Thread: Bounty Hunters... what can Dev do Right Now??

The reasoning for the final +1 Bounty Mission being moved from Master to Investigation 3, from what I understand, was at least in part to allow for less 'cookie cutter' Jedi hunters in a profession that left few skill points after achieving Master. With this change coming on Friday, I can certainly see a case for returning Jedi missions to Master. MBHs will be somewhat more varied than before while non-Masters will be equipped with far more non-BH skills than BH ones. Mind you, the proposed change does finally allow for TKMs to be be 3000 BHs to hunt Jedi, as I am told they do in the Extended Universe flavour.


I'd at least like to see the final Bounty Mission difficulty mod moved to Investigation 4 though. It'd still allow for most of what will be possible on Friday (only 2 skill points different), but it would take the Investigation grind to be dedicated to hunting this most dangerous of prey (rather than hitting the 10xp cap and then being already partway to the Investigation 3 amount).

You do realize that BH just got flushed down the drain, there will be no reason to Master this profession anymore. Ranged combatants have 0 chance of taking down a jedi padawaan and up. The BH has gone the way of the ranger...only 1 tree is usefull, and 90% of players who have BH skills have 1 tree...freeing up more skill points for brawler professions.....

first of all, for those of you that think the sp revamp is a "start" to fixing our proffesion you will be sadly mistaken. Its a quick fix to allow us to become as stong as pistoleers and carbineers by allowing us to master one of them as well as MBH. This also means that the BH combat lines will not be fixed but more likley gimped in an effort to make everything "balance". You should probably just remove the weapon lines from BH.

we should be fighting to make MBH and the 217sp required for it, worth it.

and oone last thing, for those looking for new mbh templetes, start welcoming the MBH jedi.

This is going to cause a huge change in PvP as well I think as our specials though not awesome on their own will have a huge impact on professions like Commando, Pistoleer, and Carbineer's. This may go badly and get balanced soon. I mean on their own with limited points our specials were okay but at one time awesome. Now with so many other profession having easier access it might be to much. In some ways though it doesn't fit that we have a bounty hunter profession really. It might make more sense to just remove it now and put all our specials in the other professions. Makes them stronger and easier to balance.





I agree with you, this change is going to REALLY throw a HUGE MATSO BALL in the middle of the combat zone. That is why I think it is CRITICAL that the Pre-Reqs for Bounty Hunter include the following:

BOUNTY HUNTER PRE-REQUIRMENTS (requires 180 skill points to quality)


  1. Master Marksman- 77 skill points
  2. Pistoleer - Must complete at least 1 tree - 20 skill points required
  3. Carbineer - Must complete at least 1 tree - 20 skill points required
  4. Rifleman - Must complete at least 1 tree - 20 skill points required
  5. Complete 1 additional tree- (Must complete a Second Tree in Pistoleer, Carbineer, or Rifleman) -14 skill points required
  6. Scout (4-0-0-0) - 29 skill points required

Without this been added (or something VERY similar) then this Scout change is nothing more then another hidden NERF when SOE will ultimately changeing the entire face of the game to: Jedi verse All Others.


This is not as good assome people are thinking it is. With these "lower requirments" anyone will be bale to pick Bounty Hunters and still keep thier other Combat Profession. TKA/BH, Swordsman/BH, Fencer/BH, Master Pistoleer/Master BH, and so on. I fear that this change (while I support the removal of the NON-COMBAT scout stuff) is going to kill the professions if they are not replaced with COMBAT PRE-REQs.


This about it guys, we though the Pistoleer dabblers were bad, wait until this change! I would not be surprised if this change was to allow TKA's to get at the Jedi.


This could be VERY BAD!!!!

Erm... This will only do one thing, allow any other combat profession to hunt jedi. MBH will not be needed or even wanted anymore, as for example a TKA is better at killing jedi than a MBH. I like that MBH is a one choise, one lifestyle and one purpose profession. I don't want to have to use skills from other professions to make it usefull, nor do I want other professions to be able to hunt jedi.


Put jedi missions at MBH lvl and keep the 217 SP cost. Instead give us accuracy and defence so that we can actually have a chance of killing more than a jedi initiate. A MBH should be able to hold his own against a non ranked jedi knight. Maby give MBH a certificate for a weapon that jedi have vunerability to?

1 more thing that really needs doing is when (orif) smugglers are able to get bountys on them, jedi missions should be moved to MBH only then smuggler missions put in at inv 3 instead.

Also you can add the 43 Skill points that aren't the InvestigationLine & have a Commando/Tk Bounty Hunting Jedi Killer ( LOL )



No one is ever going to kill any Jedi with out a Guild of Bounty Hunters...............

No, no, no, no....

How could you do this?

Sure, it'll make Bh's more potent for the time being, but it'll make it MUCH more open for dabblers. And I prefer to think of BH as a fairly "stand alone" profession.
I've always liked that BH is by far the most difficult profession to get, apart from Jedi.
Now it'll just be a mandatory waypoint for pistoleers and carbineers ):
I've always liked the fact that you had to go through the scout lines in order to do BH - the profession had a certain allure.
Now it's just... crap.

Give us some decent offense and defensive modifiers instead.

The BEST thing you can do for HBs and all other profession and to save this game is to fire RuinSWGsabre. Nothing short of that will work

Put on the mandolarian lightsaber resistence /and better stats than a composite when you put the combat balance), put more defenses to the MBH, more acuarcy in all weaponds (and speed on the light cannon) and in my opinion the MBH is rdy ( when you nerf composites,buffs and food )

Hello JustG, thank you for the things you guys already are working on now


I can imagine that it has to be hard work and with extreme deadlines ahead of you.

What i'm about to aks is not for me but i think for most of my fellow BH's on all servers,

depending the Weapon/Armor delay, will there be an alternative been made or maybe even switched back as it was?

As we all feel powerless right now (seen thereactionsof the forum topics on this fact).

That speciallity we had (combining our weapons together) is unanfortunatly made impossible right now, and just to use 1 of those weapons at a time makes us too weak in PVP and PVE. We now are forced tofocuson one of our 3 weapons in a battle, and then we could rather do a specialised proffession on that weapon (like Pistoleer or Carbineer) then only use it as a Bounty Hunter, wich is not the right impression of our proffession i guess?


I hope this topic will be re-considered in the future, cause alot of us experience this matter as very painfull.
