With another nerf everytime you turn around I think the nunber of jedi will be dropping anyway, just as intended by the devs.

And the jedi that are left will only be an empty shell of what we once were.

Has anyone created a new character lately? I did the other night, and as you leave the space station a "jedi/sith" (depends on how you answer his question) will suddenly be attacked by another jedi/sith. They have a light saber battle and he tells you to run while he holds him off. Why? Because the other NPC already senses the force potential in you. When you land on Tat, your first trainer goes on about how you are more special than you think..

From the very first few minutes of creating a character, you are being sold on the idea that you have the potential to be a Jedi. So do NOT expect there to be a hard cap imposed...anytime soon or ever.

The Force is like duct tape. It has a light side, a darker side, and it binds everything together.

Sheesh. I'm gonna make one as soon as I get home tonight to check this out. Amazing. Become jedi but we'll gimp your sabre forever if you weren't playing the game before Pub 17.

Yes I have been a completed template jedi for a while.

I don't know how to quote folks when posting but I see a lot of people that seemed to have not read my post clearly. It would be unfair to "cap" the population immediately. There would need to be a grace period of whatever time is reasonable within a year...but not over a year.

1. Stop advertising Jedi as a viable profession. If anyone buys the game, they aren't expecting to be able to become a Jedi. Just like it was prior to launch.

2. Anyone in the game currently has the option to start to become a jedi within a year. Some folks will, some folks won't. Some love the way their profs are and won't change even with a jedi cap on the horizon.

3. No one lose a jedi they currently have. Regardless of what stage they are at. You just turn off the tap so it's not gushing out jedi.

A cap on jedi will make jedi a semi-rare profession (if even that with all the jedi in the game currently, at least on my server.) and allow certain balancing issues to come better into play. The more jedi you have, the more they become just another average profession.

agree on the cap , but i always say every player must have the chance to become one

on the cap you telling here afther 3 months 6 month or year is a good idea

than the player knows how the game works

sounds good

I would like to suggest, and I am sure I am not the first to mention it, that the developers institute a population cap on the number of Jedi allowed in the game.

will NEVER happen...80% of the player base at least has or is working on jedi...how can you tell them sorry your work means nothing to us...we are capping it. please still play though!

I am so tired of the I have my jedi so lets cap it posts...

SOE is and will do this though.

balance jedi into the system so they are an elite combat class

put in the force ranked system WITH A CAP that will allow for limited...VERY limited numbers of uber jedi.

The FR system will be tough...very tough and will be very hard to hold onto that spot.

I don't like a cap. Or anyway that restricts people from becoming a Jedi. I also don't care how many there are. I have responded before on other threads that discussed this and my option has always been the same. As someone has already mentioned it in the thread, a non-Jedi server. This would make everyone happy. Those that see an over population of Jedi and those that think that the numbers don't matter. I know SOE said it will never happen. I have never heard a reason but I'd like to know. Maybe it's really good and would do more harm to the game then good. Anyway, that's my idea.

A non jedi server is a good idea but it won't happen for this reason (reason given by SOE)
They do NOT want to have to support two versions of SWG as it drives up costs/coding time and is tricky to do.

Ahhh. I knew there was a good reason. Can't say I disagree with it.

The original design intent was for anyone to be able to become a Jedi.

It also was to have limitations on how easy/hard it may be to try and control population, but even the original system didn't have a hard limit on the number of Jedi per server.

<shrug>

It's an ugly situation to manage - people think Jedi when they think Star Wars - the game has to have Jedi, but how is it controlled fairly? Then throw in the marketing aspects (they do want to sell more of the game, and again Jedi sells) ....

Now that you have your jedi it is not fair to cap it for all the other jedi hopefulls out there.

See your not understanding what I suggest. It would clearly be unfair to not allow anyone currently in the game or who has just bought the game to not be given the option to become Jedi. But, once the advertising that you can become a Jedi stops, then a year down the road they put a cap for the number of Jedi in the game, together with announcements of the plans to current players, then everyone will have had fair warning of what is to come. Those just buying the game in the future will not be expecting to be able to become Jedi cause it would not have been advertised as a viable option.

I don't agree with this because originally, there was no advertising that you could become Jedi. Even in the manuals they sold listed all professions EXCEPT Jedi.
