I don't feel that Jedi should be given any penatlies for being in a private house too long. They pay their $15 just like we do. However, I do think that if a Jedi is IN a private structure for more than a specified time.... 10min AFK, 25min AFK? that their mission should be removed from the terminal as if they were offline.

The AFK system would need to be reworked a bit in order to do this though. Currenlty the system seems to interpret macro'd actions as being "at the keyboard." The system could be reworked to act similar to windows AFK screen saver activation: the system does not care what you are doing, ie processes, computing, etc. If you do not physically strike a key or move the mouse for a specified amount of time, the system goes into AFK mode - different depending on your settings.

But the basis of idea is there. The SWG AFK system COULD be changed to make only a keystroke or mouse movement "valid" authentication that someone is actually at the keyboard, physically playing in the game.

This would also get rid of the majority of AFK spammers at high traffic areas like Dantooine Mining Op, and Theed. Thoughts?

They need to get rid of recursive macros, period. That or start charging extra for excessive on-line time... this would also eliminate all /afk headaches. Something like the base subscription gives you 48 hours a month... every hour extra is $1. No more house sitters, no more spammers, no more loot campers.

No decay + uber loot = /spit on crafters

Fix the economy and give crafters their $$$ worth... give us real revamp.

Remember... to Cancel you have to go to Register Expansion in the Launchpad.

Hehe, I think billing in a similar fassion as CellPhone providers charge their customers would be detrmental to any online conent - short of being billed for accessive bandwidth.

Ask AOL how well charging by the hour worked for them when other ISPs were offering "All You Can Eat".

How's that for starters.

Drop the damn mission, get on with your life.

Exactly.. man a guy with the right answer......

If I want to sit in my house and make sabers til Im blue in the face I will. If I want to come outside I will, some BH that is mad about me being in a house will get over it. EACH SERVER has at least 500 Jedi so Im sure there is enough for him to do other then to grief that one player.

this is not the right answer. oftentimes it takes over an hour just to find a jedi who isn't in a house AFK. the jedi do this as a form of griefing. frankly, this is the EXACT reason why i have no problem jedi who are AFK grinding or LD out in the open. honestly, if jedi did not grief bounty hunters by making them waste their time tracking jedi down to a private structure, then i wouldn't be killing AFK or LD jedi.

(please do not focus on a penalty - remain unbiased - look at creating a reward for Jedi to _NOT_ house sit afk.)
If anyone had an idea that was fair, engaging and encouraging for a Jedi to NOT stay logged in while AFK throughout the entire day what would it be.
Please do not post stuff like "have CSR spawn them", "give BH th eability to break in" "etc..."
Let's think outside the box on this one:
Force cost multiplyier to increase every 3 hours of activity so Jedi spend more force per ability and require access and meditation at a ForceShrine to nullify this penalty? ( I play a Jedi I would welcome this.)
Any other ideas?
*Edit: Let's poke some fun at what minor thing could be beneficial to cause a Jedi to think "Oh no, I can't stay logged in while afk cause I'll be wasting my !!!"

One huge problem with any penalty for a Jedi sitting inside his/her house. It is profession biased. Why shouldn't a player regardless of profession, be allowed to sit within a house that they a) paid for b) used their allotted lots to build c) pay maintenence for, for as long as they want to, doing WHATEVER they wish?

If you answer is anything remotely similar to "Because they are Jedi and I have their mission", then I say tough cookies. Move on to another mission. Just because someone choses to play a certain profession should NOT nor NEVER prvent them from being able to occupy a private structure just the same as ANYONE else. Any change or alteration based on that player being a "Jedi" is just stupid, and bringing it up is ludicrous.

You're joking, right? The ridiculousness of your billing idea is just too much to even coment on.

Though you bring up an issue.... recursive macro's. About 6 months ago the dev's had a hard-on for recursive macros. Thunderheart made it sound like recursives were akin to doing a credit dupe, and they would be handled immediately. Well... it's 6mo later, and about 10 publishes... apparently the developers changed their mind on the issue.

You can never fix macros that call themselves to repeat. The player base will simply use the toolbar method to call the macro to repeat. It's that simple...

No, the developers need to solve this "issue" (if it is one at all) by changing the system's afk trigger from any action the character performs, to any physical keystroke or mouse movement. If they do that, the problem is solved, and AFK players will disconnect after (what is it?) 15min of AFK time? Simultaneously, the devs need to remove AFK Jedi from the terminals, when they go AFK.

Here's what I hate, Jedi who AFK all night long in there houses while they sleep. I see no other reason to do this other than to PO Bounty Hunters. I think they should take out repeating macros. Sure there may be some down sides to that but the pros out weight the cons IMO. Just think, less spamming and no AFK Jedi.

If you remove repeating macros, you piss off every serious crafter on every server of the game. Same for doctors, entertainers, Bounty Hunters (duelist stance)..... that's not the answer, and likely will not be since the developers never did it, and seemed to have forgotten about the issue.

The benefits of BH vs Jedi do not outweigh the draw backs to the rest of the player base.

You make a valid point bmill. Maybe they could make it so only Jedi couln't use repeating macros.

That's discrimination.... The Jedi won't stand for that, I can guarntee. I'm more for changing the AFK trigger in the coding of the game. Currenlty, it's based on character actions.... macro's with emotes for instance can trigger the AFK timer to keep resetting, TRICKING the system into thinking you are there.

What I'm saying is.... change the coding to make it so only a PHYSICAL keyboard strike or a mouse movement work. This is identical to how the MS Windows system works. That will completely solve the issue. AFK players would be logging out after 10 min of "inactivity" despite macro's running.

And it will keep everyone happy, especially the crafters because they get to keep their recursive macros.

I really don't see what is wrong with house-sitting. Anybody can do it, but because it takes a couple minutes of a BH's time, we need to find a solution for a problem that doesn't exist to introduce bugs into a game that really doesn't need anymore.

Also, there is already a reward..... kind've. If you're not in your house, you're out gaining exp, enjoying content, pvp'ing, etc.

If you're in your house..... you're just kind've there..... doing absolutely nothing worthwhile.

Well, they could just put a weight or something on a key.
