and like the CU was gona kill the game...........oh wait
Dude, you forgot about how Graul Maulers and ATST's killed the game.
... and how it was unfair that Imperials could farm holocron-wielding NPCs (Rebel Surface Marshalls) by generating them from a mission terminal -- that most certainly killed the game.

I just hate all the Jedi. I don't like seeing Jedi anymore.
1 year ago, when someone saw a Jedi they'd be like![]()

(I was like that too).
Now Jedi are just like a swarm of mosquitos that you cant get away from...
It totally breaks the immersion of the game, when we live in a period where there should be no Jedi left...

I have very bad news for all you players who don't have a clue:SWG is dying!More and more people are becoming jedi everyday. Already, 75% (rough estimate) of pvpers are partiallly jedi of fully templated jedi. This number is only going to increase. And with the increase in jedi population, SOE will begin to focus more and more on jedi problems, leaving the rest of the community out to dry. Soon, the non-jedi players will begin to quit or they too will become jedi (as SOE makes it easier and easier to do). Then all you jedi will realize that this games sucks when everyone is a jedi, and you will quit too. Aikes even says the Age of the Jedi is coming. To bad the Age of the Jedi also means the death of SWG.Now, i'm not saying that this game will die in the next few months. SOE will use expansions and such to milk as much money out of the game as it can until it dies. I can see this game limping along for another year, maybe a little more. The only problem is: even though i love SWG, why should i play it and waste my time when i know it's going to die in the near future?
The game is not dying because people go jedi. This is called evolving, and is just to be expected when you consider this game is now 2 years old.
If people learn that jedi suck, they are free to use their free Jedi unlock as they feel fit. Thats the reason why jedi got it. In case they did not like jedi, and would like to "step down".
There is nothing in this game that tells us its dying. The servers have shown heavy loads again, and not only light or medium capasity. We have seen a increase of new players in SWG. And SOE have told us that they have earned more new players then they have lost old ones. And, many of the old players are now coming back too!
More then that http://mmogchart.com/ shows a arrow upward for SWG. Not a straight up, but its pointing up!
Generally this game is very good still! We can agree that theres lots of Jedi, but people want to play jedi! SOE have done research about it, and thats the hard numbers! SOE have also decided to let this be a GAME and as such let people get jedi if they really want to! Games are supposed to be funny, and entertaining for the players! And that include to let people play what they want, includiing jedi - with a little work.
If you dont have fun because of everyone is jedi, Thats a problem you will have to live with. Because, as you, other people should be allowed to play what they want.

I actually feel sorry for the kiddies. I was at the starport giving a newbie some pointers when this guy starts showing off with his saber.
She says "Wow! A Jedi!" After that it's all questions about how to be one. Not how do I make credits, which profession suits me, how does this or that work... Questions I asked when I was new and still do for that matter.
Now they fast forward to the "finish line" never having fun with friends, enjoying the quests or simply as I personally do, enjoy being in Lucas dream as a participant.
I feel sorry for them, I really do. They are missing out.
I believe that would be one of the only ways to save swg, or just find some way to limit jedi like perma death (thats a joke jedi whining will be increased by 150%) I know alot of people would go to the jedi free server and maybe just maybe we would get that old fasion greatness of SWG.
ok /rant off =)
EvilAztec wrote:Ahem, Chicken Little, this game has apparently been dying since 6 months after it started. Did you know UO was dying too, and EQ, Lineage 2, FFXI, et al.
Oops, all of them are still around too, and so is SWG. Will it last forever? No. No game ever does. Incidentally everyone still has their alts. Oh and you don't know what else the devs will do. Jedi has already been nerfed from 20x power to 1-1.5x
Go ahead, claim the sky is falling, even if it's not true.

The difference between the Alpha class in this game and the alpha class in other games is that the company (SOE) endorses the alpha class in this game.
A couple ways to save SWG,
1. Seperate FRS from the GCW.
2. Have more Alpha classes.
For example, Combat classes can either go the traditional Light/Dark jedi like it is now, or have new ones liek Madilorian, Black Sun assasin, Imperial Inqusition, Rebel "Freedom Fighter". (cant liek of alot right now so im sorry:smileysad![]()
Crafters can have Alpha classes too, liek a madilorian AS/WS .... list goes on.
How many times have you heard this? This is nothing original from me, MANY people have said it. The first one i think will happen in the next few publishes and that make it fun for people who dont want to PvP in the GCW with jedi,(i know ill be happy)

anyone ever thought that this is what Lucas wants? think of the games that LucasArts has come out with. Battlefront. dud. does anyone still play it? KOTOR. Hmm.A jedi based game. Tie fighter. No jedi, and surprisingly no jedi in JTL either. Movie based game. Hmm. You get to be a jedi. In every game they come out with, jedi are a predominate role in it.
Face it. Lucas loves the jedi concept. Don't blame SOE for it. If this was not the case, then why does SOE have to get approval and disapproval from Lucas, any time they do something in game?
TO THE RANCOR WITH YOU!
Haden, XGR Interview
Your Jedi character lives in a world of constant danger, and when a Jedi dies, he's permanently dead (your other characters will respawn at a cloning facility). Jedi are also targets for NPCs and potentially other players. This will make surviving as a Jedi long enough to advance to Jedi Knight or Jedi Master status very difficult."
Haden, IGN Interview
"They will be very hard to become, and very very very rare. And we will continue to adjust the system to keep it that way. (I know, here I go tantalizing ya withuot any concrete details again... )"
Raph, Dec 2000
"Is the game going to exercise a degree of control over whether you become a Jedi? Absolutely. After all, it also exercises a degree of control over whether you become anything else in the game. Will those who wish to become Jedi be able to work towards it? Yes. Will they for sure make it? No, it is not guaranteed. But the opportunity is always there should they decide to travel that rough road. We intend to keep Jedi rare, and we will tweak the system on an ongoing basis to ensure that they stay that way (again, something we have stated before). Yes, it is our *opinion* that Jedi will be very very very rare, but we're also planning on working until they ARE because otherwise we would not be faithful to Star Wars. (And yes, we believe we can make it fun to boot). BTW, being a Jedi or Force sensitive in the time period the game is set in ain't no picnic."
