Yeah its true..the most problems I have had are with the people they are grouped with. I have only had one Jedi flame me and truth be told I fought dirty so prolly deserved it lol.

I am just curious so please try to answer constructively. I see many people basically saying they hate jedi and don't want them in the game. (maybe this is just a vocal minority?) I for one don't see the problem with having Jedi in a star wars game, and ifone person can achieve it, then it should be available to everyone if they want to put in the time.

A long time I ago Jedi in this game was more a curiosity to me and I didn't actively pursue being one. I was quite happy playing as a bounty hunter, even back in the day when it took nearly all your skill points and wasn't really very good at anything. Then I got my 2nd account to play my next most favorite profession which was smuggler.

Then aftera few guildmates had achieved jedi and I got to group with them or watch them in action, I gradually changed my mind thinking that I should start working towards that goal, as I would like to experience that first hand. I didn't spend all my game time doing it and it took about a year and half to finally get there, and now I am enjoying being a jedi quite a bit.

I just don't understand why so many people complain about the numbers of jedi or say they hate them or want jedi free servers? Most people I know have a jedi are are actively working on getting one. Its a nice long range goal for this game. Do they basically hate themselves then? Or is it just the ones too lazy to put in the time to get one that say they hate them?

Sorry if it takes a while to read all this but can anyone just explain their feelings on why you hate jedi and why you would want them removed from the game?

Thanks

its the classic "keep jedi rare, except on my account" argument, people dont want alot of jedi but ask them to give up theirs and see what they say lol.

Some people don't believe they belong in the game because they don't belong in the time period, and some people don't like them because they seem to unbalance PvP and PvE alike. Others don't like how homogenous the game is becoming because of the increasing number of Jedi, and some simply don't like the position they are in now because they aren't "real" Jedi or Sith. Other's are jealous because Jedi recieve a second character slot on a server while there is no real reason they should and no other possible way to get one.

I don't particularly mind, but just because you like Jedi, doesn't mean everybody should. What is the point in a game where everybody has the same goal and same end game?

1) The belief that Jedi thoroughly trounce any other profession 1v1.

2) The belief that Jedi are over-powering in the GCW.

3) A-Retentive types who lambast anything that goes against their notion of what is and is not canon. Lump them in with the "OMGzorz, NO player wizards in LotRO plz" crowd.

4) People who have bought into the mistaken impression that every Jedi omgsploited their way to full template.

This is kinda the direction I lean as to why a lot of people say they hate jedi. I think the part about them not being with the timeline of the game is an excuse, a "I have a valid reason to hate jedi" type of thing. If Jedi were not supposed to be in this game and be very limited then our only interaction with them should be as NPC's.

Very skilled players with a Jedi can trouce others, but by the same token a very skilled player of a regular profession can trounce unskilled jedi players, or make a very long fight with a skilled jedi that the outcome is not so certain. Either could win.

The fact that it takes so much longer to get a full template jedi (from just starting to be FS) compared to how long it takes to grind a regular profession template... well I'm justamazed they are as "balanced" as they are right now. (I have a theory that that might be the reason pearl drops are still borked.... a back alley way of "balancing" for now)

Many of those who hate Jedi don't have one. There are those who think we should keep it like the movies, but there is a problem whit that. Star Wars is not just about the movies. There is an entire realm called EU(Expanded Universe). That is where all these Jedi can be accounted for in a way. Just cause Anikin (Vader) killed alot of Jedi and the troopers were ordered to do so doesn't mean the Force stopped working and people never became sensitive to it.

I'm gonna stop till i rant even more

So many stupid people are still alive because it is illegal to kill them.
Anyone who says, "Trust Me" can not be trusted.
It is not what you are killing but what you are allowing to live.

I am one of those who think the game would be better off without so many Jedi (I opened pre cu by the way). That being said there is nothing that can be done about it now. About all they could do is nerf the village and make it take longer. People would still open. You can't take Jedi away once people have opened. It will never happen so I'm not sure why anyone even suggests that.

One could argue bringing back permadeath (3 deaths and you lose all your skills, was the way the old system worked, I think you got an extra death at knight and another at master, of course no one could master because it was bugged, this was way before the FRS). But to have a penalty that big the prize has to be worth it. To make it worth it would mean drastically increasing the power of Jedi. As it stands now there are too many Jedi to drastically increase their power. And beyond all that this game is way to buggy and the servers are way too unstable to have permadeath characters running around. So permadeath is and never was feesible.

The best course of action is for the devs to design the game around the Jedi. Make content they can't participate in. Make the regular cities (non player) hostile toward Jedi. I would also support the blue glowie idea. Of course if they put it in they would have to remove the xp penalty. Which would be for the best anyway. The blue glowie idea is that after so many deaths you would turn into a blue glowie and you couldn't participate in combat for so many minutes and or hours depending on your skill level and the number of deaths.

The whole continuity argument is really one sided. Its people who hate Jedi being in the game but don't seem to mind every other thing in the game that goes against the continuity of the first 3 Star Wars films. The devs stated long ago that they were no longer worried about continuity. If you want a game that is 100% in line with Star Wars episodes IV-V (where the game takes place) then a lot of things in this game would have to go like flamethrowers, the TKA profession, General Grievous, clone trooper armor, the Jedi Star Fighter, and many other things. And there would be no Jedi at all except Luke, Yoda and Ben's ghost.

Jedi are here, they're not going anywhere. Its not arrogance to state this. Its just a simple fact.
