The quest starts... IN SPACE
It's a dungeon that you land on IN space, load into, and then there's quests aboard the station. Rewards include new weapons, a hologram of a star destroyer, etc. This is all from a dev post on it, people in beta have been getting to go up. There currently seems to be some sort of restriction to it.

I just received the Proton Carbine as a reward from a quest which starts at the entrance of the Ryatt trails.
As I'm not a master BH, I'm willing to sell it (on Infinity server)...
PS: max damage is 435-855!

Id agree compairable to the Elite, but to be honest my elite seems to have Better stats. Ill post them up after I get on. but I know the Damage and DPS is better on my Elite.
Ill still hafta get me one to complete my arsenal.

Tis on the wookie planet in the Rayyatt trails.
Talk to carl, his a Zab in wookie armour on the right handside when you enter thru gates.
To find critters you need to go down about 3 or 4 lvls.
Big blueish ape things they are. Not that hard to kill. The horn is a random loot item.
So you may have to kill afew.
Watch out for the slaver though his a bit tough.
Return with horn to Zab guy and you've got your weapon.
Mine was much better then the sliced Nym carbine I had been using.

WHY DID THEY MAKE THIS ONE A WOOKIE EXPANSION WEAPON? I DIDN'T WHANT THIS COMBAT UPDATE. YOU JUST DO IT ANYWAY. AND NOW YOU MAKE THE MBH WEAPON A EXPANSION WEAPON. WHY BE MBH NOW?

So yea, anyone else finding all your quested guns are NOT tradeable? meaning that 800/800 on your proton carbine is the only 800 you'll ever get?
Makes me glad I didn't bother to get an adk...

I got the Proton Carb via land based quest on Kashyyk. Very easy to do as well. It IS tradeable, and is also the best carb out there that I have seen. 520 some DPS if used by a MBH/ M Carbs.

Really? heh, cool, that makes ONE out of 4 weapons I have that I can trade. stupid knuckles of katarn, I can't even drop them in my house, it's one of those, "on you, or in your bank" items... same with flechette pistol... ugh makes no sense, since the proton is better than all the other ones I have... and I'd rather have the other ones as decoration in my house... guess not. guess the only time anyone will ever see them is if I've got them equipped...

FYI, a buddy of mine just did the quest for the proton carbine, got the system message he found the quest item, killed the CL 80 trandoshan, went back to Carl to claim his carbine, AND IT DIDN'T SHOW UP IN HIS INVENTORY!!!!
Ticket was made, CSR told him to try the mission again... lol. You CAN'T do the mission again. CSR told him, oh well, too bad for you.
So now he has to find someone to do the quest who doesn't want the carbine and trade it to him. And yes, you can trade it.

hmm the quest i did for the proton carbine did not involve a lvl 80 trando. it was killing animals to find a pristine horn or something like that

I did the quest with a guildmate and he gave it to me about 30 minutes after I hinted I'd take it. So I have two, which rocks.
As it's a MBH weapon, you'll find that it is worthless to people who are not MBH, so expect for the non-BH classes to be selling it, or trading it for other weapons, quest items, etc.
