Most people who use them for whatever reason (I quite enjoy sending a mouse droid into a platoon of Stormtroopers before I attack) use them as an opener.

One thing that's good to remember, though, is that you can call them while in combat. That's always a nice bonus, but you need to be careful because if the bomb droid's explosion incaps a target you won't be able to DB.

ive been able to /deathblow jedi ive incapped with a bomb droid.

Do lower costing droids still do alot of damage? The 'good' ones on Ahazi I see go for 50k, there's MSE. I did see a R2 (or maybe R3) but when I went back to check it's damage, it had already been bought.

Is it possible to kill a buffed person with a r3? I think I've seen people say they do.

Lol I love bomb droids! Just used my first one on a Jedi last night for 1/3rd his HAM. I'm new to them though, so here's a dumb question...can they injure me as well, or just the mark? And is the best strategy to detonate and then have him follow target before the 3 second countdown, or to follow target and then detonate somehow from a distance?

I can't wait to use some more tonight when I get home.

Good question, can you tell the droid to follow the target after you start the detonation timer? Can DE's craft droids with longer timers?

58 power R3's on Bria for 45k each, I've seen.
54 R3's for around 30k
50 MSE's for about 18.
I only use 58's when the mark absolutely, positively, must die this second.

a 50-strength MSE isn't possible - Maximum is 40

cut and paste from the DE forum:
Detonation Module
The Detonation Module has a maximum rating of 10 per module. When installed into a MSE or Adv MSE, a +10 per module bonus is applied, for a maximum rating of 20 in an MSE and a maximum rating of 40 in an Adv MSE. The MSE droids are the only line of droids that provides such a bonus and is considered to be the most cost effective. A Detontation droid will provide approximatly 175 points of damage per every 1 point of rating. The damage values appear to have a range of 150 to 200 points of damge per point, so 175 points of damage is only an estimate. Detonation Modules produce Blast damage and are effected by AR and resists, as well as the 75% PvP combat reduction. An Adv R3 can produce the biggest bang, with a maximum Detonation rating of 60.

So, if he has higher than 40, it's an exploit of some kind.
Still 40*175 = 7000
Then, in PvP = 1750
and if they're unarmoured, there's a good chance they're going down - especially if you time your assault
Not actually paid attention yet, but if they have any armor piercing, that'll be increased even more.
ie, AP1 will do 2187 damage due to the 25% increase (IIRC)

One more thing you should know about them, you have to agro the mark before the droid detonates. In other words you can't start your assault with the det droid. If you blow up the droid and you only have a tef on your target, it will do no damage, they must be red to you. I didn't realize this when I started using them and it cost me a droid and a trip to the cloner.

Unless this a changed with a recent patch, this is not true. I once sat in front of a mission terminal that a jedi was using with my droid out and set it off while he was getting missions.. It took his mind down to just a few hundred points and i finished him with my scatter. I also incapped a jedi who was getting mind buffed in a cantina, in both of these attacks the droid was the first assault.

I'm not sure about this, but I really don't think that your bomb droids can be called during combat. At least not from the datapad, they'll have to be prepared during the battle. As far as the can't DB a target incapped by one that's untrue. I've used them many times to incap unbuffed knights in starports and was able to take the deathblow with no problem.

This also is untrue. You do not have to initiate an attack before the detonation of the droid. I have used droids on many occasions and I always get the damage with only the TEF.
