he entered into a verbal contract with another player, accepted payment, and then broke the contract. that is trade fraud.

Personally (and I know this doesnt mean much) I think its sad if a game limits your roleplaying abilities because of stupid crybabies like him. I know people here say that roleplaying doesnt make you above the EULA, I know it doesnt, but I just think its really sad. Any time in life if I'm stupid enough to get ripped off I consider that a fault of my own, not the guy who ripped me off. People need to learn to take responsibility for their actions, because if you do, you might learn a thing or two about life.

I can see your point, and would say - You beat him fair and squere. If he payed you the money, you should be banned. If he never payed, and it was just an agreement - then he dosent deserve to be a Jedi ![]()

if you ever came to chimeara you would be welcomed with open arms and a scatter pistol all warmed up for you to sacrifice a Jedi to the god of the BH's.

The fact that he db'd him is not the issue. The issue is that he took money to not db him and then did it anyway. Had he tipped the money back after he would probably be fine. But by keeping the credits he committed fraud. Will he get banned....probably not. Should he.....absolutely. And this isn't a Jedi vs BH issue. Anyone that commits anykind of credit dupe / fraud / etc should be banned.

This is not a bannable offence. I sent in a ticket about this yesterday. I asked if upon agreeing to not DB in a duel or any fight for that matter and then DB anyway is bannable. THe response I got was that SOE does not in anyway enforce any kind of agreements regarding PVP. You fight at your own risk and getting DB'd is a risk you take. Your fine, and very cunning I might add. Fine work!
Was he advertising a service? No. There was no fraud. It was a bribe not a trade agreement. Just because you offer someone a bribe doesn't mean they are going to do what you ask... By trying to circumvent the bounty system, the Jedi is effectively trying to cheat. It's hardly fraud to accept money to do something illegal and then not do it.
The XP loss for Jedi is also meant as a deterrant for exploiting the Bounty system to accumulate lots of cash - otherwise, you'd have Jedi just getting on the Terms so their BH friends (what an oxymoron) can grind cash over and over and over...
Fraud is defined as falsely representing one's intentions to make a gain at another's expense.
You can't spell it out any clearer then that..... And it's been said by several CSR's that BH's extorting money for not db'ing is not illegal (whichI disagree with), so your argument about a Jedi initiating that agreement is invalid.

He is a fool for giving you money period. Next time your offered a bribe agree to it in a vague way if you want to be technical. Say something to the line of "I'll take the money." That way you dont agree to no DB. In any case I doubt you'll get banned, you might get an email scolding you not to do it again.

An email posted here a while ago from a Dev stated that you can't be banned for killing someone if theyre on the terms. If someones on the terms and you kill them once every 6 minutes, its their fault for being on the terms and it cannot be defined as griefing. The system is working as intended.
If a mark pays you to stop hunting them, drop their mission, go kill another Jedi and then get their mission and get them.

Technically it wasn't a duel.
Can't duel someone with your mission.

I'll go further than my other post did.
I really REALLY want to tell you that you definately won't get banned for doing this but the probability (depending on the CSR) is that you would. Its a shame that Jedi feel they should be able to trust anyone when they're the most sought after and high priced marks in the universe to the most ruthless lowlifes in all creation ![]()
