I don't particularly mind, but just because you like Jedi, doesn't mean everybody should. What is the point in a game where everybody has the same goal and same end game?
1) The belief that Jedi thoroughly trounce any other profession 1v1.
2) The belief that Jedi are over-powering in the GCW.
3) A-Retentive types who lambast anything that goes against their notion of what is and is not canon. Lump them in with the "OMGzorz, NO player wizards in LotRO plz" crowd.
4) People who have bought into the mistaken impression that every Jedi omgsploited their way to full template.

Many of those who hate Jedi don't have one. There are those who think we should keep it like the movies, but there is a problem whit that. Star Wars is not just about the movies. There is an entire realm called EU(Expanded Universe). That is where all these Jedi can be accounted for in a way. Just cause Anikin (Vader) killed alot of Jedi and the troopers were ordered to do so doesn't mean the Force stopped working and people never became sensitive to it.
I'm gonna stop till i rant even more ![]()
One could argue bringing back permadeath (3 deaths and you lose all your skills, was the way the old system worked, I think you got an extra death at knight and another at master, of course no one could master because it was bugged, this was way before the FRS). But to have a penalty that big the prize has to be worth it. To make it worth it would mean drastically increasing the power of Jedi. As it stands now there are too many Jedi to drastically increase their power. And beyond all that this game is way to buggy and the servers are way too unstable to have permadeath characters running around. So permadeath is and never was feesible.
The best course of action is for the devs to design the game around the Jedi. Make content they can't participate in. Make the regular cities (non player) hostile toward Jedi. I would also support the blue glowie idea. Of course if they put it in they would have to remove the xp penalty. Which would be for the best anyway. The blue glowie idea is that after so many deaths you would turn into a blue glowie and you couldn't participate in combat for so many minutes and or hours depending on your skill level and the number of deaths.
The whole continuity argument is really one sided. Its people who hate Jedi being in the game but don't seem to mind every other thing in the game that goes against the continuity of the first 3 Star Wars films. The devs stated long ago that they were no longer worried about continuity. If you want a game that is 100% in line with Star Wars episodes IV-V (where the game takes place) then a lot of things in this game would have to go like flamethrowers, the TKA profession, General Grievous, clone trooper armor, the Jedi Star Fighter, and many other things. And there would be no Jedi at all except Luke, Yoda and Ben's ghost.
Jedi are here, they're not going anywhere. Its not arrogance to state this. Its just a simple fact.
