One more thing you should know about them, you have to agro the mark before the droid detonates. In other words you can't start your assault with the det droid. If you blow up the droid and you only have a tef on your target, it will do no damage, they must be red to you. I didn't realize this when I started using them and it cost me a droid and a trip to the cloner.

Unless this a changed with a recent patch, this is not true. I once sat in front of a mission terminal that a jedi was using with my droid out and set it off while he was getting missions.. It took his mind down to just a few hundred points and i finished him with my scatter. I also incapped a jedi who was getting mind buffed in a cantina, in both of these attacks the droid was the first assault.

Hmm.. perhaps I was wrong. I set one off right next to a jedi I had a tef on at a shuttle term and it did 0 damage and didn't even agro him. Maybe it was just a bug.

Yes I've used them with only the BH tef quite a few times. Also to call them during combat they must be called from the deed... If you're still aggroed you won't be able to teach them the group and follow other commands, but can detonate.

in a nutshel:

my mse det power 36 does around 1200-1600 dmg to whatever pool it chooses..so i can incap unbuffed jedi and i can db him

yes u can db incapped jedis after using your droid.

my R3 det power 56 does between 3-3.6k damage and can incap full buffed toon....

i find it pretty fun for me to use droids and i like using them whenever i can....

i also love dueling so i dont use them as much as i would like..but when jedi get low on his force and start to run and actually escape i always wish i used that droid on him.

hope it helped

The Advance R3 can have the highest Detonation rating, at 60; however due to the complexity of the droid they will more then likely run you at least 60k, depending your your server and pricing.

Yes it is possible to make other types. The MSEs are popular because they're cheap to make and actually get a bonus to detonation modules.

I don't know if every droid chassis can use detonation modules, but I know the R-series can, and it's not uncommon to see R3 Bomb Droids (since R3 can hold 6 modules, most of any droid currently).

MSE

  • gets +10 detonation ration bonus to every detonation module inserted. 2 modules max (theoretical max of 20) +20 bonus for two modules

  • pretty cheap to make

  • crate up in blocks of 10 droids

R3

  • 6 modules max. no detonation bonus. theoretical max of 60 detonation power

  • much more expensive to make, because of required factory subcomponents

  • crate up in blocks of 5 droids

Ok. Thanks for your answers, made things very clear to me. Going to need to use these babys alot more once I hit investigation III. Now I got a follow up question. How much damage output is it per detonation point?

The average is 175 per point, minus the PvP penalty, and armor resistances.

Be sure to check out the DE 101 guide, stickied to the top of this forum. It has a few sections that might help you out with any other questions.

Thanks a lot.

Ok, its been a while since ive used one but basically i think you use the /detonatedroid or maybe its /detonatebomb command when u have the droid targeted and then it'l countdown from 5 then blow. It may be a good idea to teach it commands like follow target, and follow and get it to chase target then blow. I think it stops moving once the countdown to detonation starts tho.

Piemaster is pretty close.

I use these bomb droids all the time and anyone that would not use them is missing out of the greatest 1 shot hit you can have. I've nailed Jedi for 1,800+ damage all the time. A Power level of 52 Droid will run about $35k each so use them wisely.

Here is how it works. First thing you need to do is name your Droid.

Then you willneed 2 macros.

  1. Targeting Macro

    • The Default command for your droid to follow someone is "chase"

      • /tellpet chase

      • This will get your Bot to follow what ever you have targeted all over

  2. Detonate Macro

    • It takes a countdown of 3 to explode, but make sure your target is on his back or he can attack the droid and destroy it be for it finishes the coutdown

      • /target (insert bot name here)

      • /pause 2

      • /detonatedroid

    • There are a few important things to remember.

      1. When targeting your droid, you must use the ( ) around your bots name.

      2. When you are detonating your droid, you need that pause 2 in there or the Detonate command will not take.

      3. Keed in mind that you are switching from targeting your mark, to targeting your droid. DO NOT SWITCH BACK TO YOUR MARK until the countdown has started!

      4. The droids takes out anything in a 15 meter radius (including your marks bike, lairs, and creatures)

      5. The Droid will follow your target oncet he countdown has started if he tries to flee.
