for those of you who think that the post on the front page is related to those who have Jedi already - it is partially. the part about the deaths refers to them

the part about quests most assuredly applies to those seeking a force senstive slot.

TH has made it fairly plain saying things such as this from swg stratics

http://swg.stratics.com/content/news/GeneralNews.php#newsitem1074927463,83786,

I do think that a cap on jedi's being created is wrong but i also think that with the new system of skill revocation to many people will remain it and it will create a jedi glut on the server.

as they said this is just a first pass quicky solution to the fact tha jedi is kinda boring right now I think that they will be looking for a better skill revocation system and balance system - i am sure it will not be a jedi cap.

So long story short... I love the idea of a quest oriented path to unlock the FS slot. I think the one thing that should be considered is this as well.. If we go to quests and such... keep in mind there are some professions that cannot hunt and kill as well as others. Some quests should be geared towards the dancer classes and the artisan classes that maybe aren't quite as tough. Just a thought... I prefer harder more challenging quests but I am a combat class and can handle it much easier.

I agree about the quest base opening having to be different for different professions-

What i would really like to see is a dynamic quest based system - not a generic one. One that adapts to what you play like and creates missions that apply especially to you. So there is no 1 path to the force.

eg:

your a female mon cal who is a architect, youcome across aburned out house while collecting from your harvestors.

In the house you find a dying jedi who says they see a potential in you... they tell you to seek enlightment by developing an abode oflife in in the wastelands of ... and dies

what does this mean? who knows... but it could be placing gardens on Lok, placing a house in the deserts of tattooine, helping a chef grow food by selling farms to them so that they can raise plants... or even growing your own plants in a farm.

maybe wierd but it would be fun and it would not be an easy task - as you would have only a desire to develop your skills in both the jedi realm and also how do your ablities apply towards it

dancers musicians fighters... all would get something related to their play styles but it would be different for each person

in fact you could have like 15 things per professions that you have that could be picked (any three missions - but they are directed to you you don't pick them) and it could be based on the first three professions you play for more then 40 hours or something.... (indicating play style)

would create a psuedo-random quest system - that would be incredibly fun to play through - if a little frustrating at times ^-^

I'm a brand new player of five days, and most of my friends already on the game have been doing the holos. Really, I don't see what the big deal is. Any path towards becoming a Jedi is going to be difficult. And I think it's great that they gave holos as Christmas presents.

People love Jedi. They, with the Force, are what make Star Wars different from other Sci-Fi stories and universes. Why are people playing the game? Even the person who says they refuse to become a lame 'grinder' or whatever can't say that Jedi aren't what make Star Wars cool.

I certainly don't think that capping the limit of Jedi is a good idea at all. What fun would that be? I mean, what's wrong with lots of Jedi? Wasn't one of the coolest parts of Ep. II the battle on Genosis with like, lightsabres swinging around everywhere? To me the idea of a big group of Jedi out together going hunting and having a fun time and being a community is a great idea.

Being a Jedi should certainly be hard, but not something for the elite.

As a new player, I like the game a lot. The only thing that dissapointed me a little was the small number of planets. There's plenty for building up and stuff, of course, but it'd be awesome if there was a Coruscant (though it would kill me with lag, the entire city, lol) and a Genosis or even a Kamino. And the only other thing that dissapointed me was that in some of the feature locations, people built houses and shops that sorta ruined the view. Which is like tourism IRL, so... =3

All things considered, I'm just having fun working on becoming a Scout (it's hard!) and spending quality online time with my boyfriend and our friends in the Star Wars Syndicate (AL's fan club). But yeah, I am a brand new player, so I haven't got any holos and I haven't mastered any professions. But so far, I love it. And I guess I don't understand why people are so adamant about there being a cap to the number of Jedi.

The dev's said that for people who have been working on holos they wont be left out in the rain when the new patch comes. No one knows what holos will be for when the new patch comes out.

when the quest system is implemented in publish 8 will all the people who have done 4 of their proffessions have to start over or will they get a jump ahead in the quests equivilent to that? I sure hope its the latter cause starting over after all that time....I'm scared for SOE public relations...

publish 8 will be likely released at the end of may, so that leaves plenty of time for a die hard grinder to finish up

it's not worth the grinding tho

Well according to SOE, you will recieve credit for doing the holocron quests in the new upcoming Jedi quest system. Personally, I don't see the point in grinding it out. The quest system would be some much more fun, and in my opnion rewarding then just grinding for the next 2 months.

A guy read on ign that haden blackman or one of the devs said that the new jedi system is going to make unlocking your jedi slot much easier and there will be no guessing. But becoming a jedi or jedi master will be much much harder. He said there will be alot of fs characters but you will rarely see a jedi master.

wow I dont have a jedi but it seems pretty sucky for the people who spent time going through all those prof. just to find out that they are making it easier to get the slot but even harder for them to progress.
