There are no short-cuts to doing Investigation. My only advice is don't train until you have 10000 invest points and thank your lucky stars you have a vehicle. I did it before speeders. Fortunatly for you you'll never know the feeling of hiking 6000m on endorand finding your mark white and unattackable.

This is good advice,

I just finished Invest 4 last night and made MBH. If you do not push your self realy hard to do Invest, it can be fun at times. Work at a fun pase and jam the uplink terminals at a lot of bases. Always start at #5

I believe it's 5:1 for combat FS xp, but I know for a fact that reflexes gives you a 1:1 ratio. I just used it earlier.

Invest is a 1:1 converstion. Combat is a 3:1 conversion.

Yup, I have converted in prowess and reflexes, conversion is 5:1 for combat prowess exp and 1:1 for enhanced reflexes

hm wonders why it is different?
Very time consuming to get investigation xp. A level 1 hunting may only take 10-20 minutes. However a level 4 missioninvolves alot of planet hopping and can take well over an hour+ for one mark.
I think it's 1.275M for one tree of Force xp. If combat xp is 5:1 in trade, that's roughly 7M Combat xp to needed to convert. A master/elite prof can get 300k combat in about 1.5 hours. +/- 24 hours worth gameplay.
Now since SOE figures that Combat xp is worth 5x less on trade in value than Investigation, you could say that to get this much xp would only take +/- 48 hours of play. This might be the case if you'd didn't have travel to multiple planets and the mark moving around on you.
Not trying to flame your questionor anything close to that, just trying to stretch out the explanation in a little more detail. A MBH going thru the FS grind right could probably offer more on this.

Tried the FS xp grind as MBH. Got excited about the 1:1 conversion which quickly faded.
At MBH you get approx 1k invest xp per mission.
A mission if your lucky will be right by a starport.
More often than not it's 8k away from any civilization and the sucker is on the move.
So you have to find him, then chase him. If he gets to a port before you catch him he's on a shuttle to another planet.
With JTL it's not quite as bad as it was.
Used to be most of your bounties were 2 hops away. So when I tried it it went something like this.
Start on Naboo, get mission. Go to another npc to get a bio signature.
Go outside of town and launch a probe.
Wait until probe gives a planet. Go to starport and fly to that planet. Your lucky if it's only a one hop.
Once your on planet you go outside of town again and launch a seeker.
Fly towards waypoint, pray that bounty doesn't spawn in a building or on water. If it does it's defunct.
Assuming a clean spawn, now you chase him. Probe will give you location to within 200m or so but it's a snapshot,
not a live radar. So you get "This is where he is NOW." Too bad your 3k away
.
Needless to say I'm grinding as TKM/4000 Commando now.
Hope this helps.
