I'm quite tempted by this to make one of my chars (not the ranger very likely) a nice melee jedi hunter.

TKM/BH 3-0-0-0/Novice Medic would work .

Well...

they kinda do have tracking, the droids they use...

our tracking is appropriate for us.

(maybe we could still be the trap masters)

I saw that earlier today too. I think its sad the devs have decided to just give in the dabbling combat stackers instead of improving the profession itself. I've always thought that BH should be one of the strongest professions in the game by itself, and should not have to dabble in anything to compete. I don't think this a healthy direction for the game.

On the other hand it may be good news to us. Without the trapping lines we have a much better argument for NPC / PC traps.

*Edit: Am I misunderstanding him or does JustG really have an attitude towards them. All this "but it won't be soon enough for you" sounds kinda rude, especially for a dev to talk to the player base that way. Then again, some of the people on the BH boards have no manners anyway.

There are 10 types of people in this world... those who know binary and those who don't.

He's being honest. It may sound a bit rude to some, especially people new to Dev | Community interaction but trust me, it's the way to talk to the "vets". Let TH do the public PR and give us the truth

I also think BH should be one of the strongest stand alone professions in the game. They're supposed to be wicked tough. I'm glad they aren't our hunting competition anymore(from what I'm reading here today). I think they ought to have a weapon that immobilizes a humanoid or keeps them from running like the whip cord Boba shot Luke with on the sail barge. But we stick to traps. Also remember ranger isin't a combat profession, but a "support" profession. I think we should have better CREATURE to hit than anyone else. I think we could keep everyone from outharvesting us by having a superior creature harvest bonus. Then we're not taking away from the combat specialists but we can still harvest more. Sorry about getting a little off topic but it kinda ties in. Bounty hunters shouldn't be combat scouts, they're supposed to be Jedi Hunters. Give that back to them.

Trust us when we say the phrase is appropriate. Don't go in there to learn about the true nature of those boards as your soul will be forever consumed by the unholiness that permeates those threads.

(Of course, given the time span it takes to get real changes in [read six month or greater increments], I wouldn't hold it against anyone that claims "it won't be soon enough"...)

haha - they really rocked the short-school bus this time. But, then again, they do have some pretty legitimate gripes...

I read it in the opposite way. It sounded to me like JustG was trying to kiss the BHs' butts. Read.

"We want to help out your profession as soon as possible. So that being said, as soon as we can get it through test ... "

"Your other issues are known, and in varying stages of development, but we want you to know that things are going to get better. Hopefully rapidly."

They're rushing through a change to help the BHs. I'd like one of the devs to tell the rangers that they want to "help the profession as soon as possible," or that "things are going to get better. Hopefully rapidly."

Ummm...means less (a whole lots less if the majority of BH drops hunting) harvesters. Ok, that's a good thing but...I'm jealous of their new found points.

Now unless someone feels the need to master scout for their own personal entertainment, Rangers will be the only professions with traps at all. There's no other reason to spend the skill points on that tree. After this, Scout traps should work on pets, and Ranger traps should work on everything that moves.

Also Rangers still need a purpose in the GCW and for the skillpoints cost, and with the worth of skill points really dropping with this announcement, I hope they make Rangers better able to contribute to the world rather than just harvesting.

I'd say so. But then again, so do most other professions. And many of the others can be civil (if exasperated) when presenting their gripes. Of course I never understood the siren song of the bounty hunter in this game. I've met a few real life bounty hunters. Fat guys for the most part, one older lady. Sneaking upto pepper sprayscrawny little bail jumpers that aren't quite cool enough to make it on the show "COPS". Glamorous. The bounty hunters, Boba Fett included, didn't even do that much in the movies. Just stood around trying to look intimidating. Fett also made sure that nobody touched Han when they were loadinghim on his ship. Devs ought to just break down and change the profession name to match more closely the skills and abilities displayed in game and in the movies.

Security Guard. Using eyeshot with their new pepperspray gun. Awesome.

If the BH's drop tracking then there goes half the Ranger population

Really I think the main reason BH's keep Ranger tracking is because their droids don't work and it's the easiest way to get around bugged missions. If BH droids ever get fixed then there's really no need for Ranger tracking, especially at the skill point cost.

My question is, will the devs give BH player tracking. I have hope that the devs will tell BH that if they want to track people, they will still have to get Ranger. I think BH hybrids will be become a fairly nasty-uber mix.

I am hoping for a nice nasty-uber mix calc.. some of the numbers I am running include some pretty hefty defenses and some pretty awsome offenses... nothing like +180 accuracy with a pistol.

I do not want to have ranger tracking style tracking added to the BH lines, I do not feel it is appropriate for the class. The droids, if they work properly are perfectly fine for me.

Dont get me wrong, I do love areatrack...and use it a lot when hunting creatures, and will miss it when I start moving to more defenses in BH... but I also know it isn't a BH skill that I am using, but a ranger one.

Traps are another issue.. I think that since our job of bounty hunter is specifically to hunt people, we are perfect candidates for traps that affect them specifically.. I would like a barrage of traps.. some for KD, some for Dizzy, some for stun, etc etc.. and allow me to apply states with traps, but only on NPCs and players.. not on animals with those traps...

Personally I wouldn't mind if rangers got "mantraps" too, but the few comments from the devs on that subject seem to mean that they will only be BH if ever implemented.

The saddest part of the conversion to BH they are making is the fact that I will have to give up my ranger skills if I want to take advantage of it, I truly enjoy the hunt and as a huntmaster with Rangers of Bria it helps when we are trying to find more of a valuable resources, but I can see the lure of really nice defenses calling to me so I will be heading down that road as fast as I can level up my other skillsets once the change is "in the bag"...

All in all, with a very few people who have gripes with BHs and let it take them overboard, I have had nothing but fun in the ranger forums and participating AS a ranger.. and will miss being on..
