Thread: Eliminate Jedi experience loss
I dunno, system is still whacked in many awkward ways.
were supposed to help keep the population of jedi in checj..that to me means getting to spank on paddies once in a while..but lets face reality here...our "job" is a joke without a real penalty for death..and that is perma death
you wanna make it a better game..give ANYONE the ability to make a Jedi toon from scratch..but when he dies? its 3 months before that account can make another jedi... there you go, fun for them..fun for us...and no more mindless grinding for jedi

Hmm not a bad idea. A little tweaking maybe here and there and you could be on to something.

They should get rid of the xp loss for jedi killed by bh on a mission and just add the perma death back in again, die in pve = exp loss ... die to bh missions 3 times = perma death
The primary reason permadeath was removed, and the primary reason that it will never be re-introduced, is discussed in this thread. Permadeath will never come back and it's a waste of energy to ask about it. Better we get creative and come up with something else that will hurt, but isn't subject to the cries of "But my Internet connection died! That one shouldn't count towards my permadeath because I couldn't defend myself!" True in some cases, certainly, but also subject to abuse a-la "Oh no! I'm losing this fight!" (player rips network cable from back of PC).
Personally, I like the idea of making the Jedi toon unavailable for play for a certain time period (2-3 days) following a death at the hands ofa BH. They have a second character slot, so it wouldn't keep them from playing the game, and it would limit their progression without the sting of having to re-grind a bunch of XP. They may not be getting any XP during that time, but they're also not losing any.

This is an excellent idea that I think would work very well. Not as onerous as the character being unavailable, but still a setback to the Jedi. Personally, I would rather the penalties be longer (perhaps double or triple what you suggest), and allow force to regenerate at half or quarter rate while the Jedi is logged off so that they could go and play their alt if they wanted.

BH would be a hell of a lot more fun if Jedi would stay and fight. At this point in the game, why the hell would they. Jedi can only lose exp. They even gain more visibility from fighting.
If bounties were like normal PvP, a lot more Jedi would play ball.Get rid of the exp loss. At least the Jedi doesn't lose anything, and we, the BHs, can still get the bounty without standing outside a house fortwo days.
I would like to see more Jedi stay and fight BH. But to remove XP loss removes the "risk". To tone Jedi down to the level of a normal profession would require another revamp, bug fixes, hotfixes, and so on. The Jedi 'haters' would go nuts to see more 'attention' going to Jedi.
I appreciate where you are comming from. And your idea holds some merit. But the downside is far to great and would further widen the gap in the effected communities...
It is not the job of bounty hunters ot keep the Jedi population in check. It is the job of bounty hunters to make Jedi fear being seen. Those are two totally different things.
The original poster is correct that Jedi have everything to lose and nothing to gain from a fight with a bounty hunter, and if you manage to make a Jedi stay offline for three days, you have done your job.
One of the leading underlying reasons given for the animosity toward Jedi is that "they don't belong in this time period" and "it ruins the game experience to see people dueling with lightsabers in every city." Many of these same people then go on to say that "it's the job of the bounty hunters to kill all Jedi."And yet, in the original trilogy, how many Jedi were killed by Bounty Hunters? None. The only Jedi in the movies to use his lightsaber in public view of others, Obi-Wan Kenobi, was not killed by bounty hunter, nor, as far as we know, ever even had a bounty placed on his head. So in this timeline, Bounty Hunters are not supposed to be hunting Jedi. They should be apprehending smugglers who drop their shipment of spice at the first sign of an Imperial Ship.
I don't think permadeath is a good thing. I don't think experience loss is a good thing. And I agree that having lots of Jedi dueling in cities is not a good thing. I agree with those who suggest that there should be a Saber TEF in cities.
If I were a Jedi, I would not want to be hunted, and as a Bunty Hunter, I donot hunt Jedi. I think Bounty Hunters should stand with Smugglers in their call for a Smuggler revamp, in whichbungled smuggling jobs would lead one to be placed on the terminals. Fighting someone who stands to lose nothing would be a lot more fun than trying to fight a Jedi who really doesn't care to die, and with good reason.

Funny that you should say that since there are no more premiums or flawless pearls or crystals dropping since CU. "good" is about as good as we can hope for.

Holy crap! I never thought I'd see someone on these forums use the lessthan/greaterthan symbols properly. I constantly see people using the wrong one.
