Kneeling increase your ranged accuracy and your ability to withstand ranged attacks while making you weaker against melee. Prone works like wise. Stay out of range and try going prone; The extra accuracy bonus might help (just make sure you pay attention to him getting up...)

Is this still true post CU then? I knew it worked pre cu but id assumed when they removed all the posture downs etc that the bonuses/weakenesses had been removed.

I'll do some more testing on my own on the next mark, but from the way my guildie uses it and my memory of an incident involving a bunch of CL 80's when the CU was fairly new, the difference in ranged damage takenis fairly substantial between prone and standing.

No noticeable difference in damage against a single-chevron 82 mark. "Possible" damage field did not alter with my posture, although it was affected by duelist stance. Makes me wonder whether they havn't done away with it after all.

Going to find myself some lower CL ranged mobs to test it on, could just be that their boss/CL status meant they were already hitting me for their minimum damage (His damage didn't increase when he hit me with warning shot either, even when I wasn't using dueliststance.

*pause*

Against CL 79's, non-chevroned, going prone appeared to cut their possible damage by approximetely 20. Not enough to make me cheer.

Have you had a chance to try the same thing, but kneeling instead?

Tried prone and kneeling, no difference in damage taken when the mobs went to melee, no difference in damage dealt by me because I had a lower posture, no difference in damage they dealt to me in ranged mode. In short, nothing to suggest the bonuses/penalties for postures are actually in-game.

I stand corrected.

Thats what i thought, have you tested vs a player though?

Maybe it works in PVP.
