character (Which, btw, many of you make a BH out of).

Have to agree with you on everything there. Very shortsighted on LucasArts' part to not see that BH/Jedi was going to become the be-all-end-all. Most MMO gamers like PvP. Most want to be the best at everything. When LucasArts said Jedi was endgame and would be the most powerful template, that was the carrot to end all carrots. And when they ended up saying that BH would be population control, and it would be the BHs "job" to keep the Jedi population down, they basically told all gamers come one, come all.

I didn't quite say I'm taking away your content... I said I'm doing MY part in that by not allowing myself to be your content. You are definitely right - at any given time there are scores of Jedi ready to be hunted. And that makes sense if they are fully templated. I've been a Jedi for almost 6 months now. I'm not fully templated, and I won't be for probably another year, because of the restrictions I put on myself.

Really good point at the end, by the way - many people use their alt to be a BH. To me that was hypocrisy at its worst, as most would complain about BH while having one of their own and doing exactly what every other BH was doing. Now, however, with the NPC mark loot drops, it makes a lot more sense strategically, though you still have the ones who kill Jedi with their alts and whine about BHs. And from what I've noticed, most of the BHs that enjoy taking XP from Jedi feel that way because of the "I-should-always-win" attitudes of some Jedi. That ruins it for the rest of us, because in some people's eyes we're ALL labeled with having that attitude, and that's just not true.

If you are for example, a dark jedi talking to a BH, saying something like "pathetic" makes sense. If you are a light jedi, it doen't really. I never bow my head to my opponent, might shake my head at them(i'm a light jedi). I do however send an ooc: good fight tell.
